Today, we’re going to talk about the most common symptom of gallstones and natural remedies for gallstones.

It turns out that the most common symptom of gallstones is having no symptoms at all. 80% of people with gallstones don’t experience any symptoms until the situation worsens.

Other symptoms of gallstones or a gallbladder problem:
• Pain or tightness under the right ribcage
• Pain under the right rhomboid
• Pain in the neck that runs up the side of the face
• Nausea
• Vomiting
• Bloating
• Belching
• Jaundice
• Dark urine
• Pale stool

Gallstones can form when a person has high cholesterol and a lack of bile. Bile helps thin and eliminate cholesterol. A deficiency of bile is the real problem.

The gallbladder is an important organ that helps you store and concentrate bile and absorb fat-soluble nutrients.

Bile sludge is a common problem that can also cause pain, even when there aren’t any stones. Bile sludge can occur at different times but can be a complication after having your gallbladder removed, causing some of the same symptoms that lead you to have surgery.

Risk factors for getting gallstones:
• Pregnancy
• Birth control pills
• Obesity
• Type-2 diabetes
• Liver disease
• Constipation
• Low folate
• Taking PPIs
• Consuming a high-carb diet
• Consuming a low-fat diet

Natural ways to help get rid of gallstones:
1. Take purified bile salts and probiotics
2. Consume salad
3. Use acupressure
4. Decrease your insulin (do intermittent fasting and go on the keto diet)

Thank you for the info Dr Berg 😊 for me: I can write chapters when it comes to gallstone pain, yet from the recent therapies that I’ve accidentally discovered: is adding few drops of Nigella seed oil to my tea each morning. I’ve noticed that it stops any nausea or gallbladder pain, at least for few hours, plus Dr Berg’s own Gallbladder Formula, which is fantastic as well for anyone who has this problem.

    • David on January 26, 2023 at 1:15 pm

@Sabrina and husband yes it will. I believe I have done the most flushes out of anyone on the planet haha I even created my own version because I had to do so many and drinking olive oil is disgusting. This is my simple routine below.

      4 apples between 1 to 2pm.
5pm put a tbsp of Epsom salts on your tongue then quickly drink water.
      Then again straight after.

Now eat a fatty meal (instead of drinking olive oil). One that works very well for me is a 3 egg omelette with cheese. I also have a tuna sandwich with cheese and butter.

Shortly after I see a crazy amount of stones come out but it obviously depends on how many you have.

      Good luck

    • Sabrina and husband on January 26, 2023 at 1:29 pm

@David Thanks for the recipe 😊

    • Tina M on January 26, 2023 at 3:20 pm

a cup of apple juice and 1 or 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar (w/the mother) can stop a gallbladder attack nearly immediately. You can have your doctor do an ultrasound so you can see if the walls are thickening or if you’re in danger of a rupture. I hate when people try to scare others into having surgery they might not need because they don’t understand their bodies. Most of the most deadly things we’re in danger of cause no pain so we can’t just rely on pain signals.

    • Sabrina and husband on January 26, 2023 at 6:08 pm

I’ve had gallstones, and everything Dr. Berg said is true. This happened in 2013 when I was only 20 years old. I remember thinking it was very serious because I had no idea what it could have be plus I was very young. A few days later I had my gallbladder removed, and some days before this I went to the clinic, just before my appointment I was in the bathroom and noticed my eyes were yellow, Jaundice in other words. A bit later the “doctor” asked if I was depressed, I said no not really, I said that my eyes were yellow in color he then googles “Yellow Eyes” how he got through medicine school is the greatest mystery ever. This is still the most bisarre moment of my life.

I had gallstones in the December 2014. I felt sick after eating fatty food. One night after another big meal i had such a pain under my rib that i had to call 911 to come and get me to the hospital. In the hospital i got injected with morphine and i felt so much better but i had to stay in the hospital for 5 days. It was 2 days before Christmas. Doc told me they need to remove my gallbladder after the holidays cause he is leaving to Europe for Xmas. After the holidays i felt better so i let it go and never showed up at the docs office. 5 months later i ended up in the hospital again. This time with Pancreatitis. The stones left my gallbladder and got stuck in a bile duct. So removal oF my GB was no longer needed. Doc put me under anesthesia and put a long tube in my mouth all the way to my stomach where they pushed my 3 stones into my intestines . I flushed them out later. So i got to keep my gallbladder and im perfectly fine for 9 years already 😊

    • SharkFish on January 26, 2023 at 12:44 pm

Wonderful to know this ❤️. I too had an experience like this, but didn’t involve hospitalisation the second time. I drank apple juice for 2 weeks continuously and suddenly the stone started moving and got stuck in the middle of my stomach below the rib cage. I kept massaging it and it felt like I was swallowing it down. And it felt like a rebirth literally.
i have one more, so I’ll probably do the same soon and get it over with. Good to know.

So timely! Earlier this week my husband was diagnosed with gallstones and the Dr immediately wanted to schedule for surgery. We put the brakes on it. We had cut sugar out, low carb not keto and do intermittent fasting now. First thing we said to each other was “lets see what Dr. Berg has to say”. Hopefully the bile salt will make the difference. Interesting how the scheduler said “oh you don’t need your gallbladder, I don’t have mine. But then shared story about how badly shed had pancreatitis.” We watched several other of his episodes on the gallbladder and excited to see this mornings episode was on topic for us. Thank you Dr. Berg!

@D D My TUDCA regimen dosage was 2,000 mg (3 times per day: first dose in the morning, second around midday, last dose before bedtime) while completely fasted (no food, coffee or tea…water only) so that there was no interference from other biocompounds interacting within the liver.

@Miles Graydon did u drink a lot of water? Dehydration can also be a factor.

    • 3dEmil on January 26, 2023 at 5:34 pm

@Miles Graydon can you please share your symptoms and what made you remove your gallbladder? A couple of years ago my wife was diagnosed with gallstones after she experienced terrible abdominal pain with nausea periods lasting sometimes a few minutes and sometimes could go like an hour. Sometimes they happen every day or every few days in a row and sometimes many months without these symptoms. They usually come after she eats but we couldn’t identify which foods exactly are causing this because eating the same food or food combinations does not cause these symptoms on consistent bases. Also she constipate very often. Doctor suggested to avoid fatty food and if this doesn’t help surgery as an option. She is suffering a lot when she has that pain but trying to avoid surgery as long as she can.

    • Milton Bates on January 26, 2023 at 5:39 pm

@Jose Amor I actually supplement with Trophic brand Niacinamide along with AOR brand Advanced B-Complex. Both are Canadian brands. The AOR B-Complex contains Niacin as Inositol Hexanicotinate. Hope that helps to clarify.

I sure wish I’d had this information 7 years ago. I had so many of these symptoms! I had emergency surgery in 2016 to remove my gallbladder, which was rupturing. I almost died. I truly feel that if I’d had Dr. Berg’s information back then, I could have avoided this surgery and near death experience. I learned the hard way to pay more attention to the signs my body sends me. 57lbs down since 2021, I am dedicated to staying healthy. Love Dr. Berg!

  11. Gracieeexx99 on January 26, 2023 at 1:39 pm

Thank you Dr. Berg! I have been watching your videos for years now and watched many on symptoms of gallstones last year, as I believed I had them. I went to around 30 different practices who shook me off, all the while feeling nauseous, unable to eat, early satiety, Globus sensation, sharp pains in my right shoulder blade, chest pains and rib pain. Finally took a HIDA scan which found my ejection fraction to be off. Got the surgery and when they opened up my gallbladder I had 8 stones!!!! Thank you so much for informing me of the warning signs and to keep pushing for all 5 months! I feel so much better.

I’m doing fine, but I lost the ability to send/receive any texts, emails, or phone calls, so, I have Zero communication with my family and friends….I’m sad and frustrated over that. It’s been “deactivated” since January 14, ’23. Yes, bill is current….one friend says my phone took damage from hackers….so, oh well.

Always a clear explanation of the cause, the effect and the result. I used to get the symptoms as described. I watched Dr Berg and decided to try bile salts, I did a short course of his bile salts and I no longer had the discomfort and pain when I ate a high fat mean. I eat way more fats since I started Keto and my whole body and mind are working better every day.

  14. T Jones on January 26, 2023 at 2:26 pm

Another symptom I have experienced is extreme skin itch all over the body, it was unbearable. The reason I know it has something to do with an internal issue is that the itch only started at night, so I knew it couldn’t have been environmentally triggered. Plus I occasionally got pain/pressure on my right low rib case. So I took bile salt like Dr Berg suggested on one of his videos and that resolves the problems. Thanks so much Dr Berg

    • Miles Graydon on January 26, 2023 at 4:13 pm

I took bile salts 3X a day for about 2 years and wile it did help manage my symptoms and keep stone attacks to a minimum, it did not dissolve any stones. I would suggest monitoring with an ultrasound every year or two. Mine was overflowing with stones and I finally got it out last summer.

    • Living 2Day on January 26, 2023 at 4:27 pm

My mom was in early stage liver failure due to prescribed meds. Her complaint was itchy skin, especially the bottom of her feet. She finally called the doctor’s nurse to ask what product would work to relieve itching. That nurse told her stop taking meds, come in immediately. The nurse later informed my mom that itchy skin is one of the early symptoms of liver failure.

    • T Jones on January 26, 2023 at 4:39 pm

@Living 2Day Yes I don’t rule that out as the potential cause. So my liver enzyme test came back normal, so I didn’t place that as top concern yet. Yes my grandma experienced the same as your mom (especially bottom of feet), and her doctor said it was her kidney is close to failing. The doc was right, her kidney function is 20 GFR out of 120 (that’s very low). But I’m sure my grandma also has liver problems as well, as she’s been taking meds over half the century.

Another risk factor is 😬 YO-YO DIETING, particularly between high-fat and super low-fat.

When my mom had bariatric surgery years ago, they told her “btw, your gallbladder was full of stones, so we took it out for ya while we were in there.” When she asked why she had gallstones, the surgeon said “Oh, we see this all the time in our patients who have done a lot of extreme dieting, especially Medi-fast, which you’ve done.” For context, back in the 90s Medifast was really extreme- only thin, watery “shakes” and sad little crackers. My mom yo-yoed between this ultra low calorie, ultra low fat diet and the high fat, high sugar Standard American Diet (SAD) many times. We theorize that it gave her poor gallbladder whiplash oscillating between high fat and low fat so much, causing the stones.

  18. Dave Parker on January 26, 2023 at 3:38 pm

When I started getting right rib pain from sludge/stones last week I did an experiment : I jumped up and down as if I was skipping with a rope for a few minutes at a time, four times that day. I wanted to see if the bile sloshing around might help break up the sludge/help it through the ducts in a physical way – it helped a LOT ! Pain went, has not come back yet. I will keep experimenting with jumping and see if it works.
I take digestive enzymes, eat a lot of cruciferous veg and a bit of protein twice a day, do IF, and also sometimes take selenium and B complex. The less carbs/sugar I have, the better I feel.

Thanks a ton for the video Dr. Berg! Can intermittent fasting, like having one meal a day, worsen the problem as the gallbladder would not have an opportunity to squeeze and get rid of the stored bile?
