Our bodies become more vulnerable as we age, so what we eat and drink is vital to our health. Here are the foods to avoid after 50!
1. Unfiltered water
I noticed that my tap water is high in a chemical called perfluorooctanoic acid. The amount of this chemical in my water supply exceeds the acceptable level by 98,650%! This increases my risk for cancer, liver problems, and kidney problems. Most of the water supply contains forever chemicals that don't break down and accumulate in the brain. Find a good water filter that filters out forever chemicals!
2. Foods that deplete zinc
Zinc supports testosterone, which significantly decreases in both men and women with aging. Testosterone is essential for muscle mass and supports thymus function. Zinc is also involved in making hydrochloric acid. Refined carbohydrates and starches deplete zinc.
3. Seed oils
Seed oils can become stored in the membranes of cells, including the cells in your brain. Instead, use butter, tallow, lard, or olive oil for cooking.
4. Refined soy products
Soy protein isolates are used in many products, such as protein bars that are marketed as healthy. You do not want to consume refined, unnatural protein like soy protein isolate.
5. Low-fat foods
Vitamin K2 is vital as you age, and it’s only found in fatty foods. If you follow a low-fat diet, you’re depriving yourself of an essential nutrient that can keep your bones and joints healthy.
Magnesium supports good quality deep sleep, which is crucial as we age. Taking a magnesium glycinate supplement before bed is one of the best ways to increase your magnesium intake and improve sleep.
Instead of focusing on salt restriction, focus on increasing potassium and incorporating high-quality sea salt into your diet.

I thought I knew what I wanted, but clearly, the algorithm knows better
Algorithm knows more than your spouse 😂
I’m 38, but this is still excellent to know. 👍🏿
The video discusses foods to avoid after age 50, including unfiltered water, zinc-depleting foods, seed oils, refined soy products, and low-fat foods. It also provides tips for healthy aging, such as increasing magnesium and potassium intake.
Once again, Dr Berg heartens our day!
I`ll be 60 in August. Feeling it on a fixed income. I can`t afford the foods I need and have no car in a very rural area in Louisiana with chronic pain and schizoaffective disorder. I`ve planted a lot of fruit trees, berries and vegetables over the past two years and my protein is imported sardines in olive oil, some salmon, beans/peas/peanuts and occasional tuna in water. I just ordered 16 ounces of very expensive olive oil as a supplement to eat with my berries, garden beans and vegetables. I hope to get a few chickens as companion pets for eggs.
Sounds like a great plan.
Great plan and you may need more protein. ground beef can be very inexpensive. As well as a chuck roast in the slow cooker – one roast can be many meals. Also ground turkey and pork are delicious and inexpensive too.
I cannot know what your pain is like, but something that really helps me, is alternating between having a hot water bottle and an ice pack — I usually swap them over approximately five minutes apart, and it really helps.
Another thing is using distraction, and trying to find something to focus on intently, and it helps to take away some of the constant nagging of chronic pain.
If anyone has any other suggestions or tips, I would be very grateful.
I have classical Ehlers Danlos Syndrome, and have many dislocations and subluxations every day (I woke up with my right wrist dislocated and it is so bad, it takes the focus off my other joints aching!).
Ur doing good things keep ur head up stay positive I feel ur pain
Fig are easy to grow and you can multilpy them by cuttings. Grows fast, figs sometimes in 2nd year.
This hit home for me. Watching my parents go through health challenges made me realize how crucial diet is as we age. I never thought twice about ‘forever chemicals’ or processed soy before, but this really opened my eyes. Thank you for shedding light on these risks in such a clear way
Watching the same right now.
The greatest doctor in the world, Dr. Berg! I don’t know what I would do without him.
WHY is there an ACCEPTABLE level of any chemical in our water?! That is crazy to even say
That’s life, even before industrial civilization.
Because the US Agency that regulates our tap water could care less about how it affects our health. 🤦🏼♀️ The same happens with our FDA. The USA is a complete mess…
Why, is because you have to accept some level of all things since nothing is 100% efficient at filtering all of out. How, and why you should care, is because people have accepted that it is the governments job to “collectively” steer us right vs leaving it to human beings themselves to choose thus creating best practices over time. – We need a free market, even in water and air.
Don’t forget to add flouride to that. It depletes your thyroid, causing more problems.
@gThomasHagg
Probably because they leave it up to the individual to pay to outfit their home with an appropriate system to filter their own water. However , to do so is costly .
Summary for you
🔥 Foods & Substances to Avoid After 50:
❌Tap water may contain toxic “forever chemicals” — use a good water filter.
❌Refined carbs & sugars deplete zinc and B1, speed up aging, and harm skin, eyes, and immunity.
❌Seed oils and deep-fried foods cause brain inflammation and harden arteries.
❌Refined soy and low-fat products can damage liver, skin, and bones due to missing nutrients.
👉What to focus on instead:
✅Use healthy fats (butter, olive oil, fish oil)
✅Get more magnesium, potassium, vitamin K2, silica
✅Choose clean water and whole, nutrient-dense foods
💌Thanks for great video.
THANKS SO MUCH FOR THIS SUMMARY!!!
Thanks

Thank you Doctor. I have made a lot of changes in my diet( for better) watching your videos and improved my health. You are ‘the’ person who knows everything on a cellular level.
Every cell in my body is now healthy and happy, and filled with love and light.
I’m 48 and try to apply these principles and I would not have known this wisdom if it weren’t for Dr. Berg. I appreciate and love to listen to your videos. We need more of you practing this in the Western med clinics.
With all the chemicals in our food and water it’s surprising we live to the age of 60. There should be laws against this, if we tried to poison someone we would be in prison.
I remember after doing keto for a few years I had fried chicken one day from a restaurant, and the next day I looked and felt about 5 years older and it took me a few days to feel better.
I’ve made the same experience!
I did too I took a bite of an Egg McMuffin when the power went out for a few days from a hurricane and I went to McDonald’s. Took a bite and it repulsed me and I spit in out. 🤮 I have not eaten in any restaurants in over a year.
Happened to me. You know what else? Monster drink. One day I feel good and wanted to experiment with Monster, fours hours later I found myself more tired than if I had not consumed that
I just sent this to a family member over 50 and they found it really helpful. Thank you, Dr. ❤
We recently switched to distilling our drinking water vs filtering it. Very happy. A quality steam distiller ensures that you are drinking clean water. Can add ionic minerals to the water to remineralize it.
I’m 57 and recovering from breast cancer (2 years cancer free next month!). I can’t remember how I came across Dr Berg, but if he is reading this…..thank you for your videos. You have helped me immensely when it comes to chemo induced neuropathy. I’ve worked on cleaning up my diet based on your videos, and it cracks me up when people I know can’t believe how well I’m doing. They have told me that I look even better than I did just before I got diagnosed! Thank you so much!
His people will probably pass that along to him. I’m glad you’re 2 years cancer free.
I’ve eaten healthy most of my life and worked out and run for exercise. I’m 67 years old and am suffering from colon issues. Not sure what I did wrong in my life but I am also curtailing my diet even more. Mostly fruits and vegetables, and supplements recommended by Dr. Berg. Im slowly getting better but it’s hard to go from healthy to almost bedridden in less than a year. Prayers please 🙏🏻
🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻♥️♥️♥️
Praying you will get healed…🙏🙏🙏❤❤❤
I have been following your guidelines for 2 years intermittent fasting for 1 year. At 75 years old, I feel great and lowered all my numbers, and I lost 25 pounds. Thank you Dr.Berg.
Good job. Keep up the good work. Would you like to share your Keto/ IF success story on my website? I’d be happy to see your story there. Feel free to upload your story here: https://www.drberg.com/add-client-success-story
I have a Berkeley water system with a fluoride filter as well. Our water everywhere is full of poisons. A lot to do with the Chem trails being sprayed in our sky’s! I have found that eating out the foods are cooked in seed oils and margins and very harmful oils ! When I do eat out I get sick right away. This video is spot on information ! I love you and how you are caring for us daily.
