5:17 Learn more about how to get rid of mucus!

Today I want to share an interesting tip to get rid of mucus in the sinuses.

This remedy may be beneficial if you’re experiencing:
• Postnasal drip
• Chronic rhinitis or sinusitis
• Sinus pressure
• Sinus headaches or cluster headaches
• Sinus allergies

Common treatments for nasal congestion are steroids, medications, or even surgery. But, these options can have side effects or complications.

One of the best natural remedies for mucus in the sinuses is hot peppers. You can consume hot peppers or use a nasal spray containing hot pepper.

This is very different from pepper spray—we’re talking about a very diluted solution.

Instead of suppressing mucus, the phytonutrient in hot peppers may help drain mucus from the sinuses and reduce nasal hyperactivity.

It can potentially help open the sinuses, drain the sinuses, and desensitize the mucus membranes in the sinuses. It’s also antimicrobial.

Try consuming cottage cheese to help neutralize the effects of consuming hot peppers if needed.

Good morning everyone, thank you Dr. Berg you have just saved my life!! I’m constantly battling drainage into my lungs and having difficulty breathing because of my sinuses due to my allergies ✝️

    • Chris on April 6, 2023 at 1:16 pm

      so what did you do?

    • Linda Bueckert on April 6, 2023 at 2:12 pm

Black Seed oil or Quercetin has helped me a lot with this. Also removing foods that cause the post nasal drip

    • Helena Handkart on April 6, 2023 at 2:47 pm

@Linda Bueckert what foods did you remove, please?

    • Linda Bueckert on April 6, 2023 at 2:51 pm

@Helena Handkart  for myself I had to remove dairy, gluten, sugar, chocolate, and raw vegetables. I found out I had gastritis so I am working to heal my stomach.

    • Bob S on April 6, 2023 at 2:57 pm

i lost 30 lbs since last april after i watched the never eat sugar again vid. best advice i have gotten in my entire life. i currently weigh 147, at 6 feet. seem to have reached a stable weight. i still have a bit of gut flab, maybe have to start crunches or walking for that.

  2. Mother F. Trucker on April 6, 2023 at 10:07 am

My sinus cleared completely and I was able to stop allergy medicine and nasal spray. Got rid of the inflammation with a keto carnivore diet. Spicy foods were my main craving when feeling my worst symptoms of sinusitis

  3. Marlene Paulino on April 6, 2023 at 10:09 am

Omg every day at 6 am Dr. Berg posts about something that’s affecting me or someone I know. If I were a paranoid person I would think my phone is listening to me and giving my data directly to and only to Dr . Berg. Thank you for this. I’ve been suffering for weeks now. I can see a fungal infection inside my nostrils now and steroids and Amoxicillin have done have helped but it keeps coming back.

Maybe you can try some Oregano oil, blackseed oil, lavendar oil; using them alternating times and days. what I am doing is; 3 days straight regimen of Oregano oil ( i use it in water but you can use it in something like tea, just don’t use juice) Lavendar oil in the evening before bed, Blackseed oil for 3 days use the bottle directions for dosage recommendations. I take one day off where I hydrate and don’t do anything. I also take higher doses of Vitamin D3, a naturally derived form of C, and make a hot toddy from Organic turmeric, cinnamon, clove, ginger and cayenne. (some people can’t tolerate all of those ingredients together but it really packs a punch!) Good luck to you. I’ve been battling a reoccurring infection as well. However; I am getting relief and feel like it might be winding down now. If you don’t do the one thing that is crucial; and that is; drastically reducing or eliminating sugar and simple carbs which turn into sugar in the body; then you’ll struggle to get rid of infection. When you say that you see ‘fungal’ inside of your nose? what do you mean? Are you seeing any thrush on your tongue? You can use a bulb and irrigate your nose with pure redding pink salt. I use about 1/2 a teaspoon in warm filtered water. squeeze it in one nostril and then hold that nostril shut while turning your head to the side, then alternate.
Keep in mind that sometimes the enemy to your sinus is drying it out too much. So, that’s where the lavendar comes in. It can help to rehydrate and moisturize your nasal passages. This is what I do; not that you should do it; but, it might help you even more than the antibiotics that you are using.

I used to live on sinus medicine. When I became a carnivore my sinuses cleared up. I still have a yearly sinus infection in the spring time but that’s better than dealing with it year round. Thanks for the info so I can treat and reduce my next infection.

    • Adrian Vye on April 6, 2023 at 2:33 pm

Sinus infections are 99% environmental. Move by the sea and they will evaporate. Live below sea level as in most American cities and put up with it.

    • Helena Handkart on April 6, 2023 at 2:52 pm

@Adrian Vye our diet strongly influences how we respond to environmental triggers. It can exacerbate, mitigate or even neutralise them.

    • torpol on April 6, 2023 at 6:05 pm

my chronic 50+ years of DAILY nasal allergies went 99.9% away after I had been on a pretty strict Keto diet.

    • Adrian Vye on April 6, 2023 at 6:16 pm

@torpol could you kindly describe your diet? Thanks.

    • Adrian Vye on April 6, 2023 at 6:57 pm

@Helena Handkart agreed. After all the cavemen survived to become who we are today.

  7. Sabrina and husband on April 6, 2023 at 10:22 am

I had sinus infection like symptoms recently, and I noticed that using garlic infused olive oil ( I make it at home) by applying it inside my nostrils; using an ear cotton pud, has improved it. Thanks for the info Dr Berg 🌸

    • John Dorney on April 6, 2023 at 2:46 pm

Also oreganol is excellent and killing gum abscesses, I had a bad one since last August, nothin worked, not prescription mouthwash ( chlorhexidine, OTC mouthwash, salt , chlorine dioxide ( closys). Started oreganol on March 24 2023, abscess is just about gone!! I put 3 drops in half a shot glass full of warm water and hold in mouth for about 3 minutes 2 times a day. Then swallow, it works

    • Winnie Kyn on April 6, 2023 at 2:47 pm

@Sabrina and husband ok, thanks 👍

    • Carbage Man on April 6, 2023 at 3:41 pm

I often use tea tree oil with lavender oil, diluted with almond oil, and I often soften up my messed up nose with that on a Q-tip. That seems to help it heal.

PS: I’ve got a whole bottle of it I made and I forgot the exact formula I used, so I hope I won’t need it much in the future!

When sick, I make what I call “Cure or Kill Tea”, which is hot green tea with ground hot chiles, a crushed garlic clove, grated ginger, and honey. Really gets things moving.

When I had Covid, it really helped. Not just sinuses, but lungs also. After drinking it, I’d have some very productive coughs.

    • Paula Green on April 6, 2023 at 3:37 pm

Do you have an actual recipe?

  10. Sofia de Abreu on April 6, 2023 at 10:31 am

You have no idea how I needed this video today! Almost couldn’t breathe last night

  11. Tara Keels on April 6, 2023 at 10:44 am

A Mexican grandma told us to put a pinch of salt under he tongue to counteract hot pepper heat—it works. I love HOT stuff & when my allergies are bad—we go for Indian food, which I always order “Indian hot”. Clears my sinuses REALLY fast, so the hot pepper thing makes perfect sense. I didn’t realize I could dilute & spray up my nose—GENIUS! I’m going to try it. I was in a bad head on tangle w/ a semi years ago & my whole face was shattered into bits & had to be rebuilt, so I don’t drain well & get LOTS of infections—definitely going to try this!

    Thanks!
    TK

Hot pepper is great for clearing sinus but a lot of people are sensitive and intolerant to hot pepper

One time I was so desperate with a terrible sinus infection I honestly used REALLY diluted kimchi liquid with a Navage sinus flusher. Worked like a charm! Xylitol, saline, and warmish water were used too.

  14. W S on April 6, 2023 at 11:33 am

I had sinusplasty and turbinate reduction three months ago. What a difference! I have a lot less mucus and phlegm. Besides being able to breath well. And my mouth is no longer dry.

    • Winnie Kyn on April 6, 2023 at 1:51 pm

What you do to reduce it?

    • Angela Davis on April 6, 2023 at 3:08 pm

I had sinuplasty a few years ago and it has helped so much!

    • Carbage Man on April 6, 2023 at 3:49 pm

I’ve been thinking about something like that, having broken my nose as a child and not really having lingering affects, but having night-time breathing issues as an adult, even after losing weight. I will not entertain the idea of a CPAP machine.

Sounds like you’ve stopped mouth-breathing. 👍 When my breathing is bad I can tell partly because my mouth is dry. 😞 I know that’s a really bad sign for oxygen supply.

  15. A.W. on April 6, 2023 at 11:46 am

Thank you for this relevant information, Dr. Berg. So educational and helpful. Your videos on saline solution rinses have helped me considerably. Thank you 🙏

Dr Berg, thank you. I struggled for YEARS every year with sinus issues. My go to ended up being Flonase or Pulmicort both a corticosteroid. Well I ended up with extremely high eyeball pressure … so I stopped them and did a few prolonged fasts giving my body a break and it worked. However, I would love to have some spray…. do you have any recommended products? And, if eating peppers, how does one stave off the burning intestines hours later … cottage cheese?

  19. Kim on April 6, 2023 at 6:17 pm

Just perfect timing! I was waiting for a doctors appointment for some abx…looking for a natural remedy!! Thanks as always Dr. Berg! 🙏🏻
