Keto Turkey Taco Bowls [Perfect for Work Lunch]

These keto turkey taco bowls are a 20-minute meal-prep solution for busy lives. Combine flavorsome turkey mince with lightly toasted cauliflower rice, top with avocado and cilantro, and voilà: a hearty and nutritious lunch meal just like that! Get your delicious midday health hit in with minimal preparation and none of the hassle.

The beauty of this recipe is how fast and easy it is. Two main ingredients, one pan, and a boatload of tasty spices and herbs go into this 20-minute delight. The recipe makes for three portions but can easily be doubled for a week full of tasty turkey taco bowls.

Though they’re sure to become a staple in your weekly meal plan, the same ‘ol thing every day is bound to get old pretty quick. Thankfully, it’s absolutely zero effort to change this recipe up: swap out your protein with beef, chicken, or pork—or why not treat yourself to a salmon filet? If you’re over the cauliflower rice, try substituting for zucchini noodles or roasted broccoli. Experiment with your herbs and spices to get new, delicious flavors.

Whether you go with our recipe or your own variation, don’t forget the cherry on top (or in this case, the avocado). Avocado offers a cool, creamy sweetness to an otherwise spicy and savory dish. It’s also incredibly good for you, containing an excellent array of vitamins, nutrients, minerals, and healthy fats. Top it all off with a few cilantro leaves, and your week is sorted!

    Taco bowls are still a mainstay for me after all these years. I use a larger serving of meat (beef instead of turkey) and I nstead of the cauliflower rice, I prefer to use those carbs for chopped romaine and tomato, and a dollop of sour cream. Maybe even a drizzle of taco sauce! And I usually skip the avocado simply because it looks so unappetizing by lunch time. If I’m eating this for dinner, I’ll definitely add some on or even have it sliced into a bowl with a little dressing on, like a side salad.

    It’s been a long time – I think it’s high time I tried this version again. But I’ll use beef – better nutrition.

      I prefer beef too, but I always get the question about using turkey instead 😅

      @RuledMe
      Yeah, beef got a bad rap and people have the mistaken notion that turkey is somehow healthier. 🤷🏼‍♀️ I have *mostly* learned to grit my teeth and hold my tongue when somebody starts to spout the “heart healthy” routine. If you like the taste of turkey and prefer it, okay then – go for it. Just wipe the smug look off your face as if you’re somehow winning a competition. 🤣🤣🤣 (You know I don’t mean YOU – I mean the folks who blindly repeat that stuff.

    I’d consider adding pickled red onion and/or diced tomatoes as toppings, especially if I didn’t have decent avocados available

    • RuledMe on January 30, 2023 at 8:48 pm

      Sounds like a great idea, too! Could drizzle some olive oil over them too just to account for that missing fat 😋

    • malcontent on January 30, 2023 at 8:54 pm

      @RuledMe indeed, but inasmuch as the restriction of carbs is more important than the addition of fat (per “Dr. Gabrielle Lyon” + “Diet Doctor”), the relatively high protein content & associated satiety should still represent a high quality _keto_ meal

    Great recipe and quick. The music is terrible so I had to mute, but that’s ok.❤

    Excellent video. Can this be frozen and reheated? I imagine that I wouldn’t add the avocado until after it was reheated.

    • RuledMe on January 31, 2023 at 5:29 am

      I haven’t tried freezing and re-heating this specifically, but have done with other meals similar. Yes, I’d definitely keep the avocado separated! It would do well with just regular re-heating from refrigerated though 😊
