Keto French Fries [A Must Try!]

Going keto doesn’t mean giving up your favorite snacks like French fries! But fries contain potatoes, you say. Well, here’s the good news: these keto French fries are made using almond flour and mimic the flavor and texture of traditional carb-heavy fries.

They do take some time to prepare, but you’ll thank yourself you made the effort when you’re sitting back with a piping hot bowl and your favorite dipping sauce. Making these keto fries starts by preparing the almond flour-based dough and then kneading and rolling it out before cutting it into long thin fries. All you need to do then is pop them into a hot pan of oil (or you can air fry or bake them), and the fries will be ready to devour within minutes.

The whole family will love these fries. They make the perfect accompaniment to burger night or can be whipped up as a standalone snack. You can even make a big batch and freeze any that you don’t cook—they cook and taste just as good when defrosted. Go ahead and give these keto French fries a try. We’re sure you’ll love them!

    Looks good but is there another keto friendly flour that could be used?

    • Lynnon Rogers on January 26, 2023 at 5:30 pm

      @ParvulaUniversum 😅

    • Kimberly Early on January 26, 2023 at 8:06 pm

      @Cyndi Manka You would have to eat a lot of almonds to worry about oxalates. Most people probably don’t eat it everyday. There’s nothing wrong with having it every now and then.

    • Cyndi Manka on January 26, 2023 at 9:09 pm

      @Kimberly Early not if you’re eating greens and chocolate and other things in your diet that are high in oxalates. They pile up they build up in your body cannot dump them.

    • Cyndi Manka on January 26, 2023 at 9:10 pm

      @Kimberly Early plus almonds are the highest on the list in

    • RuledMe on January 26, 2023 at 11:42 pm

      As all the others have said, oxalates are not an issue for the vast majority of people. You only need to worry about them if you are prone to kidney stones or have kidney issues already. If you have kidney issues already, you should be cautious about a ketogenic diet anyway. Please stop spreading misinformation about oxalates.

    Yum! I can see so many possibilities. Adding herbs, even crumbled cheese and crushed garlic like the ones sold on food trucks, or even a luscious dip. Thank you. I get so tired of pork rinds as my crunch element.

    • RuledMe on January 26, 2023 at 11:40 pm

      Garlic and herb sounds great!

    • Lucinda Jackson on January 27, 2023 at 5:37 am

      Nutritional yeast adds a cheesy flavor. Or you can buy cheddar cheese powder – you just have to read labels carefully. Some have bad stuff like maltodextrin, but the King Arthur (yep, like the flour) is good ingredients and there are others. Read for the carbs, too – King Arthur is the best I’ve found at 3 grams for 2 Tablespoons. Many are that high for 1 Tablespoon or even higher. And you wouldn’t need that much, IMO.

      I like to make Nacho Fries with cheese sauce (made from grated cheese), etc.

    Oh my, these looks delish. 👍😋🍟
    TFS RM, & take care too everybody. ❤️🙂🐶

    It would seem that these keto fries would taste like fried bread sticks since they’re made of almond flour.

    • Orange Moon on January 27, 2023 at 3:12 am

      Some ppl use the mashed potato liquid concentrate…

    • RuledMe on January 27, 2023 at 4:01 am

      @Orange Moon I tried with and without and didn’t think the mashed potato flavoring really added a good flavor. It made it slightly sweeter tasting but I didn’t really get a potato flavor from it, so I just omitted it. Plus it saves a good chunk of money since it’s pretty expensive to buy.

    • Lucinda Jackson on January 27, 2023 at 5:22 am

      @Orange Moon
      Yes, KetoFocus added the potato flavoring to the mix. I’m on the fence whether it adds to it or not. I’ve been out for awhile and haven’t really missed it and haven’t bothered to buy more. By the time you add a dip of ketchup (sugar free, of course) you don’t notice any difference at all.

    • Lucinda Jackson on January 27, 2023 at 5:23 am

      It’s the texture. And if you dip into ketchup, it’s 👍🏻.

    • blindfollower on January 28, 2023 at 10:21 am

      I made those and felt they tasted more like bread sticks, so I ended up having it with cream cheese.

    What is the xanthum gum for pls?

    • notayacht on January 26, 2023 at 7:26 pm

      The xantham gum is what helps bind the dough together like a glue. Really crucial in a lot of recipes that don’t have gluten or other binding material!

    I dunno RuledMe, thumbs up anyway just because you’re RuledMe.👍👍👍👍👍

    • Lucinda Jackson on January 27, 2023 at 5:39 am

      They’re good!

    • GiL69 on January 27, 2023 at 1:33 pm

      @Lucinda Jackson 😅🤣😂👍

    • Lucinda Jackson on January 27, 2023 at 2:47 pm

      @GiL69
      Know what’s even funnier than my telling you they’re good? A grown adult saying “Oh, ick, pooey!” to a food they haven’t even tried, like a toddler. 🤷🏼‍♀️

    • GiL69 on January 27, 2023 at 3:38 pm

      @Lucinda Jackson Awesome, who said this???…😆😅🤣😂 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0zXnarPaGEo

    I use those red small radishes for my potato substitute, especially in my pot roasts, etc. I wonder if a recipe could be made using them shaped into fries. Hash browns would be easy, but french fries? I’m going to look into it. I just bought a bag of halloumi cheese fries from Aldi. I’ve eaten them before, just a tad salty.

    • RuledMe on January 26, 2023 at 11:38 pm

      I’ve dehydrated radish before and it really didn’t turn out that well. Oven roasting radish is better, but they don’t get a crispy outer layer that I’m after.

    • lee 민 on January 27, 2023 at 12:57 am

      @RuledMe If you fry your radishes in the skillet _after_ roasting them in the oven, they will! More or less, of course, depends on one’s preference. 😄 I would recommend to use less salt though — after frying they become saltier (I guess, because of the butter).

  8. Scott Powers on January 26, 2023 at 7:13 pm

    Why almond flour? Videos showing keto recipes almost always use almond flour instead of coconut flour. Why? Coconut flour is much cheaper.

    • RuledMe on January 26, 2023 at 11:36 pm

      Exactly what VeeTeeF said – coconut flour tends to give a different taste and texture that only almond flour can give.

    • Scott Powers on January 27, 2023 at 1:08 am

      @RuledMe I personally like coconut flour and coconut milk

    • RuledMe on January 27, 2023 at 1:50 am

      @Scott Powers I personally do, too. I just don’t love coconut flour in most savory applications. Though some it works well (like I did a coconut shrimp recipe using it).

    • Lucinda Jackson on January 27, 2023 at 5:44 am

      @Scott Powers
      I like both, but I think these (and lots of savory things) taste weird with coconut flour. Almond flour has a toasty “brown” flavor that lends itself to this recipe.

    • Heather Noak on January 27, 2023 at 10:19 pm

      I agree the coconut flour tastes great with most dessert dishes and cookies, but the more savory applications require the almond.

  9. R Redict on January 27, 2023 at 1:16 am

    Can you use Lupin flour instead of Almond for this recipe?

    • RuledMe on January 27, 2023 at 1:50 am

      I don’t have much experience with lupin flour so I can’t say for sure. If you do try it out, let me know how it works!

  10. SimplyMe on January 27, 2023 at 2:00 am

    This is too simple. There’s no way I’m not trying it as a great base. Maybe a flurry of seasonings and parmesan flakes for the crunchy seasoned fries I miss so much. With a cheeseburger bowl 🤗

  11. Terry Jackson on January 27, 2023 at 11:43 am

    How can these possibly taste like a potato substitute?

    • Heather Noak on January 27, 2023 at 10:23 pm

      Try it and see! 🙃

  12. G on January 27, 2023 at 12:23 pm

    These look good to me. Avocado oil is healthy. Will try to make these soon. Thank you for posting this ivdeo. Your videos are so well done, and don’t take long to watch. I skip over videos where they talk too much or act goofy because they’re on camera. I like your recipes the best.

  13. Ora Pro Exitus on January 28, 2023 at 2:33 am

    It does look delicious!… But yet again it’s almond flour and I already know what it tastes like without trying… And again do feel offended if you feel like it. Sorry.

  14. Amatullah78 on January 28, 2023 at 8:47 am

    This reminds me of a recipe we have in my country called chicken foot or sal sev. It’s Indian in origin but popular in Indo-Caribbean culture and is usually made with chickpea/split pea flour and curry powder. I’ve seen an Indian keto version of sev made with almond flour and zantum gum too.

  15. Christopher Smith on January 29, 2023 at 2:34 am

    Is there an alternative to almond flour – I’m allergic 😛

    • RuledMe on January 30, 2023 at 1:06 am

      Sunflower seed flour is the only alternative for allergies that you can use at a 1:1 ratio

  16. Leily Farah on January 29, 2023 at 12:32 pm

    Try using white turnips or jícama.
