I have not had a drop of sugar in 60 days, not even artificial sweeteners. Besides the miraculous 35lbs weight loss, I have noticed vast improvements in my physical and mental health. Of most note is the improvements in my gut health and the changes in my taste palate! Thanks for the information Dr EkbergπŸ€—

    • Spellbindah on December 29, 2021 at 8:58 am

@Saika Mahmud I know you didn’t ask me, but I read your comment, in 3 months I lost 50 lb, the first 30 days I lost 20, hemoglobin A1c down 2 points:-)

    • Spellbindah on December 29, 2021 at 9:01 am

@Stalker Hunter I make my own smoothies, but when I went to purchase one he didn’t have artificial sweetener and he asked could he put a drop of honey. That sweet aftertaste stayed in the back of my throat all day. It’s really that bad when you try to reintroduce sugar into your body. It is a nightmare on my tastebuds πŸ™

Been doing this for a year. Lost 50lb and put on a great deal of muscle. The only exercise I do is moderate paced walking. Every single organ has improved by measures of magnitude like a fountain of youth. I am 50 years old and have a six pack again. I can’t wait to see what next year brings.

    • PS A on December 6, 2021 at 10:18 am

@Angelo Mike Yes there’s not a single benefit of reducing the carb intake to the extreme, no health benefits at all. Got to fuel the body!! πŸ’ͺ

    • CBC Sucks! on December 6, 2021 at 2:33 pm

@Angelo Mike testosterone @925 last time I tested. Pretty good for 50yo natural.

@Dr. Sten Ekberg it has been a beautiful thing. I saw my family physician last week and she was flabbergasted. We trained at Judo together 15 years ago so she can definitely see where I have rolled the clock back. Thank you so much for what you’ve done and I wish you continued success in helping others!

    • forcommenting on September 4, 2022 at 1:52 am

That’s fantastic! All I do is a moderate Pace walk as well. I’m excited that you put on muscle, though, how did you do it?

    • Gauravi Pal on June 13, 2022 at 7:16 pm

@Shalini Diabetes medicine is not addictive. If you change your lifestyle – more exercise, avoid simple carbs, intermittent fasting etc. your A1C will reduce and you will not need medication. Measure your blood sugar multiple times a day to figure which foods spike your sugars and adapt accordingly.
      Good luck.

Thank you Dr. Ekberg! You have been my inspiration during this journey. Since January 27, 2021; I stopped eating carbohydrates & sugars. Started at 227.8 lbs, today my weight is 137.00 pounds. My A1c went from 5.7 to 4.3 – 4.4! Never felt better! I Been fortunate enough to experience, among others, brain clarity + I have learned a lot. In turn, with learning comes intelligent & informed decisions which are totally based on truth & facts; not based on β€œurban legends” passed from one doctor to the next. We should be aware that most Drs. treat symptoms and not the cause AKA the illness. If you get cured, the they have one less patient, less cash. I have come to the conclusion that they may even due it on purpose. Is important that you take it upon yourself to get educated, you will never know that the so call drs. may be killing you! Trust me, I have been there; dodge the bullet with knowledge! The journey for wellness starts with one step; admitting that you are doing things wrong but its not too late; you need to go on the rightful path, and take charge of your health! Once again, thank you Dr. Ekberg!

    • frje77 on April 13, 2022 at 1:03 pm

Congratulations, what kind of diet you gotta?

    • Jose H Velez on April 14, 2022 at 11:28 am

@frje77 No diets. Diets tend to be broken, then you get the YO YO effect. Instead, I do what I call a β€œchange of life style”. Eat healthy be healthy & stick with it!! No deviations stay steady on course! I only do two meals a day. Breakfast & Dinner.

Make sure that you: Zero Sugars (to include no fruits), Zero Carbohydrates, Zero Counting Calories & in my case zero exercise (since I am bedridden).

Also, eat Bacon, eggs, pork chops, chicken, ribs, hamburgers (no buns); do not trim the fat eat it. That fat is ok, the fat that you not want is the fat that comes from sugars, carbs, etc.

Foods to be prepared at home, when possible; try to get organic meats, when possible. Also, drink at least Four 16.9 litters bottles of water; only drink water. Monitor weight daily and log it in. My weight is currently at 129 lbs. I still weight in daily (motivation).

This is one day at a time. When weight stops dropping; do 24-48 hours fast, it helps to jump the weight plateaus.

Watch the Dr.’s videos as motivation.

This is it, hope it helps. Remember, never give up; not once. Remember its a β€œchange of lifestyle”! Do not cheat!! When you start cheating, the weight will start coming back!

      Carbohydrates break down into sugars.

  5. Lethcode on December 31, 2021 at 9:23 pm

I fasted for 24 hours at the start of this week. Then ate only protein that night and then ate dinner the next night again mostly protein. It was like a 2 day detox and I totally relate to all the benefits. By the 3rd night my energy had spiked and now I’m able to do stuff with my kids, not get tired, and it feels like I spent my last 6 months of work in a brain fog. Now if only I could get my wife to cut it out, but she still thinks fats are unhealthy from all that Low Fat marketing. πŸ™ πŸ™ πŸ™

    • INeed 2Study on January 6, 2022 at 1:27 pm

Be careful that she doesn’t keep going on with a low fat diet, not eating enough fats can contribute to amenorrhea.

    • Vihtori Puurola on January 9, 2022 at 6:48 pm

That whole low-fat and zero-fat marketing has only increased carb consumption and cravings in people.

I have given up some addictions but sugar is one I keep coming back to again and again. It really has and continues to be a big challenge even though I know how bad it is for me. I really wish to be free of it once and for all. Dr Ekberg I appreciate you, such amazing content all the time xx

    • Cahangir on June 13, 2022 at 8:07 am

I used to consume lots of candy and drink carbonated drinks a lot as well. But with time i started drinking more water and managed avoiding fast food for good. Now i rarely eat candy and consume soft drinks only in moderate quantity ( only because it is summer). There are always steps that you can take to elevate yourself.

Hi there. What did your diet include? please share

  9. Zsuzsa Paszterko on January 5, 2022 at 3:17 am

Thank you Dr, this is amazingly accurate for me right now. My friend and I started the new year 2022 with the new diet. We cut completely sugar and bread. I know it’s way too early to be happy, but we are so excited about the result. If what you said is true, we, after a long long years of struggle, finally can reach our optimal body weight and be super hot again in our 50’s. Much obliged for the video.

  10. Jasmine Johnson on January 5, 2022 at 6:29 am

Thanks for this. Second video of yours. First was the β€œno bread for 30 days”

Got labs back and I have high glucose and a few other β€œproblems.” Goal is to get my body to homeostasis with lifestyle changes versus medications. Started this journey due to irregular and heavy menstrual cycles. I believe that when there’s β€œissues” in the body, it’s simply a stop sign/sos that’s saying β€œhey, look over here. I’m not healthy. Please help.”

I believe that most things can be cured through lifestyle changes versus medications/pharmaceuticals and that’s what I’ll prove.

First step, no bread and no sugar.

    Thank you!

  11. JessBreatheNails on March 2, 2022 at 6:32 pm

Loveee this video, so informative. Thank you so much Doc. I’m no longer a prediabetic thanks to exercising and cutting carbs, but I’m currently hypoglycemic. I’m starting my keto diet today as well with cutting out sugar for Lent for 40 days. I’m excited to see how I’ll feel after my 40th day, knowing me I’m going to continue on this journey☺️. Thank you thank you thank you❀️

Thank you Dr. Ekberg for all these well explained educational videos! I followed your advise and have been doing healthy keto and intermittent fasting along with exercises. I reversed my insulin resistance and feel so much better! Hopefully more people will find your channel and the healthy lifestyle.

  13. Goyo on June 10, 2022 at 4:47 pm

I’ve only been off sugar 5 days and I already notice several changes. One being the way “hunger” has been modified. I do 16-20 hour fasts almost daily and I’m used to feeling serious hunger prior to my eating. Now is a little different and hard to describe but it’s like this: I still “feel” that I am hungry when my fast is over (empty stomach, hormones signalling time to eat, etc.), but they don’t “compel” me to eat. I can ignore them and not trip off it. These feelings are still real and they are there but its like I don’t really care or don’t feel like listening to them. In a way, it’s subtle but in a way it’s very powerful.

  14. Mike Dennington on June 26, 2022 at 12:12 am

I’m 66 and been on a keto diet for 14 days and what he is saying is 100% correct. Lost 10lbs, feel much better, look happier. First week had withdrawal but after that much better and getting used to decent eating, no sugar, no carbs.

  15. Sean Shaw on July 5, 2022 at 8:06 am

Thanks Doc, 3 weeks ago found out I had Type2 diabetes and an A1c of 12.4. You taught me to reverse the issue instead of medicate it. I never took their meds and fixed the problem with diet/exercise. Now I relentlessly monitor my blood sugar and blood pressure and they are both normal. Even stopped taking my blood pressure medicine. My follow up is going to be sweet lol.

    • MBacc on July 9, 2022 at 10:36 pm

I’m curious about that follow up. All my uncles and aunts have Type 2. My parents and I are the only family that doesn’t.
Will like to show my extended family your comment to get them to understand to eat better.

11 months after watching this and staying on the no to low sugar diet I had my blood draw and physical results yesterday. Dropped fasting glucose from 112 to 91. Weight dropped from 193 to 170 pounds. Thanks for the great video and definitely a life changer!

  17. Rui Hao on September 23, 2022 at 10:43 pm

I wanna say, all the things in this video are true and most of them happened on me, the change of hunger, cravings, taste of food, blood test results, weight loss, mood, everything! I have been keeping low carb diet for around 3 months, it did change my life. The point is, cutting the sugar and carbs can make you healthier.
