Today we're going to talk about a simple way to prevent kidney stones, and it has to do with apple cider vinegar.

The most common type of kidney stone is a calcium oxalate stone. In this situation, you have high oxalates and calcium and low citrate.

You may have high oxalates from consuming too many high-oxalate foods. Oxalates are in a lot of foods, including keto-friendly foods. High calcium in the urine can be due to a genetic mutation.

Your body makes citrates, which bind with calcium to lessen the amount of free calcium in the body. Free calcium is what can bind to oxalates.

Drinking more fluids during the day is one of the best ways to prevent kidney stones. I suggest drinking at least two and a half liters of fluids per day if you're prone to getting kidney stones. Another great way to prevent kidney stones is to add electrolyte powder containing potassium citrate or magnesium citrate to your water.

The best natural remedy for kidney stones:
• To help dissolve kidney stones, add four to six ounces of lemon juice and two tablespoons of apple cider vinegar to a large glass of water, and drink up! For kidney stone prevention, add the juice of one lemon or just one tablespoon of lemon juice and two tablespoons of ACV to your water.

I drink ACV every morning diluted with water 😁
    Thanks again Dr Berg!

    • Matthew Lee on April 11, 2023 at 1:01 pm

Me too. I squeeze a whole lemon into it also. It makes it taste a lot better and is really good for you.

    • John Smith on April 11, 2023 at 7:50 pm

@Matthew Lee I do same except put 1 TBSP of organic lemon juice.

    • L on April 12, 2023 at 7:21 pm

@Matthew Lee I do it too anytime I can afford lemons. I think I better buy a lemon tree to start growing some of my own. It’s getting expensive buying lemon here.

Apple cider vinegar is one of the ingredients I use in the chilli mix I make at home. Thanks always Dr Berg 😊

How much ACV should you mix with morning water

    • Sabrina and husband on April 12, 2023 at 9:06 am

@Turtle’s stuff around 2 table spoons I guess.

    • Turtle's stuff on April 12, 2023 at 4:41 pm

@Sabrina and husband thank you so much . I’m just starting to learn from Dr. Berg

I had kidney stones over a year ago just before starting your healthy version of keto, I wasn’t eating right to begin with and extremely over weight. I was worried about getting kidney stones back by eating 10 cups of dark leafy greens so that’s when I watched your videos on what to help with kidney stones and immediately start drinking apple cider vinegar, lemon juice and water 32oz at every meal and I have been very fortunate not to get them back, knock on wood! Thank you Dr. Berg for helping me through getting healthy and losing weight the correct way!

    • Indigenous 1951 on April 11, 2023 at 2:18 pm

@byebitch I put a slice of lemon or lime in squash soft drinks. It gets diluted so is not as aggressive.

    • Patricia Carlyle on April 11, 2023 at 4:09 pm

@Chalron Bjorkcv has malic acid. I have seen a video where someone said drinking apple cider or fresh juice could soften certain types of stones. So acv could work. Anyways it won’t hurt to have it also. Perhaps that’s where the saying “an apple a day keeps the doctor away”🤔

    • Joseph Burns on April 11, 2023 at 4:39 pm

@Godnyx  I don’t have gut issues by eating all them dark leafy greens so I can enjoy the benefits of getting plenty of potassium, magnesium and all the other nutrients that are in them while still eating fatty meats, eggs, cheese.

  4. DeniseTG on April 11, 2023 at 10:35 am

Doc I SWEAR you’re following my life lately with your topics. Legit I passed a nice sized stone last week! I make calcium oxalate type and do pretty well watching my oxalate intake until about the last six months. I started increasing myricetin for C19 prevention one of which is Cranberry but have found its also high in oxalates. ACV and Lemon is out my having MCAS and sensitive to those as triggers. Guess I’ll be taking magnesium citrate and visiting the bathroom more often for another reason.🙃

    • John Smith on April 11, 2023 at 7:50 pm

I have histamine intolerance and no issues with ACV or lemon juice in morning.

  5. Sparkle on April 11, 2023 at 10:44 am

    I use vinegar every day!

I had a really painful few kidney stones back in 2020…Took me days and litters of lemon juice a day to get rid of the pain. Plus fasting. Did not know the additional data you provide today!!

@Dr. Eric Berg DC This past friday made 3 weeks following program down 20lbs and 3 inch’s off waist. Quick question, currently taking 2 tablespoons acv+2 tablespoons lemon juice+one bottle of water+your lemon raspberry electrolyte powder. Makes a great tasting drink, have around noon everyday. Is it ok to take all these at same time together? Thanks for the videos!

    • cj432T on April 12, 2023 at 9:50 am

@B Sheets ACV, vitamin D3, B vitamins and ketovore have all been game changers for me thanks to Dr. Berg.

You’ve never experienced pain like a kidney stone, until you have! When I recovered one that had hit the bottom of my toilet, I saved it for years. Look at one under the microscope, and you begin to see how, a tiny BB size calcium deposit, can feel like a chain saw in your back!
Thanks Dr. Berg, for shedding light on a natural defense, against these insidious beasts!!!

I can honestly say, without a shadow of a doubt that this works. It also works with gall stones. One week of taking apple cider vinaigrette I felt an instant pinch and headed straight to the facilities. I was amazed how much dissolved gall stones came out of me.

    • Dr. Eric Berg DC on April 11, 2023 at 2:58 pm

      That’s great news!

    • Yugeneitor on April 12, 2023 at 2:52 am

sorry my ignorance in english but what does it mean 2 you headed straights to the facilities? Does that mean hospital or bathroom?
      And other question
¡ You mean you peed the kidney stones or you pooped the gallbladder stones=?

    • EffKay on April 12, 2023 at 5:10 pm

@YugeneitorI would also like to know

  12. Mark White on April 11, 2023 at 2:58 pm

Dr. Berg, I don’t know who you are but it seems like every other day you throw out a video that personally effects me positively. As a 60 year old stone former you had me taking apple cider vinegar with the mother for almost a year now however, it had nothing to do with stones. I was taking it for other health benefits. This is such good news to me knowing it also helps for stones.

  13. Hibson Daniel on April 11, 2023 at 3:13 pm

Dr Berg. Thanks a lot for the information. The concern is We have a lot of manufacturers out there in the market, finding the right product makes us a big challenge. Dr Berg, could you suggest any name of the products.

Almost 10 years ago I had a kidney stone for the 1st time in my life. Uric Acid stone. I dissolved it with Lemon Juice & Olive Oil. It took about 3 days to work. Worst pain ever though, & I’ve had Open Heart Surgery last year to replace a congenitally defective aortic valve. I also filtered my water since then with a Berkey Water System.

In 2020, as the pandemic started, my wife and I started on keto and intermittent fasting. At that point, my wife was diagnosed to have a kidney stone about 4mm in size. During these three years, we have been taking apple cider vinegar in pills as part of our keto. Last month, my wife went to the doctor and after a study, her kidney stone was 2mm. We couldn’t understand the reason until I watched this video.

  19. Elijah on April 12, 2023 at 4:57 am
