i once got the idea of making my own chewing gum, it failed lol, but i still had one of the main ingredients: mastic gum. which turns out, if you chew on it, it gets rid of heartburn! now whenever i get heartburn i chew on a little mastic gum, and the heartburn is gone almost immediately

    • @Sheryl777 on February 28, 2024 at 5:00 pm

When I started the keto diet (cutting way down on carbs was the key), and now mostly carnivore, my heartburn, which had been pretty bad at times, just basically disappeared, and I may only have 1 or 2 small episodes per year, if that even.

    • @Ottee2 on February 28, 2024 at 5:50 pm

Never heard of this remedy. What is mastic gum, by the way? Thanks 🙂

    That rotten old sugar🤬

My heartburn cured 7 years ago after I lost 60 lbs by intermittent fasting and keto, also by using more vinegar and salt daily. Thanks again for sharing your insights and expertise, Dr Berg, take care bye 😊

Absolutely true. It was my problem and your advice fixed it. Thank you, Dr Berg 🙏🏻

I’m doing these things, as well. And they do provide relief, BUT not permanent relief. His comment about B1 was interesting.

    • @a.williams45 on February 28, 2024 at 6:02 pm

@@Ottee2 it may take some time to get permanent relief. A healthy gut is vital. Vit B1 is wonderful and Dr Berg has videos for gut issues and vit B1 as well. Take good care.

@@Ottee2try fermenting milk kefir at home and drinking that. Can correct your gut microbiome over the course of a few weeks to a few months with the beneficial bacteria, moulds and yeasts as well as slightly acidifying your stomach acid. It is only a PH of 4.6 so not as good as apple cider vinegar.
It is a good source of probiotics.
Be aware that some people report worsening of symptoms, but most benefit from milk kefir.
I doubt store bought is anywhere near as beneficial as home fermented.
If you supposedly can’t tolerate dairy then you might also get a smaller benefit from water kefir.
The first few weeks of having milk kefir can make some people feel bloated and have additional flatulence, but this should subside after a maximum of 3 weeks.

I took a shot of ACV and had terrible heartburn.

    • @nthdgree5078 on February 28, 2024 at 6:41 pm

You aren’t supposed to take a shot of it, it’s too potent. Drink 1 tablespoon in 8 ounces of water and drink it fast, preferably through a straw, so it doesn’t damage your teeth enamel. I’ve been doing this for years and it absolutely works. I have not taken an antacid in years.

    • @Infiniti25 on February 28, 2024 at 7:05 pm

You need to dilute it in water so it makes it to the stomach without damaging the oesophagus.

  8. @AllenM.Ponsen on February 28, 2024 at 5:40 pm

Drink baking soda or regular soda

  9. @robyroby1902 on February 28, 2024 at 5:48 pm

How can acv, that is acid, cure the heart burning that it’s due to excessive acid in the stomach? Certain nights I can’t sleep because it burns and I have a sort of reflux especially if I try to sleep on my right side

    • @verborgenewahrheit1594 on February 28, 2024 at 5:58 pm

Because heartburn is actually caused by a lack of stomach acid

    • @nthdgree5078 on February 28, 2024 at 6:46 pm

The stomach is overcompensating for a lack of stomach acid. By introducing something acidic, it actually makes your stomach back off on acid production.

Instead of taking an antacid, drink 1 tablespoon of the vinegar in 8 ounces of water, quickly if you can, and through a straw, so the acid doesn’t damage your tooth enamel. I’ve been doing this for like 10 years, and I will never take in an antacid again.

Also sleep on your left side instead of your right. The deep side of your stomach is on the left, so gravity will keep the contents inside. The right side of the stomach is more shallow, so if you sleep on your right, you run the risk of the acid running into your esophagus.

    • @lilachiricli6756 on February 28, 2024 at 6:48 pm

Sleep on your left side, makes a ‘bucket’ out of your stomach to keep contents in.

    • @Infiniti25 on February 28, 2024 at 7:08 pm

From Dr Berg’s other videos the idea is that acidifying your stomach further lowering the PH/topping your stomach acid level up allows the valve at the top of the stomach to close preventing the leaking of stomach acid which travels up the oesophagus causing heartburn.

    • @Storm_Lily on February 28, 2024 at 7:15 pm

He mentions sugar, but it’s really everything that converts to sugar (glucose) before entering the bloodstream that is the problem. This includes grains. That’s why you see other comments mentioning going keto was their fix. Then you also have to give it enough time. ✌🌸
