Hello doctor, are there any alternatives to white bread? What kind of bread is healthiest one and I can eat on daily basis without worrying about my health?
Also is isolated whey protein healthy?

Wow I was fed that unnamed soup my whole childhood…and my brother and I were obese and often sick. We were fed canned soup, sandwiches including lunch meat and pbj. Also chips and coke. Breakfast was chocolate milk and cupcakes. When I look back we’re lucky we even got out of childhood.

It’s really only the last 30-40 years that the wheat plant was altered so drastically. In the 60s/70s and prior, it was a very different plant. My great grandmother made wholemeal bread every few days. She ate that, plus homegrown vegetables and fruit, milk, eggs from her hens etc. She lived very healthily to 97.

@Cathy Grandstaff I used to like bran muffins, sure they were lots of calories by the bran was filling and made you regular. Now it’s hard to find bran muffins – most muffins today are to sweet.

“A labelling trick, called LYING” genius. I learned that labelling trick the painful way many times over when trying to clean up my eating due to allergies to wheat, gluten, yeast, back in 2005. I found out, painfully, that the food companies do not have the consumer’s best interests at heart and the only way to eat was whole foods. That doesn’t mean it’s been smooth sailing, with the advent of better gluten free products and better labelling (at least in the UK), I’ve stacked on the weight, going from very slim to being 40+ lbs overweight. Hence here I am relearning everything 🤔🇬🇧

Twenty years ago I started drinking cranberry juice thinking it was healthy and after my yearly checkup my doctor told me my lipid profile showed a high level of triglycerides. Stopped all juices including fresh squeezed orange I would sometimes have at breakfast. I always limited my sugar intake by avoiding all the obvious sources like soda, cakes and candy as I knew excess sugar was detrimental for health yet overlooked the high sugar content of fruits and especially fruit juices. Triglycerides dropped from 270 to 101 even though I still ate the occasional slice of watermelon or a very small slice of fruit pie and still managed to lose twenty pounds in three months. They tell you to eat your fruits and vegetables but I would say to watch your mangoes.

    • T.J Burrell on August 8, 2022 at 5:58 am

@Abzall fruit juices are concentrated liquid sugar. Nothing healthy about them.

    • Abz on August 8, 2022 at 8:45 am

@T.J Burrell actually all the vitamins and minerals in 100% fruit juice are still healthy and pretty useful if you do high intensity work but overall I agree they are unhealthy for the average person because the lack of fibre doesnt let you slowly digest the juices

    • iwanteverynaturebacksitem on November 22, 2022 at 1:01 am

@DXUBLE XXSPLICIT XXSPLICIT bro you are so annoying. I will never deny that exercise is absolutely vital in achieving wellness, but there’s no reason to attack what he’s doing and not call it exercise. Physical activity can look different for everyone at their jobs. My dad used to work in construction and that man would come home dripping in sweat, along with the fact that he and many other workers gained a lot of muscle and strength with what they were doing. It entirely depends on what kind of construction is being done.

Over a third of U.S. adults have high triglyceride levels. This can be due to inactivity, inherited disorders, diet, stress, etc. The likelihood that this person has their diet to blame for their health issues and they change that diet, will ultimately be the best way to achieve what they want. You can, in many cases, ‘exercise out’ a diet, but that does not mean that health benefits are maximized. Overall, diet is the most important part of fixing an issue with high fat. Exercise is also very important, but not when someone evaluates their daily job as a way to get proper exercise. That’s not up to you to decide.

tl;dr some jobs include moderate to intense exercise and diet is the most important step in achieving wellness, considering one exercises adequately.

    • Tim Bo on December 1, 2022 at 3:46 pm

@Apenza it’s just weird you blame fruit juice for high levels of fat 😂😂

    • Apenza on December 1, 2022 at 3:54 pm

@Tim Bo What’s more weird is where you read any of my comments concerning fat. Besides a lack of knowledge concerning health there seems to also be a lack of reading comprehension among many.

  9. ASpringChickensOnlyMan on November 22, 2022 at 6:53 pm

I understand how there’s many processed ingredients like Aspartame in a lot of foods we eat. The one on this list I eat most often is probably the white bread.

This guy has a really good point about the health debates but I’m afraid to say that unfortunately these bad ingredients are nearly inevitable at this point. There may be one harmful ingredient in every single product we buy and not everyone is a farmer that grows their own food and gets their own water.

It’s just we probably won’t be able to avoid all of these ingredients just because nowadays there’s literally a problem in every single corner that there’s just no way around it. Best we can do is just avoid the worst of these for the better like the diet soda.

I drink regular soda which of course is bad but I don’t ever drink diet soda. Diet soda tastes bad and turns out it’s not any better than the normal soda. So question is why is diet soda existing and why do people drink it? It’s garbage

I am addicted to crisps/chips. I try not to eat them but eventaully, once I month I will feast on a few bags until the next time. And I find very accurate what you are saying – you cannot stop eating them. However what I find is that on first day of my “crisps diet” I will finish a single bag 150/175g and will be fine. But the next day I have to have at least two of them. I do not smoke, I do not drink, avoid soft/energy drinks, juice, I have been reducing sugar in my diet for some time now but still crisps are my achilles tendom :/. I shout at my kids when I spot them eting crisps when we visiting friends but cannot stop myself – thus I find them extremly dangerous.

  12. Luke Mx on December 2, 2022 at 2:21 pm

Just one question – what to do about the bread? If you bake it yourself, is it any better or is it simply wheat that makes is so bad? If so, what instead of the bread?

    • D Rayner on December 2, 2022 at 7:43 pm

I am gluten intolerant and 4 months ago stopped eating wheat barley and rye. Bread consumption dropped even though you can get breads made without these grains. I’m now cutting back on these too. Once you start, you don’t miss it.

I used to eat a lot of deli meats…. Even on keto.

Fast forward for a couple of decades and I was diagnosed with MCAS and histamine intolerance. Yes. Stopped eating the deli meat and any aged foodstuffs, live is so much better. Yes. The closer we get to real natural whole food, the better it is for us.

  17. Chris S on December 8, 2022 at 1:42 pm

Some info here is misleading and meant to scare people for no reason. For example, Aspartame. FDA says they anything less than 50 mg per kg/day of aspartame is perfectly safe. I am 90kg. So for me I can safely have up to 4500mg aspartame per day. Any diet soda has about 50mg of aspartame. So as you can see, I can safely drink 89 cans of soda per day and still be below the minimum FDA daily recommendations of what is safe for aspartame consumption. All you are doing here is scaring people from drinking diet sodas which is overall much healthier for people than any non-diet option.

Thank you for the detailed information. This is highly valuable. I’ve always tried to stay away from any processed foods as well. I always read labels.

Fortunately in the UK, we have effective food regulation and most of the crap available in the USA, will never be allowed over here, thank goodness.

  20. CsN on December 9, 2022 at 9:49 pm

To be honest it is a good video to demonstrate what you should not eat too often but i think some points do not apply on any country or region where the food comes from.
For example glutamate is found almost in every asian cuisine and i have never seen any problems with it.
Those ingredients you were pointing out like mercury but im pretty sure that mercury is not present in the canned tuna in Germany (where i live).
Also i would like to add that i am not a scientist or a doctor, i am just a dude who likes to go to the gym and have a healthy diet.
