Top 10 Foods To Detox Your Kidneys

Here are 10 of the best foods to detox your kidneys no matter if you want to prevent or manage kidney disease. Kidney disease is a common problem affecting about 10% of the world’s population. Kidneys are responsible for filtering waste products, releasing hormones that regulate blood pressure, balancing fluids in the body, producing urine, and many other essential tasks. So you have to take care and eat what is right for your kidney health. Sodium, potassium, phosphorus and protein are the top concerns once there is kidney damage, but there is so much more to consider.

I wish I would have had this information 20 years ago, I probably could have had more time with my dad who had kidney failure caused by his heart medications he was put on starting in 1984, he passed August 1, 2007. Just a few days shy of his 68th birthday.

You’re missing the cause of toxic VOC’s in the air… the average city has 5-10 times over the EPA/WHO limits for a sizeable list of toxic kidney damaging chemicals from cars, drug labs, etc.

What about victims of the new world order who have had snails put inside them to eat their organs who cary toxoplasmo gandii and your joints are being eaten too and the doctors who do tests on you ignore everything that’s wrong and don’t help you with anything and don’t do the tests you ask them to do? What about the doctors who do these things to ppl? Why are we not doing anything about the murderous doctors who are killing ppl?

Dr Ekberg, thank you for another amazing video. We don’t often think about our kidneys and the vital role they play. As a nurse, I’ve witnessed how diabetes affects the kidneys, seeing so many of my clients go to dialysis 3 times a week. I believe many doctors go about treating diabetes the wrong way. Instead of reviewing their patient’s diets, they usually just increase insulin dosages. In my eyes, you are and always will be the ultimate health champion, and I’m honored to look up to you as a teacher 😊

Thank You Dr. Ekberg for this video. In May of 2019 my GFR was 39. I had already went low carb/keto 4 months before. Sticking with low carb I was able to get my GFR up to 74 two years later. Highest it’s been in 7 years.

    • Mami Fuke on June 17, 2022 at 6:40 pm

May I ask that you went to Kito diet. Does that mean you were not restricted with protein consumption at all?
If you could share your experience with what you ate and what you did for such dramatic improvement of your kidney function would be very much appreciated, and I am very sure a lot of people who have kidney dysfunction would get a lot of courage from you.

    • Chung Kuo on July 20, 2022 at 6:21 pm

Raising your GFR is greatly amazing! I never knew it before. I am practicing 168. I will follow you to stick with low carb.
Thank you very much for your encouraging message.

    • In Say on August 26, 2022 at 8:47 pm

is it really true? did yuou take any other meds?please help!

    • john Benda on September 11, 2022 at 9:35 am

@In Say It’s true and I did not take any medication. My GRF in july 2014 was 64. March 2019 it was 46 and May it was 39. March 2021 it reach 74 and has been in the low 70’s ever since. Not sure if it’s going low carb, or eating whole foods or just staying away from sugar and sugar drinks helped. Unfortunately there’s no one size to fit all and this might not work for everyone.

    • janet allen on October 9, 2022 at 4:53 pm

You give me hope, and you are blessed! I was scared to death, but finding this channel and you people who are inspirational, I’m going to believe and do something positive. Thanks to all. I wasn’t sure the kidneys could repair themselves with just diet, and avoiding NSAIDS.

  5. k s on August 16, 2021 at 1:50 pm

Good job Doc! These foods that you recommend also have anti-cancer and heart disease prevention qualities as well, not just for kidney health. Hope you get the Nobel Prize in Medicine someday.

At the beginning he says kidney can’t repair like the liver, then at 9.25 he says the kidney needs protein to repair, 🧐

    • Marjorie Coulson Coulson on June 21, 2022 at 5:07 am

@Hardlines can’t repaid like the liver can. Stage 1& 2 can more or less. But stage 3 on down, is slowly going down hill. In order for them not to get worse have to cut out alot of things you eat plus it starts bothering other things in your body. Stage 5 deep kim Chee,. Filtering and all sorts of problems & dialysis. Liver regenerates with no problems like the kidneys.Ans when starting to get problems w/,kidneys, other problems start w,/with your body as well. Can heal kidneys w/protein so won’t get worse, but the kidney has received damage. But don’t keep going because the kidney will get worse down the line till the time of no return with lots of work of you having do lots of things to keep alive as stage 5. Can heal in other stages but have to do special things to keep them that way so wing get worse. So, it’s not like the liver in healing. Liver regenerates itself. Kidneys no, you have to do lots of things for it to heal completely w/taking in protein. So, you have to do alot of things to keep it that way, watching diet of avoiding normal foods & have to really watch sugar like crazy, & do alot of crazy things to keep it that way after a 2. & starts bothering other parts of body. Have to beware in order to keep it ok. After 2, things like heart veins blood digestion & diabetics prone to set in. Protein will always help keep it healed, but not to like it was with eating even healthy foods etc.. It will only hold in on that level of staying healed & not get worse.

I’ve discovered Dr Ekberg’s channel recently and I’m hooked on since. I’ve started to watch Sugar and Carbohydrates as two potential enemies, the only problem I face now is planning meals has become the most confusing task of the day. It would be great if Dr Ekberg can catalogue his videos in a way that informational videos are in one category and actionable information is in another

I’m 75 . My GFR was 42. I was sent to a nephrologist. He suggested I get off of meloxicam 15 mg daily. After just a few weeks, the GFR went up to 70. That’s well with in the normal range for someone my age. How many out there are on dialysis after taking a drug like this?

I’m stage 2 with my GFR at 59. I’m glad I found this video because my nephrologist has not given me much to go on nutrition wise. I’ve been so confused about managing my disease. I understand so much more now. Thank you!

You know it is really sad that doctors don’t know squat, I have a friend with kidney issues- the advice to her was=I wouldn’t worry just yet. We’ll wait until things get worse and then we’ll see what to do about it. And she just sits there and waits. I have sent her information, but she is waiting on that doctor. This doctor should have the license to practice medicine revoked. Another good Doctor that I listen to is Dr. Eric Berg. Find him on you tube, he does a lot of nutritional as well as educational videos. There is one on kidney health. That is how I found Dr. Ekberg. Wishing you the best on the road to recovery. Be well.

Great video! Just wanted to add that Raspberries have the highest amount of oxalates between the berries that are mentioned, so if a person have kidney stone formation that is caused by oxalates, it should be taken in consideration too.
