Right, red beans and rice are inherently vegan 😆

Vegan food is anything that doesn’t contain animal products. There’s no specific ingredient you add to make it vegan. Peanut butter and jelly is vegan, for example, because bread typically doesn’t use milk or eggs nor does peanut butter or jelly.

Any food can be vegan just so long as there is no milk, eggs, fish, meat, or honey in it. There’s a couple food additives to watch out for too, like carmine and gelatin, but it’s not a long list.

Oreos are vegan. They don’t use milk. Ritz crackers are vegan too. There’s a lot of foods that just happen to not use animal products. Vegan doesn’t mean that there’s anything special about it – just that no animals were involved with making it.

Are those sausages seitan based or soy based?

    • S Mudge on February 18, 2023 at 4:29 pm

They’re whatever vegan sausage you decide to use. The recipe doesn’t call for any specific brand or product.
