Today, I’m going to share one of the best ways to reduce stress. It can also help those who struggle to fall asleep or stay asleep at night.
This simple stress-release technique works fast, is free, and has many health benefits. It will help balance the parasympathetic nervous system, which is all about “rest and digest.”
This easy breathing technique is based on a book called Heart Coherence 365.
What you need to remember is 365, which stands for:
• 3 times a day
• 6 breaths per minute
• 5 minutes
Three times a day, you’re going to take six breaths per minute for five minutes.
It’s important to make sure you take deep, even breaths through your nose using your stomach. You should feel your diaphragm going out and in.
This breathing technique for stress can also help improve HRV (heart rate variability). HRV has a lot to do with your health and fitness reserves.
An HRV (heart rate variability) device can help you better understand and improve your health and nervous system balance.

Thanks for watching! Give this simple tip for stress relief a try. I’ll see you in the next video.
Need this today as 2 weeks of family serious health problems & hospitalised, keeping a cool head & carrying on in a calm positive state of mind. No time to crumble 😊
I use a similar technique..
if I remember it correctly – it’s called “a square breath”…
basically, one full breath takes about 16 seconds or longer if you capable (so there are almost 4 per minute or fewer)…
you slowly count to four on every stage:
1) inhale through the nose slowly & deeply while counting to 4…
2) hold, while counting to 4..
3) exhale slowly (counting to 4) – preferably through nose…
4) hold, while counting to 4..
👍💪💥💥
ps. I do it even while walking 😁 instead of counting seconds I’m counting steps.. usually I count to four, but sometimes I manage 5…
it’s amazing 💪💯💥
I’m sorry to hear that. Hope everything goes well.
❤❤❤ I’ll have you in my thoughts with a positive attitude and good karma .
❤️🙏♥️
Blessings to you and yours! 😊
You’re absolutely right. Also withdrawing yourself as possible from toxic individuals helps. Thank you for all your continuous educational content, Dr Berg 🙏🏻
Agree. Thanks for your comment.
For falling asleep or back to sleep, picture a number in your mind like 99. Focus on it for 2 or 3 seconds and count backwards 98, 97, so on while focusing on watching the number. This keeps your mind from racing which is what often happens when we wake in the middle of the night. You could also imagine yourself in a peaceful setting while watching the numbers count down.
Works great even for stubborn OCD obsession thoughts
For me that’s too much cognitive work, but I’m happy that it works for you and for other people.
I prefer repeating the same thing.
Thanks and respect to you Dr. Berg for your humanitarian kindness in sharing this stress reducing and overall mental, emotional improving information!
I needed this .
Always to the rescue , doctor Berg !
Thank you very much !❤
Great. Glad I was able to help. Take care.
I really needed this video today. Had terrible insomnia the last few nights. Thanks Dr Berg!
Hope it helps!

@@MsBellasworldFree is good sometimes. 😀
I don’t know why I have high level of anxiety. Even a silly thing can put me in stress and I become the victim of Insomnia.
@@rukhsarmahfooz3795Key is to know what to do about anxiety / stress. Dr Berg’s videos /articles on anxiety and stress relief may also help.
This goes way deeper than people think. What Dr Berg is explaining is a way to bring yourself to the present now. When you are stressed, have anxiety or are depressed you are lost in thought. The past and future does not exist. You cannot experience the past nor the future, you can only experience the now. Time is a measurement, that is all. There are different ways of obtaining this and focusing on breathing is one of them.
The past is what depresses me
All the more reason to be grateful that it is over. Rejoice in the present and give thanks for the here and now!
@@patsyhampton7996Dr Berg’s videos /articles on stress relief, on depression, ect, may help.
Focusing on any of the senses achieves the same thing too especially when focusing on listening to all the sounds you can here (helps if you close your eyes) or focusing on everything you can physically feel ie the feeling of your feet on the floor or the feeling of your clothes on your body etc however when you do deep breathing exercises you can immediately feel the stress and tension physically disappear in your neck and shoulders… It’s literally amazing!
Oops… hear not here! 😂
I’m a special needs school bus driver and I needed this 16yrs ago! Thankx Dr. Berg!!💜
I know what you mean ‼️ Better late than never❗
Do you umm, have special needs or just drive a bus with special needs kids? Or both?
How amazing is this, I saw this video this morning and was telling myself, I’ve had a pretty good few weeks being fairly stress free and managed using Dr Bergs tips.
And guess what, freaky day, stress is back
Yup this works miracles! I do the box breathing method, using just your nose to inhale and exhale, through the diaphragm…Been doing this for years, specially before presentations and tough stressful days. Thanks Dr. Berg!
I needed this right now, perfect timing. Just got out of a very stressful situation and now I have more tools to stay relaxed and calm. Stay away from toxic neighbors❗
Thanks again Dr. Berg💕🙏
Yeah u can choose friends not neighbours
I can relate !! Ugh ,
I was taught deep breathing using the mantra, “inhale the love, exhale the fear”, or anger, or stress, or whatever you have going on. Do it over and over until things have shifted. It works.
That’s nice. Thanks for the idea.
Brill thanks
I also saw some very interesting videos on bioenergetics which may tie into this breathing with mantras pratice.
So powerful… you could call it magical.
Dr berg’s videos helped me way better than any doctor in my entire life.
How grateful I am.
Just breathe deeply, don’t think about the 6 breaths per minute or about counting. The key thing is to do it for about 5 minutes if possible. Taking deep breaths after exercising and before bed are a must I find, so about 10 minutes of deep breathing per day. Listen to your body, do what works for you.
I’ve been practicing this for years I can do it for 2 hours while watching a movie. And let me tell you I feel lit it helps my mood big time I swear I reach enlightenment especially if you keep your thoughts positive
Tbh Dr Berg’s voice and the way he speaks is very calming. ♥️Thank you
This is exactly why I now teach meditation techniques. After learning this years ago, it completely changed my life. In spiritual practices this concept goes much deeper than surface level self development. It’s so exciting to see Dr. Berg spreading the word. Great video 👏🏻
Thank you Dr. Berg. You are helping change lives. Keep up the good work x
I was upset about something when I clicked on this video and did the slow breathing and it worked! Thank you. I’m so happy about the newsletter ❤
For those who are starting to deal with anxiety, or suffer from anxiety disorders, give this a shot and give it time. In the beginning you might think that this is useless, but anxiety wants you to think that you have to solve everything right now. Give this time, be consistent, add some meditation (again, difficult to start, but do a few minutes daily). I also do similar breathing before my lunch, and other than helping me get into a calmer state, it helps reduce GERD. Because I am then mindful while eating (I tend to eat slower, and chew food more), and my breathing and stomach are more relaxed. So if you want to hit two birds with one stone, I suggest you do some of this before eating.
