Every year, a few times a year, I have a bad reaction to poison ivy. This time, it has affected my eye.

Each time I was exposed and had a bad reaction, I was given prednisone. It got to the point where, after I was exposed, the effects of the poison ivy wouldn’t go away after using prednisone.

People typically take prednisone for its anti-inflammatory or immune suppressant effects. But, prednisone has side effects.

Prednisone is a synthetic version of cortisol. Cortisol has benefits. It’s a hormone that helps the immune system and prepares the body for stress. But, high cortisol levels can lead to a lot of health concerns.

You don’t want to be on prednisone forever. The more you take it, the more it weakens the system. But, if you stop taking it, your symptoms may come back. So, why don't we get to the root problem? Keep in mind that once you start taking prednisone, it’s important not to come off of it too fast. Prednisone and cortisol also deplete the body of numerous vitamins and minerals.

The best ways to lower cortisol:
1. Lower your stress (do physical work, exercise, spend more time on a hobby, and take certain nutrients)
2. Take ashwagandha
3. Try breathing exercises
4. Use an HRV device to better understand your stress

Agree with all that. These ‘real’ doctors coming on YouTube refuting this and that are annoying. He is a doctor in everything but name and knows more about nutrition and how the body works than most of them, yet they ‘should’ be trusted because they are pharma based and passed a test lol. Many doctors have an agenda, this guy just wants to get people well through natural means first and foremost.

Poison ivy oils are very volatile; if you’re extremely sensitive you can get it from the air. No one is thinking about how bad you look, just concerned for how bad you feel – wishing you a speedy recovery, Dr. Berg!

I used to live in Florida and kept breaking out with poison ivy symptoms and didn’t know why. Finally I figured it out. I had a ice cream filled mango at work. I know I touched my face, rubbed my eyes after eating it and got all irritated.
Here I had a mango tree in my backyard and every time I cut the grass I would come in contact with the tree.
Come to find out that mango is related to poison ivy. 🙄

Just an idea , if the poison ivy is happening at the same time each year someone could be burning it and inhaling can cause a person to have a break-out. My mom has allergic reactions to the inhaling the smoke from poison ivy. The broad leaf plantain idea is a winner. Thank you for all of your videos and time putting them together.

There was a family about sixty years ago that their daughter was extremely reactive to poison oak. The Dr. recommended that they get a nanny goat, feed her poison oak, milk her and have the daughter drink it daily. It worked for their daughter. Something about the process of the digestive enzymes to milk makes it safe to drink. BUT the allergic person was not to touch or milk the nanny. Know anyone that has goats that they milk? Can’t hurt and goat milk is better for you.
