Why It’s Important To Eat Slowly #nutritiontips #wellnesswarrior #eatinghabit

The original advocate for eating slowly and chewing food thoroughly was Horace Fletcher (1849–1919), an American health food enthusiast known as “The Great Masticator.”

Who Was Horace Fletcher?
He promoted thorough chewing of food until it turned into liquid before swallowing.
His philosophy became known as “Fletcherism.”
He believed that excessive chewing improved digestion, nutrient absorption, and overall health.
He famously said, “Nature will castigate those who don’t masticate.”
What Did He Teach?
✔ Chew each bite at least 32 times or until it becomes liquid.
✔ Do not swallow food until it feels “ready” to be absorbed by the body.
✔ Eat only when truly hungry.
✔ Avoid overeating by listening to your body’s natural signals.

His ideas were popular in the early 1900s and even influenced notable figures like John Harvey Kellogg and Henry Ford. While modern science has refined our understanding of digestion, his emphasis on mindful eating and chewing food thoroughly still holds value today! 😊
