Dr. Ekberg, I recently discovered the harm Synthroid can do by slowly increasing A1C. I would like to see your research and comments regarding taking a thyroid medication if one does not have Hashimotos.

@Dr. Sten Ekberg They told me this same stuff in my 1974 6th grade class. Too bad many of the teachers who were teaching this stuff didn’t follow their own teaching as I would see those same foods in the teacher’s break room.

    • Mercator Jubio on August 19, 2023 at 2:06 am

I also love his dry humor about those sort of things peaking through here and there. Had to pause the vid a couple of times to chuckle, because there is just so much truth in it.

@Dr. Sten Ekberg your content is great, but you need to get to the point sooner. List the foods, then explain the mechanisms for each. You will help more people that way, since few will watch a 40 minute video. Hope that helps. Thank you Doctor! 😊

In the 1980’s they came out with what foods are healthy to eat and which to avoid. They got it so wrong that its hard to believe it was an honest mistake. If you want to control a society “keep them sick and fearful” I don’t remember who said this but I agree

    • D Lee on August 19, 2023 at 12:02 am

@Breakingzilian I feel ya – lots of carbs are ‘comfort foods’ that we grew up with. But… carbs are sugar. So toss it. Maybe substitute on occasion with cauliflower rice (still has carbs tho…)? Just keep the mantra going in your head: CARBS ARE SUGAR! Best wishes and Good Luck!

I’m surprised oatmilk isn’t on the list since it is processed and is basically starch juice and is promoted as being heart healthy and a great replacement for dairy

    • davenetdog on August 18, 2023 at 2:05 pm

He mentioned it and other fake milks a couple weeks ago. They are crap.

    • Platinum Branch on August 18, 2023 at 2:08 pm

But see how you were able to put the facts presented together (processed and starchy) so you already know it ISN’T healthy. He listed 10, not everything in the world. Thankfully we’re able to figure out more on our own using the information provided. Have a happy, healthy day!

    • YazmanianDevil on August 18, 2023 at 2:46 pm

@Platinum Branch To be fair I already was aware of this fact before I listened to this video.

Have lost 15 pounds so far following Dr. Ekberg’s advice and a low carb lifestyle. I finally broke my husband’s lifelong habits of eating pretzels, cookies and margarine. He has lost 30 pounds and only has five to go. We are never going back!

    • Eddie Byrd on August 19, 2023 at 11:28 am

      Outstanding presentation!

  10. TheRealTanSeeker on August 18, 2023 at 12:23 pm

The saddest thing about these videos is that majority won’t listen to a long video like this to inspire them to better their lives.
I watched the entire thing and I’m happy to learn the reasons why my health changed since going keto/paleo/low carb.

The best thing is the knowledge given to reinforce our positive choice to be healthy and teach us so that we can inform others in life in conversation and referencing what we have learned from Dr Ekberg.

I do laugh at some of Ekbergs comments though I laughed 3 times in this video I think his comments on bad food are unintentionally funny at times, bless him

    • Elizabeth K on August 18, 2023 at 12:57 pm

    • Susanne W. on August 18, 2023 at 1:54 pm

I agree, if you can not get your family on board, life is even harder after these eye opening videos

    • Jim Rutherford on August 18, 2023 at 5:05 pm

Remember, most people don’t have the discipline to turn away from all that addictive food. Even if it shortens their lifespan. I had a coworker who has diabetes tell me to my face she will never give up her fast food even if it makes her sick.

    • Greta Vains on August 18, 2023 at 6:53 pm

Yes eventually they have too because they will be very sick😢

  11. Cindy D on August 18, 2023 at 12:24 pm

Thank you for all of your detailed information. My husband and I are drastically changing what we eat now. I cleaned out our pantry and fridge/freezer from all the processed foods that corporations tell us are healthy, but are actually making us sick. We have found out that awareness is the first step to changing our lives. You have helped open our eyes. Thank you, Dr. Ekberg. You’re truly a life saver. 🤗

    • Tina S on August 18, 2023 at 8:04 pm

To keep on track, we eat at home 99% of the time. I just keep educating myself and watching other YouTubers that are positive and motivating. Be well! 🎉

    • Noel Hughes on August 18, 2023 at 8:44 pm

      @cindyd2430
It is the easiest thing to do and most enjoyable too, to increase one’s awareness by expanding consciousness. It is achieved by learning how to experience transcendental consciousness (Samadhi). It also clears all the stress from the mind/body that has taken up a permanent presence there. Just go to a TM Centre to be instructed.

Carbohydrates =Glucose! Glucose =raised insulin!!! And there’s no difference in the way our bodies use Glucose foods that holds those carbs. Wow….finally someone who can actually explain in a way that makes me understand why I become type 2 diabetic….I ate my way into it!!!
I can now eat my way out.

    Hello Doctor Ekberg!

First of all, I want to thank you for introducing me to all the aspects and benefits of fasting! I have now gone from three (bad) meals per day plus snacks to only one meal per day (on the days that I eat). I try to take one entire day off per week and, once every month or two, take three or more off to achieve autophagy. For a quick background of where I’m coming from, I was into a lot of athletics when I was young as well as being in the IT world for over five decades now (let’s just say that one of those two areas keeps you healthier than the other! LOL.). However, my PhD work was in the Neuroscience field and I’m always curious to learn more things, especially areas that seem to be overlooked.

That said, I have a question for you that may sound ridiculous on the surface: Why do we eat?

For this discussion I will ignore the social impacts of dining, interacting and the pure enjoyment of consuming certain foods. I am also excluding hydration needs except as they pertain to dietary fiber. What I am interested in are the biological requirements and benefits of consuming “food” daily. I will also lump all categories, like vitamins, into the word “supplements.”

Sure, in the past, people ate to extract the nutrients in food because it was the only method to obtain these nutrients. Now foods we eat have less than 20% of the nutrients that they used to due to over-farming and other causes. Food also has far more negative contents than it ever used to (pesticides, toxic chemicals pulled from the soil, intentional processing and modification, etc.). But we also now have supplements! I’ve researched many supplements for years and take quite a few regularly (ok, I take a lot!). Once, I had a friend state “Those shouldn’t be replacing food!” At the time I pointed out that they were literally just “supplementing” my food intake, but this is where my question is coming from.

Since the majority of what we consume ends up as waste in the sewer system after we’ve (hopefully) extracted as much of the nutrient content that we can, what are the other reasons we still need to eat actual food? We constantly read about how you should eat this or should not eat that with some of the same foods being mentioned on both lists! Intuitively, I’m sensing that replacing all food with just the “supplements” you need has its own issues (even ignoring how many should be “taken with food” which, I presume, means they require something else to kick off their digestion), but I’m also curious about some future approach where supplements provide the bulk of the nutrients with only some “medium” being required.

Interestingly, even though I spend a lot on those supplements, basic food prices are skyrocketing, so finding a good balance is my current goal.

Thanks for an excellent and informative channel! 🙂

  18. Hmmm.. on August 18, 2023 at 7:41 pm

Eating real food, with plenty of low carb vegetables as Dr. E has suggested. I’ve lost 33 pounds and feel satisfied and stable for the first time while “dieting “. I was unwittingly starving myself, ruining my metabolism for many years with low calorie diets. I’m so thankful for Dr. Ekberg. He’s an international treasure!!

    • Patricia Claus on August 19, 2023 at 12:25 pm

Same here… I did Nutrisystem four times. Gained back all of the weight, and much faster than I had put it on. The only question is, do they know this is a fraud?? And when did they know it??

    • Hmmm.. on August 19, 2023 at 4:45 pm

@Patricia Claus I was on WW a few times. Awful!! Eating boneless, skinless chicken, almost no EVOO, (too many calories). And unsatisfying veggies…of course with no butter. I didn’t buy their packaged chemical concoctions they tried to sell and pass off as food but I was hungry and cranky and starving. Never again!!! My go-to breakfast now is at noon. I eat 3 or 4 eggs cooked in butter with cheese and sprouts.

    • Pat Claus on August 19, 2023 at 5:55 pm

@Hmmm.. Excellent! Doesn’t it feel like we’ve finally found the key to good health? All thanks to this holistic doctor.

Maybe I’m a geek, but I really appreciate Dr E going over the chemical structures and metabolic processes. Helps me make sense of why we are doing these dietary changes against everything we’ve ever been taught!
