Thanks for this. A lot of information. I watch your videos regularly and am a subscriber. Overall, I keep my blood sugar around 110-130 and sometimes after a large meal I see it jump way up to around 190-200. What I cannot understand though is why sometimes, for no reason that I can figure out, it drops… precipitously, sometimes to 50-60… Usually in the afternoon and sometimes right after I exercise (which that part I do understand) but often it will drop for no reason in the middle of the day.

    • Bobby Lee on May 12, 2023 at 12:11 pm

Your pancreas is dumping a big load of insulin too fast.

    • KL0Wn KiLLeR on May 12, 2023 at 1:16 pm

@Bobby Lee YEs but why? I didn’t eat anything, I didn’t do anything out of the ordinary to trigger it… that is what I don’t get. When I exercise then yes, I am burning calories and my insulin doesn’t respond fast enough… I get that but when I am just sitting at my desk working and the bottom drops out…?

    • Bobby Lee on May 12, 2023 at 1:25 pm

@KL0Wn KiLLeR Insulin needs to be removed from the bloodstream when it’s job is done. Maybe insulin is staying in the bloodstream too long?

    • Sparkling Cyanide on May 12, 2023 at 2:46 pm

Sounds like what I’ve battled for many years – reactive hypoglycemia. Might be a slow first response of insulin, followed by a huge surge. Look up the Nourished by Science channel. He explains a lot of things dealing with blood sugar and insulin. It has really helped me to understand what’s happening to me and what to do to help it. Good luck!

Thanks, Dr Ekberg. I’m from India, we consume a large quantity of other fruits which are available seasonally…like mangoes, jackfruit, grapes, pineapple and chickoo. Bananas and papaya are available almost throughout the year.
Avocado, raspberry and blueberries are more exotic, mostly imported and priced exorbitantly.
Please make a vdo on the safe quantities of these native fruits we can consume. Thanks.

Enlightening. You’ll get it straight and right here from this man. Thanks to this channel and others like it, I’ve lost nearly 50 lbs. in the last 11 months, because I now understand what form good nutrition takes. For decades I yo-yo’d up and down with weight because I didn’t understand how to lose weight and, more importantly, keep it off. Those days are gone forever. Thanks for your contribution to my success.

Id like to say even when metabolically healthy,… The impairment has a big effect on life (and the immune system response) from my experience. Great video.

  15. GrunkleBob on May 12, 2023 at 1:00 pm

Dr Ekberg, you really, really need to do an hour with Dr Ken Berry. You are both amazing and he always speaks highly of you! You have similar subscription bases and deliver identical messages. Yes he is carnivore, but he promotes Keto above all. His saying for things that are “not great” is less bad. As in vaping is less bad than smoking. Dates are less bad than rice. Great talk today, I really appreciate you!

Dr. Ekberg you are one of the best “teachers” I have ever heard. Other non sweet fruit are cucumbers, sweet peppers, okras. People usually think of these as vegetables also. Perhaps if people understood this they would realize that they already get their fruit and veggies when they eat just what they believe to be veggies. Thanks for all you do.

  19. Thomas Hughes on May 12, 2023 at 5:09 pm

Always great mechanistic explications, Doc !

Personally, I had to remove all plants from my diet, but I’m used to it now, and it’s a joy for my health. Be well! ❤️

  20. Tee Emm on May 12, 2023 at 5:54 pm

Thanks for all your help and informative videos. Have you done one on foods that we should eat after a stomach virus? The BRAT system is in opposition of your general messaging, so I was wondering if you had good suggestions on what to eat coming off the chucks and runs?
