I felt/feel (?) guilty for spending $ on “extra” veg etc for lunches and snacks. My partner was like, I think we can afford the extra broccoli😂

Years ago, there was a woman at church who tried to shame my mom in a passive way for her “selfishness” in exercising every day. The lady said (in front of a large group of women- it was a class), “Oh, I could never do that. I feel like it’s way too selfish to spend time exercising when I could be serving others instead.” My mom said “Well if you don’t take care of yourself, you won’t be able to take care of anyone else.” I always remembered that.
There is no shortage of shaming messages, from lots of places, all the time. I’ve learned the hard way the I’m the only person who can/will take care of me! I love this message Pahla ❤

I’m lucky that my husband loves going to the gym so he goes there most days while I do my Pahla workouts at home so that part is easy. The rest took a bit more time to figure out but I think I’m there now 🙂

I absolutely love a lesson from one of your walk-run podcasts about ‘selfishness’. U notes that were all have innate selfishness, but when we take care of it in ‘one shot’ – through getting the workout in (and all the other steps of the 5-0 method) – the need is met, and we can care for others more fully, without the ‘distraction ‘ of our selfish thoughts. I got a lot out of that lesson, and this short too!
