Thank God doctors like Dr. FUNG are coming out with the truth!

@Dinar AndFriends ketogenic diet can help in managing blood sugar but the insulin resistance gets worse with high fat diet.

Ketogenic diet mimics fasting but is not good long term. People should listen to Dr’s Neal Barnard, Michael Gregor, John McDougall and many whole food, plant based eating. This nonsense of industry sponsored science is misleading people.

      @Benchmark Pharmacy
      >> the insulin resistance gets worse with high fat diet.
      Exactly.

@Dinar AndFriends: A moderate amount of unsaturated fats will give you energy and will satiate you. Carbs and sugars deplete your energy, cause brain fog and make you sleepy and lifeless. Fat did not cause diabetes in the first place. Over-saturation of sugars and carbs (which turn into sugar in your body) caused insulin resistance which caused the Type 2 Diabetes. There are other factors involved but if you do the research and you will find out.

      @Paul Demirezen
Your imagination is very vivid. But you are the one who will suffer from following this junk-food diet, not me.

    THANK YOU Dr. Fung!
After reading your book, I was finally able to start losing weight (-15 lbs) and reduce my steadily rising average blood sugar from 5.6% to 5.2% in 4 months.

Thank you for your boldness and willingness to be true to the greater calling as a trusted physician and inherent scientist. We need more physicians like you.

I just happened upon his videos looking into intermittent fasting – this guy is seriously motivating me! 🙂
I just vowed I’m going to get rid of mine also.

    • Katherine George on July 15, 2021 at 9:03 pm

@Jose Rivero why not just eat better instead of paying for a supplement?

    • Maria ASh on August 4, 2021 at 12:58 am

@Shahrukh Khan I did it with zero sugar including no fruit. Low carb under 20 grams a day. No processed foods…just meat and non starch veggies. Eat one meal a day after 22 hr fast every day. . Two hour eating window between 6-8 pm.
Lots and lots of water and daily walks. So easy after first week. Age 62 …and prior never had energy. Now…feel like I’m in my 20 s again!

    • MS I on January 2, 2022 at 7:21 pm

@Piero Achique Patlarny Sugar Outcome Principle its a gimmick when they talk too much rather than straight to the point unlike Dr Jason…so its bullS.

  4. Ricky Tan on April 16, 2018 at 3:40 pm

I started 16 hrs fasting and stay sugar free for almost 8 mths now.

    • Ashley Slayer on June 25, 2019 at 5:38 pm

@Gab X probably not , if he goes back to whole carbs diabetes will come back.

    • MS I on January 2, 2022 at 6:58 pm

      Well done…keep it up..

    • MS I on January 2, 2022 at 7:00 pm

@Gab X probably on cheat day…and hell the next day full blast exercise and fasting again i guess. No pun intended here.

I have started intermittent fasting for 4months already and lost 40 pounds. My glucose use to be more than 10 now it’s always 7. How true that diabetes is reversible disease. Thanks Dr Fung.

  6. Mysterious lady on May 4, 2018 at 2:59 pm

Thank you Dr.Fung for all the advices. I hope more and more people wake up to Big Pharma’s reality and realise that a lot of diseases are curable.

  7. Ji Ji on May 6, 2018 at 9:50 pm

Dr Fung talks sense!! When I was first diagnosed my A1C was 88 ( UK measure ) – I immediately slam-dunked all carbs , gave up sugar , wheat products , FRUITS (!!) , started exercising – and in 3 months at my next test I was right back in the normal range (42). I totally ignored all the “‘ diabetes management” advice as advocated by health authority NICE in the UK (tho I will credit my doctor for not wanting to put me on meds straight away) . If you have T2D , then take control now and cut out the crap!!

Thank you for inspiring information. The positive outlook is counter to most medical information I get from the hospital. Much more detailed and explanatory. Thank you once again for sharing your knowledge and wisdom.

Fantastic news doctor Fung, I have been fasting for one week and have lost 7 pounds. Feeling much better generally and find that fasting is better than calorie restriction. Many thanks for your excellent videos and guidance !

Great job, Dr. Fung! I’m a graduate student in Health Informatics, and our team project is nutrition for older adults. Your video is so helpful!

  11. Giulio Carmassi on August 25, 2018 at 2:33 am

I’ve lost 45 pounds with intermittent fasting and a couple of 5 day fasts over the course of 4 months (after reading Fung’s book). My good friend lost 35 pounds in 2 months. Mostly just eating one healthy meal a day, and fasting everyday for 20-24 hours. As soon as we eat a meal with a bunch of sugar or bread, we both feel sensibly less energetic and alive.

  13. John Gundaker on October 22, 2018 at 2:14 am

Thank you doctor for standing up and speaking up and giving us hope. I feel deeply that diabetes is very dangerous and should not be considered as chronic because of that reason. I am very excited about doing extended fasting, I have not done a 3-day fast yet or a 6 day fast much less, but I have done many one day fasts and am very hopeful of significant health improvement. I salute you! Keep up the good work!

  16. Robert Lerman on August 18, 2019 at 12:34 pm

Thank you, Dr Fung. I have been a diabetic and have suffered with complictions for over 11 years now. The fun began when I was put on insulin plus meds. Have been hospitalized numerous times from valley fever, pneumonia, DVTs, pulimary embolism out of controll blood sugar 600 a1c 14.7 amputations and neuropathy. I finally checked into the Mayo Clinic, a highly rated diabetes clinic in Mar.2019. The Endocrinologist, told me that I was in the last stages of the disease and that I would have to keep using fast acting insulin along with slow and Victoza. I started to search for answers and tried all types of diets including the Mayo clinic recommends. Poor results. Until I started listening to your you tube videos. As of today I lost 50lbs, my last A1C Was 6.1 may be lower because I’m using a freestyle Libra device. No more meds stoped taking insulin with readins 103 average last 2 weeks. I’ve been sharing this info to friends and clinitions. Much gratitude,, you changed my life

  17. Claudia Govea on December 18, 2019 at 4:06 pm

I have followed his advice since October 27,2019 today is 12/18/2019 and have tested my sugar levels fasting, before and after meals they have been within the normal ranges. I have also lost 27 lbs . I refused to take Metformin and instead do low carb and intermittent fasting best thing I have ever done. I feel energized, no more sluggish tired feeling always wanting to nap. Best decision I have made for my health. Thank you Dr Fung

  18. Joe Blow on May 28, 2020 at 3:40 pm

I can attest to this. When I was first diagnosed my A1C was over 12. I researched, discovered keto and low carb, along with fasting. Combined with exercise, In 3 months my a1c was down to 6, 3 months after that, 5.4.
Then I got depressed, fell off the bandwagon and took up drinking. Now my last a1c was 8.5. You have to make the complete lifestyle change, for life. I’m back on it now that I’m getting my mental health a priority. Low-carb, fasting, and exercise (even if it’s 30 minutes of walking a day – though moderate cardio is even better).

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*
