Today we’re going to talk about an extremely powerful natural remedy for inflammation: colostrum.

Colostrum may be beneficial when dealing with certain conditions, such as:
• Inflammation
• Autoimmune diseases
• Gut inflammatory conditions
• Arthritis
• Skin issues related to inflammation

Health benefits of colostrum:
• It helps with gut permeability
• It helps support the immune system
• It may help improve gut damage
• It has been shown to improve muscle growth
• It may help repair the thymus gland
• It has been shown to increase T cells and natural killer cells, which may help prevent cancer and attack viruses
• It increases macrophages, which provide a barrier to protect against pathogens
• It’s high in fat, protein, and immunoglobulins
• It’s very anti-inflammatory
• It helps develop duodenal villi to help prevent malabsorption
• It’s rich in friendly bacteria

Colostrum is the first milk that a mother gives an infant when they’re breastfed. Certain studies have shown a dramatic difference in long-term health between infants given breast milk and those given infant formula.

Colostrum contains many different beneficial nutrients and provides the only natural source of two things:
1. Transforming growth factor alpha-beta
This can greatly help regulate the immune system and support tissue repair.

2. Insulin-like growth factors 1 and 2
This has been found to reverse age-related atrophy of the thymus gland.

Breastfeeding is incredibly important. But, if you’re older, you can still get the benefits of colostrum by taking it as a supplement.

Supplements from goats may be a better choice than from cows, if possible. It’s important to first take colostrum in very small amounts and gradually increase the dose until you reach the dose listed on the bottle.

Interested in knowing his views, if any, on earthing in regard to inflammation and general health.

    • Artbug on February 21, 2023 at 12:06 pm

      What’s earthing?

    • Bunyip on February 21, 2023 at 12:24 pm

@Artbug Also called grounding. Walking barefoot on the grass for example to earth out electricity in the body. It’s supposed to help with inflammation.

Breast-feeding only lasts for a short time. So if we take a supplement, how long should we take it?

Dr Berg – can you please do a new video on IBS. Especially for those of us who can’t handle red meat, fat, or fiber (very hard re healthy keto).

    • Guido De Palma on February 21, 2023 at 3:16 pm

and even with such a diet there are people still struggling with IBS

    • oRiGiNaL SWeDiES on February 21, 2023 at 3:47 pm

I used to have IBS, it’s part of Fibromyalgia. But my IBS and 70% of Fibromyalgia symptoms disappeared when I went gluten free, sugar free and soy free. Maybe that could work for you, too?! Try it and you’ll see after one week, you may notice things begin to change. Good luck!

    • tdginter on February 21, 2023 at 4:11 pm

Definitely permanently eliminate bad gluten (wheat, barley, and rye). After some time, you’ll likely no longer deal with IBS, especially if you consume healthy foods, with a colorful variety of produce.

    • W M on February 21, 2023 at 5:11 pm

@Betty Austen That’s if you take high amounts of it. Bring it up to your doctor. She might say it is safe to try. Maybe start with a quarter teaspoon with a few dashes of black pepper once a day.

Be careful drinking this with medication though. The black pepper helps the body absorb the turmeric better, so it might affect your other drugs also. Good luck.

You may need the GAPS protocol, read up on the meat stock. NOT bone broth. Meat stock. Get the book it has the protocol.

I raised registered nigerian dwarf goats and have only tasted the milk once. There’s so my controversy with drinking raw milk that I think I allowed it to freak me out. I have serious issues with cows milk though and likely ibs. I will be trying this when my next goat delivers sometime this weekend. I’m so tired of being in pain. I was nursed for a little while and didn’t really start having issues until I was older and diagnosed with hashimotos. However my levels stay in range unmedicated. I just seem to have a lot of stomach pain and muscle/joint pain.

  12. Ashwini G on February 21, 2023 at 1:57 pm

Thanks Dr. Berg.. Not many of us had the colostrum protection as babies.. Had also heard of people on goat milk.. But the reason n logic was kept highly confidential.. Thanks for making our lives better.. Was badly hit by auto immune disease, was better on IF n keto… This addition helped rebuild of great health 🙏🏻

    • N Sudatta-Roy on February 21, 2023 at 3:18 pm

There’s a solution! Undenatured whey protein w/o casein, fat, or lactose. It does everything doc described and more. It’s in the PDR.

  13. 22omegad on February 21, 2023 at 2:43 pm

This explains my many symptoms I’ve been having and I believe my mom never breastfeed my twin sister and I. She said she needed help raising us on her own, single mom w 2 older siblings.

Q: if I can’t find colostrum, goat supplements, can ‘goat milk powder’ be an alternative?

  14. Motivator for Kids on February 21, 2023 at 2:54 pm

Thanks Doc you truly rock. Your voice itself cures half of my problems and I give such A+ score to people like yourself.

Dr Berg I would love to hear your thoughts on all these food allergy blood tests and cutting 10-15 foods out of your diet for the rest of your life to cut inflammation….

I think there are other ways to cut inflammation (fasting) but a natural clinic I’m working with for low cortisol wants me cutting all of these “food allergies.”

I had pain 24 hours a day, every day in my lower right quadrant, and one day I decided to drink a large glass of bentonite, turmeric and psyllium. One hour it left never to return. Told my doctor, he didn not believe me. I had this for months. Love Dr. Berg, he’s the very best of the best.

    • S E on February 21, 2023 at 3:22 pm

      What is psyllium?

    • Birdlover on February 21, 2023 at 5:59 pm

@S E metamucil in all grocery stores.

    • RIMS on February 21, 2023 at 6:02 pm

@S E Psyllium is a bulk forming laxative.Psyllium (usually as husk or powder) is a fiber derived from the plant Plantago

    • TRUST on February 21, 2023 at 6:48 pm

What made you choose those ingredients?

    • Birdlover on February 21, 2023 at 7:20 pm

I don’t really know, all I know is that for months I have been in pain, talked with my doctor, his medicine did not work, so I had bought years ago bentonite, but it was not touched. I thought, why not give this a try. It has to be the bentonite, or a synergistic effect, because I have psyllium and turmeric every day. Bentonite, due to its poly-cationic nature, which leads to absorption of negative charged toxins, but it may have saved my life.

I was bottle fed in the 60’s, so this was very interesting. FYI, farmers always have a supply of dried colostrum on hand for emergencies because they know how important colostrum is for the newborn calves or kids. Our local farm supply store sells it. Hint, hint. Wink, wink.

I breast fed both my boys. They hardly get sick. No matter how severe the cold is, they just take care of it with a vaporizer and by drinking fluid. They have hardly taken a single sick day from school and work. I have never called in sick from work for nearly 40 years.

THANKS Doc.. I tried so many things. Had a Colitis flare up in December and still I’m fighting it. The lower 6 inches sigmoid colon is burning and so inflamed since December. I even tried antibiotics. Now I have issues again. No social gatherings in the last almost 3 month. It is extremely painful. Stage 3 colorectal cancer survivor. I had it all done. 2 surgeries- Ileostomy- reversed later. Chemo – Radiation. I ask my doctor to please stop the chemo or I wont make it. They stopped it 1 week earlier. I have had issues for many years. Now I’m allergic to all Citrus fruits, Tomatoes, some seasoning wheat and Gluten – my digestion is slow. I’m not able to take some supplements do to my sensitive stomach. 😮 It’s been a fight for years for me. These past 3 month have been home most of the time. No social life at the moment and some people don’t even understand.
