Today we’re going to talk about the best things to prevent premature graying of your hair. It’s natural for your hair to turn gray with age. However, many people are getting gray hair way too early.

Even though you may have genes that give you the propensity to get gray hair, there are still things you can do to help prevent your hair from graying prematurely.

The pigment in your hair and the enzymes that allow the pigment to occur are both dependent on copper. You could be deficient in copper from not consuming foods high in copper. High levels of stress can also cause a copper deficiency.

It’s important to do whatever you can to decrease stress and increase copper to prevent gray hair. It may be best to get the copper you need from foods rich in copper rather than a supplement.

As you age, you accumulate hydrogen peroxide in the hair shaft. Hydrogen peroxide can cause a bleaching effect on the hair. To slow this accumulation of hydrogen peroxide, you can try consuming foods rich in catalase.

Foods high in copper:
• Seafood (especially oysters)
• Mushrooms
• Organic, grass-fed beef liver
• Spirulina

Foods high in catalase:
• Organic, grass-fed beef liver
• Vegetables (especially cruciferous vegetables)
• Sprouts or microgreens

Things to avoid:
• Alcohol
• Smoking
• Junk foods
• Sugar
• Refined carbs
• Low-fat diets

I’ve had grey hairs since I was 15. I decided to embrace it during the lockdown.

    • WTH! on July 18, 2023 at 12:08 pm

      Really 15?

    • Blue Sky on July 18, 2023 at 12:17 pm

      Same

    • Mary Bradley on July 18, 2023 at 12:27 pm

Same.. I have photos of my mom and grand mom who went completely white in their 20s. And I had white strands in my teens. Although I do agree with stress will increase the gray hair.

    • CaptnYestrday on July 18, 2023 at 12:37 pm

If it’s a lot of gray and white when you’re very young…. It can look very distinct and attractive. When your mid-30s or ’40s, that’s par for the course and nothing special. But at least in the United States, it’s a positive differentiator when you’re young. If you own it.

As usual, it comes down to your confidence with it, as with most things. It turns an oddity into something easily capitalized

    • Subrata Nandy on July 18, 2023 at 12:38 pm

And …. I sense an influx of advices in the thread.

I started getting some grey hairs here and there, nothing too much, at the age of 38. Then I had chemo and when my hair started growing back, grey started faster. I began using Amla powder and it disappeared. I am now 41 and still not a single grey hair in sight. Mind you, I use it for health benefits, but this is a really nice addition 😁

    • Hero on July 18, 2023 at 10:16 am

What brand of this powder did you get?

    • MyJuliejolie on July 18, 2023 at 10:20 am

How do you use it? Thank you

    • Nadia on July 18, 2023 at 10:20 am

That awesome. Would you mind sharing how you used it?

    • Insan Zaat on July 18, 2023 at 10:23 am

Do you eat amla powder or use in your hair ?

    • mariaccmanderson on July 18, 2023 at 10:29 am

At 52 yrs old I’m just now starting to see grey hairs. I have a very labor-intensive job, it does help with stress much like working out I think.

  6. M.M. on July 18, 2023 at 10:42 am

Stress kills life. I eliminated all sorts of unhealthy foods and drinks, but I really struggle with removing stress.

    • Nate Brook on July 18, 2023 at 12:40 pm

      quit your job?

    • Username3544 on July 18, 2023 at 1:47 pm

Adaptogens, Lemon balm tea, magnesium, and getting plenty of sleep and exercise helps. You won’t eliminate stress completely but you can stave it off sometimes.

    • Solarex on July 18, 2023 at 2:00 pm

Quit caffeine and all other stimulants.

    • Dana Kot on July 18, 2023 at 2:44 pm

      aren’t we all.. lol
I think that we can’t avoid stress, it comes out normally from living life in the modern world. and it’s a hack of a world.. but we can try to avoid stressful environments by choice, toxic people, toxic life style etc.
I wish you all the best and the health in the world !

My natural hair Color has returned years ago, at about 70%. After starting to use your videos. Back in 2017.
Recently I experimented with taking more of your D3&K2, and I see that more of my hair went back to dark brown.

    • Mango on July 18, 2023 at 11:08 am

to me the k2 cause a grey hairs in a head and beard. so i stop to take d3 and also k2.

    • Spam Mouse on July 18, 2023 at 12:21 pm

@Mango Coloration is not causation, where there no other changes you made? Sudden age onset, stress, other diet or DHT changes?

    • Mango on July 18, 2023 at 12:55 pm

@Spam Mouse If the dht decreases in the body then does it cause gray hair? I’m man by the way

    • Spam Mouse on July 18, 2023 at 1:10 pm

@Mango “High levels of DHT can shrink your hair follicles and shorten the hair growth cycle, resulting in hair loss.”

  8. L Diamondz on July 18, 2023 at 11:02 am

Genetics plays a huge role in grey hair. I’ve had plenty of stress, and didn’t eat most of the foods you mentioned. I have about 20 grey hairs. My mother is only about 10% grey, my father, also. They both have great hair. Thyroid conditions can effect grey hairs and make your hair fall out, even if temporarily.

    • fad ety on July 18, 2023 at 11:18 am

I’m 43 and Zinc has really helped keep the colour in my hair. Been taking a regular zinc supplement for the past 23 years and I’ve only got a few grey hairs coming through

    • RWS on July 18, 2023 at 2:36 pm

do you mind telling exactly what zinc supplements you take and how much? cheers!

    • Steve Gwizzle on July 18, 2023 at 3:26 pm

Yes tell us what kind of zinc supplements ur taking

    • The Nomad on July 18, 2023 at 3:53 pm

Zinc also depletes copper as they both compete for absorption. Make sure you are getting enough copper as well.

I am 65 yrs young and learned to age gracefully and except my beautiful grey hair. We can’t stop the aging process but we can learn to enjoy life pleasures and be around young children who love playing games.

    • Bobby Beasely on July 18, 2023 at 12:05 pm

You’re 65 years old and don’t know that the correct word is “accept” NOT “except”.

    • Don’t Fit on July 18, 2023 at 1:48 pm

      @Don’t Fit😂😂😂

    • Dybbuk on July 18, 2023 at 3:00 pm

I came on here to make a similar comment, but this comment was a lot kinder than what I was going to comment. Honestly? I’m getting real tired of looking at magazines, videos on YouTube, recommending things to prevent something that is so natural. And I’m also despising how much Jlo gets credit for looking so young for her age. Not all women age the same and people need to stop congratulating women for aging a certain way. My mother did not look like Jlo at 50, and that’s more than ok. It’s human to age. Meanwhile, men can age and it’s whatever.

*Fo Ti* (Polygonum multiflorum) is an herb native to China.
Research shows that Fo-Ti has a positive impact on gray hair —both to better maintain your natural color and delay the onset of new grays.
In general, tonics containing Fo-Ti can potentially darken the hair.
