There is a big myth about apple cider vinegar, and it has to do with the "mother." Let’s talk about it.
The mother in apple cider vinegar is a combination of two things: friendly bacteria and enzymes. You can’t actually see bacteria or enzymes. This means you can’t see the true mother in apple cider vinegar.
What you see at the bottom of a bottle of apple cider vinegar is the leftovers of the fermentation process. It’s just unfiltered particles from the apples or maybe fiber—there’s not necessarily enzymes or probiotics in it.
When apple cider vinegar is pasteurized, the heat kills bacteria and enzymes. High pressure can also kill bacteria and enzymes.
Fairchild’s is the only brand of apple cider vinegar that produces and sells their product. They produce a high-quality organic raw apple cider vinegar product. It’s also undiluted and much stronger than Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, which is diluted with water.
I don’t get anything from promoting their product, but when I find a really good product like this one, I like to share it with others.

I unsubscribed from grifter Thomas and many others because of this. Why can’t content creators figure out how much obtrusive ads hurt their channel?
I agree!
@@yourgooglemeister6745 Absolutely. It became clear to me that Thomas DeLiar doesn’t practice what he preaches. He is a steroid infused he-man who pretends that he got his physique from being on keto. Anyone can tell that he is not natural. Also, his narrative changes constantly. He releases so many videos that suggest you change everything every few days. His channel preys on people’s anxieties about their health – making you think you need to obsess about everything and that his way is the only way and that you need to react to each new “development” he concocts for his viewers. He is also a grifter as you say. It’s all about hits and paid sponsors. No human in the world could actually be using all the products he claims he personally uses. He is one person I steer everybody away from if they are trying to work on their health. I just regret that I followed him as long as I did.
Wow, been a Braggs customer for decades. Very disappointing to hear that it’s not as advertised. Guess I’ll be switching. Thank you for always giving us unfiltered truth. God bless.👍🏻🙂
Yep I been off Braggs… none of the top name brands that are advertised or most heard about! The “bad” guys own them all.
@@jayj23rdifyI don’t understand. Is he saying Bragg is bad? That’s the one I use.
Bragg’s now owned by Katy Perry and Bill Gates, says it all!

Thank you for the informative video, Dr Eric. Since taking apple cider vinegar in March 2023, I’ve been under the delusion that the sediment was the mother and would give the bottle a good shake until it vanished from the bottom LOL! Thanks for the heads up about Fairchild’s. I get my raw and unfiltered vinegar (5%) from Costco in the UK, but I will check out who stocks Fairchild’s.
Ostlers in Devon do a good one at a decent price.
If you leave the cap off your vinegar, the mother will form.
@@reflux043 Which type of vinegar do you recommend? Thanks
@@richardjohnston4682 Personally, i use Bragg with Honey. The stories about that brand changing the recipe is false. You just need to do the research on the other side, instead of having a confirmation bias based on what you heard on social media. You could always make your own vinegar. I recommend Glen & Friends Cooking channel on youtube, for making apple cider vinegar, pineapple vinegar, and beer vinegar.

Don’t be foolish like me: always dilute ACV before drinking. I drank a spoonful of undiluted Fairchild’s ACV a few months ago, and had a minor chemical burn in my throat for 2 weeks that was quite painful.
That’s you. I used to take acv just with a spoon.
@hifumibestgirl – I had the same awful experience! I felt as if I had a sore throat. You should NEVER consume undiluted vinegar. Great advice! Thanks for sharing!
You’re not supposed to take it undiluted! The acidity will strip the enamel off your teeth too, so NEVER drink it straight. 🙄

Dr. Berg, thank you for confirming my suspicion. Earlier, this year, I went to buy Braggs ACV but it was all out so I bought the Fairchild brand. It looked & tasted more potent. In comparison, Braggs seemed like a watered down version.
That’s because it is…lol.
Not sure if it’s urban myth. But didn’t katie perry bought the braggs company

I’ve never done acv but I’ve been following you for quite awhile. In 2016 a CT scan showed I had nafld and it was extremely inflamed. I followed your advice and in May 2023 while going through alot of exams and tests because i was getting mitral valve repair, I had another ct scan. It showed no nafld, my liver is normal size. However it showed a lump on my lower left lung that they said doesn’t look concerning and they won’t check again for a year.
Hopefully by then that will be gone.
Great 👍 Dr Berg’s videos /articles on the lungs and on tumours may also help.
Please tell me what all u did! I need help! Glad ur ok now
Dr. Berg, I want to tell you about something that happened to me yesterday. Background first. It is 11-8-2023. I am 79 years old and have suffered with Glaucoma and now beginning stages of Macular Degeneration. A few days ago I watched your video on Vitamin A. Knowing most doctors don’t talk of vitamins, my two Opthalmalogists in particular, I was intrigued with what you said. I am taking a boatload of your recommendations, so I figured I would add Vitamin A to the list. So, I ordered a low dosage. I took one pill. ONE. The next day, yesterday, my daughter drove me to Emory Hospital for my current check up with one Opthalmalogist. While sitting in the waiting room, I looked over at my daughter and said that I could SEE and READ the tv screen in the room !!! Then, the technician came for us. He asked me to read what I could see on their wall screen, and got more and more excited as I saw smaller and smaller letters. Bottom line…..I was reading 20/20. I have been ( as I like to tell it ) blind as a bat since I was 8 years of age ! The Macular Degeneration and Glaucoma damage is still there, but I could SEE ! I was thrilled to have my daughter as well as the technician WITNESS this for themselves. My daughter asked if she could take a screenshot photo of the info on his computer of some of the PAST information about my problems with occasional double vision, and he said Yes. NOW, next week she will take me to my OTHER Opthalmologist appointment, wondering if these results will still “ hold “. As far as damage, what is done is done, but maybe…..maybe this might help slow…..or even stop the progression of either of the diseases……..and maybe my vision will stay steady at my lovely beautiful fantastic 20/20 from yesterday ! I am giving Jesus number one credit and giving you, Dr. Berg number two credit. Sooooo, last night guess what I did ! I took my SECOND Vitamin A pill ! Hallelujah ! ( Sorry, HAD to tell you, even if it butted into your report about Bragg’s vinegar. ). Again, today is 11-8-2023. ❤️
Praise God !!! what a wonderful testimony !!!
@@dutchess314 I am still floating on clouds from what happened yesterday ! After getting home, I ordered my daughter two bottles of this same Vitamin A……for her family to start taking .👍
Wow, this is fantastic – would love to add this to our success stories so others can benefit – is this possible? If you could send us an email at drberg@drberg.com. that would be great – Dr B
One pill did NOT change your vision. You do realize you get vitamin A from foods too. It’s not a miracle pill.
Wow thank you for sharing ❤
At first I also drank Bragg Apple Cider Vinegar, but I switched to making my own apple cider vinegar from fresh apples a long time ago. And my opinion is that the apple cider vinegar I make is by far much tastier, despite the fact that the process is of course not standardized, i.e. each batch turns out to be different. In fact, the taste even depends on how long it sits in the bottle after bottling before I drink it. Still, they’re all much tastier than Bragg!
I make mine from the cores and the bruised peels. Super easy and essentially free.
I’ve made fruit vinegar before but not apple cider vinegar. Do you get that gluttonous (sp?) blob at the bottom of your jar when you make your apple cider vinegar? I wonder what Dr. Berg would say about that. Everyone else is saying it’s the mother. That’ll be interesting to hear his ideas.
@@terryhall2299 Yes, that is the mother. Usually it forms at the top. Sometimes, it sinks to the bottom, but not too often. When it becomes too big, I put it in the blender with the ACV and use it all together.
Can you give the recipe, for the apples
@@inesmeneses8570 You really don’t need any special science or preparation to make homemade apple cider vinegar! Simply buy a few pounds of apples, preferably good sweet ones, although sour apples can also be made. Get a large enough pot with a lid. Wash the apples, then chop them all into the pot. You can also cut in the apple cores. You don’t have to peel the apples beforehand, the peel can go in as well. If you also cut the peel, it will taste more tart, so it will give your vinegar a more individual taste, and it will also contain more vitamins. However, in this case, the chemicals with which the apples were sprayed, waxed, polished, etc. can also get into your vinegar.
Then mix some water with a little sugar. No matter what kind of sugar. Honey is not really a good substitute for sugar. Three or four tablespoons of sugar is enough for a good-sized pot. In the last case, it also works if you don’t add any sugar at all, only then the process is much slower. And the more sugar you add, the stronger your vinegar will be.
Pour the sugary juice over the apples, then add more water to cover the apple pieces.
Since apples are lighter than water, some apple pieces will stick out on top, but don’t worry. For the first two or three days, stir it a little once or twice a day so that the water touches everything. But after that, don’t poke anymore.
Cover the pots, but not completely airtight, because then it will not be vinegar but wine…
You have to wait about 3 weeks. Do not use hot water to prepare it! If you have previously prepared homemade apple cider vinegar, you can pour a tablespoon of it on the new portion being preparated at the beginning as an inoculating agent, it speeds up the process.
If a stretchy gray or whitish snot-like mass appears on top, don’t be alarmed, that’s GOOD, because that stretchy thing is a colony of vinegar-making microscopic fungi!
And this slime is also edible and full of vitamins!
This is the real “Mother”!
And it’s only slimy at first while it’s still thin and young. If you leave it for a long time, it will become thick and like rubber.
However, if you see yellowish, greenish or reddish mold on top, remove those pieces immediately.
After four weeks, strain it, put it in bottles and use it. It is likely that the slimy “Mother” will form again on top of the liquid after bottling, because it matures longer, but don’t worry about that, the vinegar will be even tastier!
This is very interesting! I’ve been buying Bragg’s but this past summer for the first time I made my own ACV and this disc formed at the bottom, just like in Kombucha making. Found out from Mary’s Nest yt channel that this disc is the actual mother (which is never in the bottled stuff).
Actually, on the bottom of my Bragg vinegar was a disc. It was slimy and disgusting. I had to pull it out so I didn’t drink it from the bottom of my glass.
Wow! You did NOT offend me..but I did believe the sludge at the bottom of my Bragg ACV WAS the “Mother”…as always you’re bringing us information we can all benefit from. Thank you Dr. Berg!
Lol 😅
The “mother” actually looks like an off white very large(golf ball size) Amoeba is the best way I can describe it.
That being said that white sediment in the bottom of the ACV if it has not been pasteurized will contain active bacteria
If that bacteria is living you can put a teaspoon of it into a gallon of pure undiluted apple juice( no it does not have to be fermented) and leave it in a cool DARK place for about six weeks and it will become vinegar. If you are extremely lucky it will develop a mother. If it does just decant the vinegar and leave the mother. Then add fresh apple juice to the mother to keep it going. You can split a mother in two to share with someone.
My grandmother and several of my aunts kept mothers. I saw them do this hundreds of times.
I boycotted Bragg’s after hearing Katy Perry bought it and saw comments that it was watered down. I’ll look for Fairchild now. Thank you Dr. Berg for all your health advice 😊 I’m almost 61, pretty healthy and can’t remember the last time I went to the doctor. I’m not on any meds!
I did the same. Once I found out that she owns it, I instantly stopped buying it. It’s nice to hear about this brand of ACV. I’ll start purchasing this one.

hank you Dr. Berg for clearing up this issue and for bringing out the truth about the enzymes, bacteria and mother as a whole and what is really behind the companies and the company that sold it and who bought it. By the way out of 3 people that bought Bragg’s, there is a history behind this one person. Her family knew Susan Bragg’s, so she basically grew up with her.

Dr Berg, I work in the wine industry and just wanted to drop a note. We do not pasteurize our wine here. None of the wineries around us do. We also try to minimize the use of sulphur and tartaric acid, with some wineries here refusing to use any additions of anything at all to their wine.
