Magnesium comes in many different forms. Today, I want to cover magnesium threonate or magnesium L-threonate.
This is a specific type of magnesium. Threonate transports magnesium across the blood-brain barrier to the hippocampus.
The hippocampus is involved in memory, learning, focus, and concentration. People typically take magnesium L-threonate when they want to support the brain.
A magnesium deficiency can lead to various issues related to the brain and throughout the body.
Benefits of magnesium L-threonate:
• It may help reduce worry and anxiety (especially when trying to sleep)
• It may help decrease neuroinflammation and neurodegeneration
• It’s a calcium regulator and antagonist
• It helps maintain and support the blood-brain barrier
• It can act as an antioxidant
• It helps support BDNF
• It may help with androgenic alopecia
If you want to use magnesium to support the brain, I would use magnesium threonate. To support other issues like cramping or fatigue or to support the heart, I would take magnesium glycinate. Magnesium citrate can be helpful as well, especially to help prevent kidney stones.

Thanks for watching! I hope this helps increase your awareness of the benefits of magnesium L-threonate. I’ll see you in the next video.
I truly believe that most psychiatric patients would recover with vitamin and minerals, 3 meals per day and a rest.
It is true cuz nobody is born with psychiatric disorder.
Deficiency in nutrients creates the disease
Totally agree
I used to manage mental hospitals and I respectfully disagree.
I would argue intermittent fasting along with that would greatly benefit people.
Then Britney Spears would have recovered.
That’s all the symptoms I have😢😢.Thank you Dr.Eric.
Dr Berg you have become my number one man to provide me with everything from healthy keto, sleep, mental health and anything else I need to make my body be its best 👌 I’m 51 female 5’2 45kg .. my skin and hair I’ve seen a improvement also I’m no longer blotted. I don’t get hungry and i don’t miss any of the bad foods i ones ate. I do have to up my carbs a little.. what would be the best food to do that 🤔
Dark leafy greens
@@fluffypink6unny oh thanks 😊 👍
Thanks for another short informative video.
Following another of your videos on Magnesium Glycinate I decided to try taking it as a supplement, with unexpected results.
For over 50 years I have suffered from a recurring nightmare, at least one or two times a week. It was brought on by an extremely stressful episode in my early twenties. I always assumed it was a form of ‘post traumatic stress disorder’ and I would just have to live with it disturbing my sleep.
Within days of starting to take Magnesium Glycinate the nightmares stopped and have not returned!
A very unexpected outcome, but very welcome.
Peace at last.
Interesting 🧐 so no intake of b1 as part of the changes?
@johnnixon7749 that is awesome! I believe from what I’ve learned you might also benefit from a whole food vitamin B complex, very calming for the nervous system as is the magnesium glycinate 😊
@@HelenegardenerI was already taking some B1 as part of a multi vitamin supplement.
Do I need to take more suppelemnts. What magnesium is this is it the same magnesium as in nuts and seeds. thanks!
Dr berg is the real treatment for body , mind , and also success ❤ I swear this man has changed my life
Awesome 👏 Thanks for sharing!
Excercise and the core fundamentals also‼️ Dr. Bergs videos gives me peace of mind as Ive had the same questions, now I feel alot more efficient‼️ H.e as they say, ahahaha, ( energy efficient labels you see on washing machines)
Yeah he’s one of the experts I follow who’s completely helped change my life. I’ve lost 12kg (26lbs) in 100 days following keto and lifestyle advice from him. It’s in my channel, and I strongly encourage everyone else to do the same. 5 simple things, just requires willpower. Sleep well, lower stress, eat keto, go to the gym, walk more.
I wish you would have magnesium threonate because the ones on the market have maltodextrin in them.

Is this magnesium found in foods too. Thanks already
Mg Citrate is not the same as Mg Glycinate
@@jeanpaultongeren125 Green leafy vegetables, kale, arugula, mustardgreens? , Spinach(higher oxaltes ⚠️, can counter with small amount of raw organic cheese) , etc.
@@chinookvalley correction applied,
This video should be all over the place. I’ve been taking Magnesium L-Threonate for nearly a decade now. It’s unbelievable how good it is.
What brand do you use
@@FollowScripture life extension – but bare in mind that you have to eliminate sugar and coffee as these two deplete magnesium out of your body faster than anything can replenish it
Where do you buy it a d what brand are you using please? I get seriously awful cramps like everywhere and everyone e says eat more bananas a d drink more water. My massage therapist said take magnesium but shop around so here I am. She sent me this link.
@@sfrom1542 Just do a quick google search about Magnesium L-Threonate and read reviews / compare prices. Whatever you do you must wipe out sugar, alcohol, coffee and excessive carbohydrates (rice etc) as these sources severely deplete your magnesium reserves!

I’ve started taking a bunch of supplements a couple of months ago to improve my general health and my eczema. Magnesium is the one that had the most tangible effect on my body.
Less lower back pain, better sleep, less stress. I also recommended to a colleague and their chronic back problems are essentially gone as well! It’s remarkable really.
Great 👍 Dr Berg’s videos /articles on lower back pain may help further.
What kind of magnesium are you taking?
@@daniabaezavithar60 Bisglycinate, a modified form of Glycinate which is even more absorbable from what I understand but they’re both essentially the same thing.
Glycinate is the most easily digestible you can take it on an empty stomach. Within an hour it calms and relaxes so it helps sleep better if taken before bed.
This doctor needs to be cloned and put into every medical school to re-educate doctors with correct information about health.
He is brilliant, and a gem of a person to anyone with common sense about how to improve their health in a sustained way.
I just love learning from his simple to understand videos … I respect this man immensely. 👍👍👍
He already cloned himself, in a sense, with these videos 🙂they just need to be shown in schools
There are numerous Drs. out there just as good as Dr. Berg… Mandell is excellent too! Diverse health Services, Dr. Darren Schmidt, Dr. Stephen Stokes… way too many to list! Dr. Berg is truly a Godsend 😊❤
@OleFalla …
Unfortunately, nearly ALL “Medical School programs” (whether State-run or private) are “controlled by” BIG PHARMA as “they” provide the “curriculums” that are taught from in their courses.
ONE “glaringly suspicious aspect” of the INDOCTRINATION of those “Medical students” is the FACT that almost NONE of them are given any “nutritional information.”
In the distant past, the students were previously provided at least a WEEK’S WORTH of nutritional countenance (dietary relevance to REAL HEALTH), but, now, most ONLY receive ONE DAY of nutritional instruction.
The “allopathic medical” students are absolutely TRAINED (indoctrinated) to be legal “synthetic pharmaceutical drug pushers.”
Allopathic literally means “synthetic.” John D. Rockefeller was the “progenitor” of the “synthetic petroleum-based pharmaceutical industry” and, J.D. Rockefeller very cunningly devised the now widely accepted “Western medical (allopathic) system” which is mostly fraudulent and NOT based on actually keeping you “healthy.”
Since 2015, over 150 U.S. “Holistic/Homeopathic” Physicians have been murdered or died under VERY suspicious circumstances. Needless to say, there is an INTENSE AGENDA to silence those who know the TRUE FACTS about the path to “GENUINE Health.”🤨
And most doctors need to care like Dr Berg too! From my experience about 40% or less actually care.
I concur WHOLEHEARTEDLY ! His information and advice have been, and are life changing for me!
I began taking Magnesium L-Threonate almost 6 months ago to help me sleep, and it works. I assumed my brain fog had disappeared due to better sleeping, but now I suspect my lucidity, clearer focus and sharper memory recall are due to magnesium L-Threonate.
Great 👍 Dr Berg’s videos /articles on brain 🧠 fog, on sleep quality, on focus, on memory, ect, may help understand how to improve these even further.
Would you recommend a good brand? Also do you take vit d & k2 with it?
@@pamelaackert9515 I prefer’Dr. Mercola’ brand. Most products are organic and have great reviews. And yes, I do take Vit D3 and K2/MK7 together.
Thank you so much for explaining Magnesium, very informative, really useful. I am grateful your advice dr Berg. ❤
You’re most welcome!
I switched immediately to this type magnesium after listening to another of your videos last month. I didn’t realize the type I take at night in my tea has magnesium carbonate (in Calm). Thank you Dr. Berg, 🥰👌🏾🙏🏾❤️
Calm… Magnesium carbonate and citric acid mixed with water create ionic magnesium citrate.
Dr. Berg, if you were a movie director, you would win an Academy Award. Your content and delivery are impeccable. I am a poster child for most of the symptoms outlined in your video. Thank you is not enough.
I appreciate your help in explaining different kinds of supplements in detail. Wish you the best.
I cured 35 years of Migrene when I started to eat magnesium-rich food. It took a week, never came back, been well in 25 years. ❤
Loving the new format! And background! ❤ team dr berg! Keep teaching us fans to a healthy better life 😊
This is wild! I just started taking Magtein Magnesium L-Threonate with D3 & K2 and I feel within the hour my stress level drop and brain fog disappear. I’m A.D.D. and the meds they prescribe puts me on the edge and gives me anxiety. This seems to bring me back to a good balance. Such a great video Dr Berg & right on time!
Thank you for this. I am classic ADD with no hyperactivity and all the meds make me even sleepier and lethargic, if that is even possible. I will try the combination
This is what I take – after trying many forms for headaches – it was a little harder to find information on the types of magnesium 20 years ago. Thanks Dr. Berg – people like you make it easier for those searching for help with their health.
What are your thoughts on taking different forms of Mg at once? For example, in once night taking one pill of glycerinate and another for threonate. Thanks
Good to know there are so many different types of magnesium to choose from.
I usually get one with several different types in one pill…. I guess I should look into tailoring it more precisely to what I need.
Which one is best for leg cramps and bones?
I will definitely add L-Threonate to my list, even if I don’t have any brain issues, it’s good to have as a preventative.
