Did you know that without enough zinc, you will die? Over 200 to 300 different enzymes in your body require zinc!
Avoid these 4 big zinc supplement mistakes!
1. Taking too much zinc
Zinc and copper work together and compete for absorption. Always take copper with zinc to avoid a copper deficiency.
Some parts of the immune system benefit from high doses of zinc, while others thrive with just the right amount of zinc. Taking 100 to 200 mg of zinc for 3 days is beneficial if you have an inflammatory infection, but high doses of zinc for extended periods can also be damaging. Know when to take zinc and avoid high doses for long periods.
2. No cofactors taken with zinc
Cofactors are vitamins and minerals that work together to allow our biochemistry to work. For zinc to function properly in the body, you need adequate magnesium, vitamin B6, and folate.
3. Not knowing when you’re deficient
White nail spots can sometimes indicate a zinc deficiency, but how can you know for sure if you’re deficient? Try the zinc test! Take a small amount of zinc in your mouth and swish it around. If you can taste the metallic taste, you are not deficient. If you can’t taste anything, you need more zinc.
4. Taking too little zinc
Taking too little zinc is just as bad as taking too much! Carbohydrates contain phytic acid, which blocks zinc. This is why zinc deficiency is so common in children. Diarrhea can deplete zinc and other minerals, and low stomach acid can inhibit mineral absorption. Alcohol, pregnancy, and high estrogen from birth control pills can also increase your demand for zinc.
Red meat, shellfish, liver, and oysters are the best sources of zinc. If you opt for supplements, you must take at least 30 mg of zinc daily for a therapeutic effect. Zinc works best when taken with food, but it still works on an empty stomach.

My Daddy swears by everything you say. Thank you for all you do. He and my bonus mama are so healthy because they listen to everything you say!! I’m starting back on my journey to health again.
“Bonus mama”. I guess your Dad gave that handle. If so, I like the way your Dad thinks. That’s a great way to look at it. He knows how to reframe things into something positive. That is so important in life.
Great doc mr berg
Great animations these days 🎉
❤ My first cardiologist didn’t believe in doing fasting and also He was a in and out the room within 5 minutes I left him hanging. My new heart doctor told me that I could do fasting but to go slow and check my blood pressure and A1c and all that other stuff he said I will see you in 6 months. He loves my blood work results and he asked me What vitamins were I taking, how long do I fast, and always do fasting with someone else in the house to check on me he knows that my LDL numbers never been this good since 1982 that was the year I started having heart problems. But anyway it’s a good feeling to be healthier and to see that Doctors believe in fasting because all the long years I’ve been on pills and diet, shots none of them was helping me
Good job ❤
Please don’t waste time worrying about your LDL. Rather, check your triglycerides in your lipid panel. Your triglycerides should be around the same number as your HDL result.
And long may you be blessed with good health too, great news 🙏
Awesome doc.
If you stop the Seed oils, too much Omega 6, just olive oil, – Omega 3 for frying and add to smoothies, sandwiches, anywhere.
This is a eye opener, thank you for sharing this you saving lives
I’ve been taking a ZMA supplement before bed for the past 25 years and at 52 I still have all my hair, my testosterone levels are still high and I rarely ever get sick!
Then u should take some low dose copper to balance out. Do a blood test i only have taken moderate sink on and off for 10 yrs. But rarely any copper. I was within normal range of both but my sink was significantly higher than copper.
I love that!
What is ZMA?
❤ one thing that I love about Dr Berg. Dr.Berg doesn’t sugar coat anything like most local doctor’s.❤
Amen
Sugar causes insulin resistance 😏

He fiber coats it.
Dr. Berg, thank you. You really come to the rescue at key moments in my life. It seems each time symptoms show up that require a supplement, a video of yours shows up. I would love to know your background. How you came to know these things because I’m pretty sure it’s not taught in most programs. The info you share is invaluable. Thanks again!
I agree, its so amazing how these vlogs show up at the right time, a Godincidence I believe 🙏
Knowledge is power !
Thank you Dr. Berg for explaining self healthcare !
For anyone regularly fasting, could 1 recommend the best combination of copper, zinc & potassium is:
● SunFlower, Pumpkin seeds & postachois??
● + lime, salt in drinking water.
Pistachios?
Hi Dr Berg I have noticed in your recent videos you have mentioned the superior bioavailability of animal proteins compared to plants / vegetables because of the anti nutrients they contain (Phytic Acid, Oxalates etc). Are you now more leaning towards a carnivore diet as apposed to the Keto Diet? It would be awesome if you could do a detailed video on the Bioavailability of foods for example Red Meat & Eggs vs Kale & Spinach. All 4 contain high amounts of nutrients however many would argue nutrients in Meat & eggs are actually used & absorbed by the body whilst very little of the nutrients from Kale and Spinach are used & absorbed due to the Anti Nutrients they contain (Lack of bioavailability).
The editing have become literally amazing
This old style format video in front of the board is much more pleasing and fun to watch and understand than just the talking head with stock video inserts. This is absolutely the way to go.
💯
I 2nd this
I agree it’s easier to follow
Yep. I like it.
100% agreed 😊
Is there ever coming a time where a “comprehensive supplement” can be bought, trusted and utilized? Seemingly every time I get to what I believe is great supplementation another video surfaces telling me I need something else. It never ends.
Exactly.
Yeah it’s really annoying everyday some new video on youtube telling me what I am doing is wrong and the next day it’s something else
Oh wow, you’ve hit on such a *brilliant* point, and honestly, that feeling of ‘it never ends’ is something so many people struggle with! It’s totally understandable to feel overwhelmed by all the information out there.
My quick tip to cut through the noise is this: Instead of asking ‘what *else* do I need?’, try shifting your focus to ‘what are my *foundational* nutrient needs, and what specific gaps am I *actually* trying to fill for *my* unique body?’ This perspective can make the entire journey feel so much more intentional and less overwhelming, I promise!
Speaking of getting to the bottom of it, I actually made a full video breaking down this exact topic, which dives deep into how to build a truly trustworthy and effective supplement routine without the endless chase. I think it could really help clarify things for you!
💯
Something to Zinc about
I Zinc,therefore I am.

Dr Berg zincs too much !
Im glad you zinc for yourself
What are you zincing about?
Warning warning a YouTuber called metabolic mindset is stealing all your videos and even using your image and name
Luv the white board.
As we grow older, we try so hard to do the right things for our health—but sometimes, even good intentions can lead to mistakes. This video is a powerful reminder for seniors to stay informed. Thank you for speaking to what many of us quietly wonder about.
He is back in front of the board! Woooo
I’ve been taking zinc for years. I recently started taking ZMA because it contains 30mgs Zinc, 450mg Magnesium and 10 of B6. Helps with sleep as well. Eric is the only doctor i follow, and I am very well versed on the topic of health and wellness. If every GP educated their patients in this manner, we’d be a very healthy society. Big pharma wouldn’t be pleased, but that just reinforces the need for people like Dr. Berg. 🙏
