I’ve covered natural remedies for psoriasis before, but I’m always on the lookout for additional ways to help people.

I recently found a new natural remedy that I’m excited about, and you may want to talk to your doctor about it.

With psoriasis, a person has an accelerated growth rate of certain skin cells. This can cause redness and dry flaking patches of skin.

There is a high association between gut problems and psoriasis. There is also a high association between joint problems and psoriasis.

It’s thought that people with psoriasis have a problem with a very important structure in the skin called GAG.

NAG (n-acetyl glucosamine) is a precursor or building block for GAG. Some interesting data shows that NAG can improve psoriasis. It may also help with gut problems and joint problems.

If you’re going to try this remedy, consider taking 1,000 to 2,000 mg over time.

Hello again Paul, first time I bumped into you outside the small engine channels. Good to see you have interest in health too. Chiropractors like Dr Berg and Osteopaths are where the best health information comes from these days. I dropped out of Allopathic(alloPATHETIC) health care a Decade ago and am currently in the best health of my life. Health is Wealth, and Food is Medicine

    • Paul Campbell on May 1, 2023 at 10:29 am

@WisconsinEric Right on Eric! I’m glad you have found what works for you. I’m a former personal trainer, and have been active for most of my life. I mostly ride a bicycle for exercise, as I sold my weights during 2020. My mother is turning 80 this year, and our dedication to healthy lifestyle is what binds us (she’s a yoga fanatic).

I had psoriasis over 20 years ago. I had it from eating dairy and bad food in general. Leaving away the dairy didn’t help but fasting did. I’m glad I had a real doctor back then. Of course I had to pay him by myself, the social security don’t cover something that helps people. After the fasting I could eat dairy again and whenever my skin got worse I just reduced dairy. I never drank milk again though. Reducing refined sugar and grains to a minimum is what kept me healthy as well, probably.

    • K.B on May 1, 2023 at 6:34 pm

@Infiniti25i prefer natural kefir without added sugars for me it tastes good but homemade is much better its has much more good bacteria

    • cFeor on May 1, 2023 at 7:15 pm

For me similar results but I found it wasn’t because it was simply dairy. I had eczema flair ups from the regular milk I drank but when I switched to raw milk it did the opposite and helped clear my eczema. It was a great feeling that I didn’t have to let go of dairy but just the pasteurized milk. It’s not good for your gut, skin, immune system especially if you get digestive issues from it.

    • Infiniti25 on May 1, 2023 at 7:16 pm

@K.B I’ve tried the store kefir, but I have had my own milk kefir grains since last year so I’m on home made all of the time, with maybe 1 bottle a month of store bought to sample flavour choices I might consider for a second ferment.

    • Infiniti25 on May 1, 2023 at 7:18 pm

@cFeor I’ve also read in other comment sections about there being two different type of milk protein, I think they referred to it as A1 protein and A2 protein. Think they were referring to cow milk, but might also apply to other milk types like goat milk…I don’t have goat milk so haven’t checked

    • Pamela Timbush on May 1, 2023 at 6:21 pm

Hhhmmm 🤔 that’s interesting does it help with REALLY dry skin? I don’t have psoriasis, but I all the sudden have very dry skin (which I’ve NEVER had) since I started going through menopause 🤷‍♀️😔. I may just need to up my D3 and K2 more if that helps. Thanks for any help in advance!😊

    • Sabrina and husband on May 1, 2023 at 7:19 pm

@Pamela Timbush I haven’t gone through that stage yet, but I remember Dr Berg having a video about menopause, and coconut oil in general is good to keep your skin dehydrated.

My remedy for 30+ years of psoriasis. Removed from my diet (in chronological order): white sugar (used for tea/coffee), snacks, bread, pasta, and other flour-based products, fruit, alcohol. At some point I realised that wounds I had for decades just faded and disappeared. Somewhere around the time where I stopped eating pasta/bread.

    • Petya on May 1, 2023 at 11:23 am

very interesting. how much of a jump in p healing was there for you once you removed fruit?

My personal experience was by 3 main things I focused on:
1- less sugar in all foods
2-relaxing and take things easy, no stress at all.
3- fasting, Ramadan helped amazingly and I continue doing fasting every Monday and Thursday. Even if no full fasting on Monday and Thursday, but I drink water when I need, and only one meal morning or afternoon, and the other light meal evening, and mostly focusing on vegetable in the evening meal. And all gone the dryness on my face and legs.
P.s, I Applied a mixture of ( olive oil, honey and turmeric) only when am home, for comfort

  10. MrRabiddogg on May 1, 2023 at 11:41 am

I have psoriasis and when I went full keto, it seemed to have gone away. Also, vitamin D seems to help alot.

    • Steve34 on May 1, 2023 at 6:14 pm

Vitamin D cures/ treats most diseases.

I’m free from psoriasis for almost a year now. It only affected the palms of my hands. I was taking 100mg of cyclosporine 3 times daily if this dreadful med. I decided to do keto, exercise, and avoid all stresses. My dermatologist was shocked. Life style changes can do wonders for your overall health and body. Thank you, Dr. Berg, you gave me the tools to better take care of myself.

    • Infiniti25 on May 1, 2023 at 5:52 pm

Did you do intermittent fasting at all?

  12. AussieAngie on May 1, 2023 at 12:03 pm

Thank you so much Dr Berg. My mother is 79 and had developed psoriasis about a year ago. She’s on medication such as blood thinners, so is it ok for her to take the Supplement?

Thanks Dr Berg… shared for those who need across platforms. ✅

I also developed severe psoriasis about 3 months back on my face since I stopped taking the medicines prescribed by my allopathic doctor, one colleague of mine took me to a homeopathic doctor and my symptoms were drastically relieved. Still, I have mild psoriasis, I am continuing my homeopathic medicines since these have no side effects. I how also cut down on my sugar and oil intake.

    • Realme on May 1, 2023 at 7:32 pm

Plz tell me homoeopathic medicine 🙏🙏

  15. Mastrshok on May 1, 2023 at 1:42 pm

What has really helped me is lion’s mane and turkey tail, probably the most. I had bad plaques on parts of my body. Over a month ago, I started taking lion’s mane and turkey tail, along with the Chinese ointment that Dr. berg recommended in an old video. In less than a month, it has significantly accelerated the plaques and nearly healed them currently. I’ve switched to taking “mushroom max.” My quality of life has improved quite a bit. I will try NAG.

Edit: I don’t eat as much bread anymore, but I still do, which, of course, can play a part in my results. I still eat pasta but Rao’s pasta that uses durum semolina

    • Linda Pelle on May 1, 2023 at 3:11 pm

What is this Chinese ointment called? Thanks

  16. Anjali Sesen on May 1, 2023 at 2:45 pm

Hi Dr- great video as always. What would you recommend for people on a biologic for psoriasis/psoriatic arthritis and want to get off of it altogether? Same protocol as in the video or something else? Thank you Dr. Berg!!

    • Mirta Kalvesmaki on May 1, 2023 at 3:45 pm

Same here. I’m on cosentyx for two years and would like to get off of it. Talking to your doctor doesn’t help. He always says there is no cure and the meds are the only way to control it.

    • Steve34 on May 1, 2023 at 6:15 pm

      Boron, Vitamin D3, Magnesium Glycinate,

Very interesting! I always research new remedies and supplements to help different ailments. Never had psoriasis myself so cannot speak from personal experience but there is research that the green hulls of black walnuts help with it. My friend had psoriasis of the scalp and i told her to use black walnut on the scalp topically and she said it went away. Maybe coincidence but if someone suffers from it maybe can give it a try as well, it’s inexpensive

When I lived by the sea I never had psoriasis and when I moved suddenly I had spots around my ankles. I made a solution of sea salt and water and applied to affected areas and let the sun do the rest. Granted, I may have had something else going on but it has be 2 decades and no reoccurrence. Just putting it out there…

  19. MisterWilly on May 1, 2023 at 4:53 pm

Thank you for your recommendation about black currant seed oil, I have been using it for a bit more than a week now and I’m seeing some interesting results with my eczema.

  20. Stephanie T. on May 1, 2023 at 5:11 pm

Started IF 7/22, haven’t had any dry, itchy, scaly rashes since😊. Also the autoimmune issues has been greatly reduced. Thanks to Dr. Berg’s information. Follow him!!!
