Overview of the Healthy Ketogenic Diet:

DATA:

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder is typically diagnosed by identifying the following ADHD symptoms:
•Makes mistakes easily
•Lack of attention to detail
•Does not listen when spoken to directly
•Doesn’t complete tasks
•Cannot play quietly
•Problems organizing
•Loses things
•Frequent fidgeting
•Too much energy
•Talks too much

Many ADHD symptoms are normal childhood behaviors, and a poor diet can exaggerate all of them.

ADHD is often treated with Adderall and Ritalin, which make lots of money for Big Pharma. The definition of ADHD has been dramatically expanded to make it more diagnosable, putting more people on medication.

A double-blinded study showed that after 36 months, any benefits from Adderall faded to zero.
It also has side effects such as aggressive behavior or a dulled mood.

ADHD involves a metabolic problem with the prefrontal cortex of the brain. These metabolic changes affect the way the brain metabolizes fuel. If the brain is starved of fuel, you may exhibit symptoms like a lack of attention and hyperactivity. Chemicals like food dyes, artificial sweeteners, sugar, starch, and MSG tremendously impact behavior.

Increasing dopamine can improve focus and feelings of calmness. Foods such as meat, fish, eggs, and cheese are high in the amino acid L-tyrosine, the precursor to dopamine.

Research has shown that micronutrients, especially B6, magnesium, and zinc, can significantly decrease ADHD symptoms. Omega-3 fatty acids and fish oils can also improve symptoms without side effects.

Vitamin B1 is one of the most overlooked nutrients, especially in psychiatric conditions. When a child consumes a lot of glucose, vitamin B1 is depleted, inhibiting the brain’s ability to utilize fuel.

If an adult or child is experiencing ADHD symptoms, they should switch to a low-carb diet so their body can run on ketones. Ketones will fuel the neurons and restore a sense of calmness and increased attention span.

    Nutrition is everything! Thank you!

    • @Goji_Bear on May 12, 2025 at 11:07 am

No. It’s not everything. Light is even more important than diet. Most vaccines will also give you these problems and that has nothing to do with diet. Are you getting the full spectrum of the sun? Red sunrise sunlight, middle of the day and sunset?

    • @NCrdwlf on May 12, 2025 at 11:30 am

      Sure is

    • @anomaly864 on May 12, 2025 at 1:08 pm

The healthiest food in the grocery store is in the outer perimeter (except the bakery). At least 90% of everything in the middle aisles will inevitably give you heart disease, diabetes, cancer, liver and kidney failure and brain damage. If the ingredients list on the package is a wall of text, it’s poison slop.

I needed to watch this. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 2021 and was prescribed Concerta but didn’t wanna use it because of side effects, so I’ve done nothing to help my situation. I’m 30 years old and feel stuck.

    • @abcd14486 on May 12, 2025 at 10:41 am

You can also try saffron supplementation, i have adhd too and it really helped me, i’ve been doing keto + 30mg of safranal everyday for 8 months now and i have close to no symptoms of ADHD.
Be careful when you buy the saffron pills, you must make sure there is 30mg of “SAFRANAL”. Companies often say “extract of saffron” which contains negligible doses of safranal.

    • @Andrej89NS on May 12, 2025 at 10:44 am

Go on a carnivoor or keto diet

    • @abcd14486 on May 12, 2025 at 10:46 am

saffron suplementation has shown amazing results, even better than ritaline, keto + 30mg of safranal every day works well.

    • @cesarcesar1961 on May 12, 2025 at 10:57 am

Cut refined sugar, white bread, white rice. Don’t drink alcohol. Ingest more whole grains, quinoa, flax seeds, and other antioxidant foods.

    • @JudyPoody on May 12, 2025 at 10:58 am

Or try a Naturopath Dr. I don’t like prescriptions so when I was diagnosed I went to a Nat. and he told me to try 5htp. It worked for me. That was in 2000 have been on them since. But there’s other natural treatments besides 5htp.

  3. @C.N.1 on May 12, 2025 at 10:40 am

They can’t imagine living a completely 100% sober lifestyle as I do, so they want the people around them on prescriptions. Most of the people who claim that Adderall and other prescription drugs are safe, more than likely are using them themselves, so the guilt and shame cause them to want others to be on dope. Y’all know I’m telling the facts!!

  4. @Suzanne-dy1bn on May 12, 2025 at 11:01 am

I totally agree. I am 66 years old. As a child was always active and loved to have fun. 😂 I thank goodness every day that my generation from parents in the 1958 did not readily test for ADHD. In my mid thirties, a doctor said I had ADHD and tried to put me medication. I rejected that idea. In my 40’s, I totally realized the importance of eating a whole food diet which includes red meat. However, it was until my early sixties , I discovered from low fat was unhealthy. As well as how added sugar is in everything. So now I read labels and try to stick to a simple single ingredient meals . And I cut out the grains.

  5. @drtoyu7045 on May 12, 2025 at 11:03 am

ADHD was never heard of in the 60’s through the early 80’s and our diets and foods were much different then. Looks at the obesity, mental health and ADHD problems we have now. Mcdonalds was a occasional treat now it’s regular diet for many. When you slowly change to a healthy diet and healthy living your whole life improves!

Correct.. today.. all these mental health/behavioral health issues are OFF THE FREAKING HOOK. We might have had one kid who demonstrated some of these issues.. and I went to a fairly large Grade school & High school.

  6. @mattbaker337 on May 12, 2025 at 11:06 am

The most overlooked ingredient needed for a child’s attention at school is TEACHERS who want to teach. I was diagnosed with ADHD in 1977. I always ranked around 495/500 (children in my year) in a subject I hated, then I get given a teacher who LOVED the subject which resulted in ranking 25/500. I was also put on a strict diet – no preservatives, sugar etc….mum was told to put me on Ritalin but at that time it was being used as quote “a geriatric drug” and she didn’t feel right giving it to me

    • @cda6590 on May 12, 2025 at 11:50 am

I sincerely believe your story to be true and have heard many others along similar lines. Even in my own upbringing the people who stuck out to me the most during my high school years were a handful of teachers who *cared* about the subject and put the work in to teach it effectively.

This still does not excuse Dr. Berg’s horrible scientific approach of assuming that dietary and lifestyle changes alleviating symptoms automatically implies that the condition in question is caused exclusively by environmental factors.

He is flat out ignoring *decades* of research by thousands of scientists who would scoff at this video’s premise.

    • @vanessac1965 on May 12, 2025 at 1:00 pm

I’m glad your mother protected you

    • @ashton1952 on May 12, 2025 at 1:01 pm

@mattbaker Agree with you and teachers treated ‘different’ kids horribly because back in the 70’s people didn’t care to know what ADD was. A child was simply considered ‘otherwise’ and ‘erratic’, and hit or sent out of the classroom.
And re. teachers wanting to teach I agree but teachers also need to earn a decent salary; don’t know what it’s like there, but here we can barely survive off the salary. It’s work where one is constantly giving and it requires very good people skills, unlike sitting in an office at a computer where one can have a bad day and hide away.

    • @dianasimplifies on May 12, 2025 at 1:14 pm

Did the no preservatives and no sugar help at all?

Pharma does not want people to get well by thinking for themselves and eating well. They want you taking medication

    • @justjosie8963 on May 12, 2025 at 1:47 pm

It’s typical in context of health and nutrition. Just basics are totally overlooked in hospitals like the diet-they give you sugar, dairy, rolls, carbs but at least a protien if you’re lucky. They serve crappy bullion. I was recovering from sepsis infection and woke tp blairing non-stop MSN w all the horrible and negative vibes. Maybe it was good because I had to gain consciousness in order get my first words out “why are you torturing me???” @@a.m.1568

  8. @EuroCitizen86 on May 12, 2025 at 11:17 am

Over half of my high school had ADHD and that is not an exaggeration, They all ate terrible low quality processed foods and scoffed at nutritious whole foods. Those of us with no ADHD came in with home cooked food and at home ate good food.

    • @natalieamberger2432 on May 12, 2025 at 12:16 pm

Yeees, was that way when i was in school and my own kids who ate good and got made fun of e everday.

❤2024 I will never forget how I walk down stairs without having any pain. Because for some years I couldn’t hardly walk without a walker or cane. However it’s a great blessing to be able to do things that I couldn’t do before. just being able to go places and road trips a true blessing Thank you Keto fasting.

  10. @christensenc8767 on May 12, 2025 at 11:43 am

I’ve noticed over the past 6 months, when on a keto plan, my eyesight, adhd, gut health and my brain fog, amongst a plethora of other benefits has drastically became better. I’m less irritable, my mood is more stable and I’ve begun loosing alot of weight. I owe all of my growth to Dr. BERG for enlightening me after years of exhaustion, depression, moodiness. Thank you!!

    • @nicolemazurak9245 on May 12, 2025 at 2:11 pm

      Same here!

    • @tammyc1812 on May 12, 2025 at 2:43 pm

I went from having really good eyesight to having double vision overnight, I went from having bad tinnitus to having horrific tinnitus in about a month and a half. Not sleeping well, but that’s nothing new. I know better than to go to a dr, they would only make it worse

    • @RandomHuTaoSimp on May 12, 2025 at 2:46 pm

Now go CARNIVORE, and you’ll literally make it WAY better and actually cure everything. (literally not even kidding) especially if you drop cheat days and go grass fed and finished organic on everything. Also have pasture raised organic corn and soy free eggs, and organ grind hamburger. And you will absolutely thrive. But also make sure to add a small amount of fermented foods like raw milk kefir and sauerkraut. Those things is like the icing on the cake with restoring lost microbes due to environmental anti biotics.

  11. @KHUZAFARAUF on May 12, 2025 at 11:44 am

I have lactose intolerance along with Gluten allergy. With that I have diagnosed ADHD which made my life really hard. 6 years ago I started doing Keto just for the allergies problems. I swear, with time I felt a huge shift in my mood and depression level as well. I was clear, doing better and I remember I literally told my close friends I am so happy these days. After being on Strict Keto for 6 months, because of a vacation, I slipped back into high carb diet. That was the time when I realized it was all in the fuel I was putting in. After that, I try to be low carb almost all the time. Although in our culture, food is a major point of connecting with your friends and family, and sometimes I have to make compromises but the awareness of this fact has made life pretty easy. Also, Kudos to Dr. Berg. Almost every doctor I visited advised against Keto because I am skinny and dont need to loose fat, I followed Dr. Berg advice and I am so happy I did. It helped me tons.

    • @dreamhousejewels158 on May 12, 2025 at 12:51 pm

Can you please tell me the fasting time and fasting tips of keto

    • @BOBBIS-s5g on May 12, 2025 at 1:27 pm

I’m so glad you wrote this because Im trying keto as well, I’m skinny like you- which I can’t afford to lose weight, so I’m tooling around to manage that issue. Yesterday I decided I was cutting dairy out because I know it has an impact on mood and attention, especially if you have sensitivities. I wish you good health and take care.

Here I am 65, I started out very sick at birth, wheat, dairy intolerant. Severe sugar problems began(diet). School was a complete fail. Crazy acting with mental issues in 20s. Skip to early 30s, diagnosed borderline diabetic , very ill, gaveup MDs. started practicing Ayurveda, herbal medicine, cleansing regularly, at 40 switched to blood type diet, at 41 diagnosed with wheat intolerance. Clean diet healthy living, I am well, free of DRs. I think clearly and learn easily… future looks bright…retired..

Congratulations! You actually worked on improving your health instead just following the crowd. I see people walking around looking like they never give their health a thought. Walking around with massive bellies, arms and legs lookin like they got stung by bees.

There was a study that showed that children in France have the least amount of ADHD then most other countries.

Then, they saw that it was because of their diet in France which has the least amount of sugar and almost no fast food. They eat vegetables, good protein and less of the bad foods.

I do believe that mild cases can be a nutritional issue, but I would not discount the genetic aspect of this disorder. There has to be some connection with genetics, for example, in my case, for the last three generations in my family tree 8 out of 10 have or had before their death, this disorder. And the symptoms are moderate to severe

    • @bluebell483 on May 12, 2025 at 1:46 pm

I agree , the same with my family

  16. @bluebomber1003 on May 12, 2025 at 1:30 pm

I used to date a teacher who told me that there was a very clear difference in the kids who had sugar for breakfast and the ones that didn’t.
The ones that did would go full blast until around noon. Then crash and be lazy and miserable the rest of the day.
The other ones, which were far fewer in numbers, would be even keel pretty much the whole day.

  17. @johnbenischek5622 on May 12, 2025 at 1:39 pm

Dr. Berg is 100% correct about ADHD. After suffering from that condition all of my life, I switched to Keto and started taking all the supplements that Dr B recommended and then my ADHD and brain fog disappeared. I wish I had known about this when I was a child, but hey, better late than never.

    • @D4rkBl4de on May 12, 2025 at 2:55 pm

Yep, I tried carnivore and it was even better.

  18. @amandamoran8496 on May 12, 2025 at 1:54 pm

Dr. Berg….i have been watching your videos for several months now. I have implemented your suggestions over time. My ADHD HAS GOTTEN BETTER OVER THIS TIME! My brain fog has been clearing up, my mood is great, and I’ve lost weight! All these improvements have been so helpful and informative! I also don’t need my ADHD medication anymore.

    • @amandamoran8496 on May 12, 2025 at 3:11 pm

Dr. berg…as this pertains to your topic today…could you explain what adderral and Ritalin do to your digestive tract?

  19. @willmunoz360 on May 12, 2025 at 2:02 pm

I was diagnosed with ADHD,as an adult. I’ve take meds mentioned in the video. On the contrary, I had to go through an extensive examination: verbal, written, and computerized exams. Also, had to submit school records/grades from high school to college…also, I noticed I’m better off on the intermittent fasting and Keto diet…meds do help, significantly!✊
