5:30 How to maintain weight after Ozempic

Understanding the benefits and drawbacks of Ozempic is crucial when considering how to manage your weight after stopping this medication.

As a GLP-1 Agonist, Ozempic mimics a hormone in your small intestine that helps regulate insulin levels, control appetite, and slow down gastric emptying. While this can aid in weight loss, it can also lead to adverse side effects.
These side effects may include:
• Nutrient deficiency
• Gastroparesis
• Constipation
• Gallbladder problems
• Thyroid tumors and cancer

To help maintain your weight after Ozempic, it’s crucial to make certain lifestyle changes, such as:
1. Follow a ketogenic diet to keep insulin levels low and promote fat-burning.
2. Do intermittent fasting to control appetite and improve hormone balance.
3. Incorporate weight training to build and preserve muscle mass.

Additionally, ensuring adequate protein intake is crucial for maintaining muscle mass, especially for those who have already lost a significant amount of muscle while on Ozempic. This can be achieved through consuming bioavailable proteins such as red meat, eggs, and fish.

Monitoring your hormone levels and ensuring proper cholesterol intake is also important, as cholesterol is a building block for many hormones, including testosterone and estrogen.

It’s a scary place to live in knowing we have people in high positions, like judges, lawyers, prosecutors, probation officers, parents, etc. who’d rather use this stuff instead of fixing their diet! Food induced anger is a real thing! 💯 Thanks, Sir! Have a great day, everyone! 🙂

Depopulation at work. Gates wasn’t joking around. It’s so preposterous and outrageous that people cannot fathom it not only being real but happening to them in real time. People’s main defense: Saying “they wouldn’t do that now” or assuming it’s just yet another “mistake”.

They are still brainwashed with the food pyramid and lipid hypothesis lies. I spent decades starving myself fat and sick on 1200 low fat, high fibre calories a day for decades. Had an active job and went to the gym daily. Barely fit a size Canadian 18.
Switch to the human health diet in Good Calories, Bad Calories. The old 1950s British diet in the prologue.
Watched The Oiling of America. Removed all seed oils.
Lost the weight, no starving involved. Gained muscle strength finally.
If I was still following the Adventist cult death diet I would be going for it if I could. Desperation does that.

I was on Ozempic for over 2 years, 2.0 ml the last 2 months. Except at the very beginning, it never curbed my appetite. It did cause concerning constipation. I can’t say with any certainty it helped with controlling my blood sugar. I have quit Ozempic, my statin, and blood pressure medicines. I have been on the Keto diet with a daily 1600 calorie maximum , for past 6 weeks. I’m also walking and doing intermittent fasting 16/8. Since I started this I have lost over 20 pounds, my appetite is gone, and my blood sugar has gone from the mid 200’s to under 100.

    • @AG0024 on February 29, 2024 at 1:36 pm

16/8 so you eat 1 or 2 times in that frame then nothing for 16 hours?

Synthetic drugs come with a price. There’s nothing better than a healthy diet including good habits that promotes overall wellness in a natural way. Love your motto “Get healthy, lose weight and feel great”. That’s the best statement ever which actually works. Thanks for all your wonderful advice, Dr Berg 🙏🏻

    • @veronicascott313 on February 29, 2024 at 7:30 pm

People have been desensitized to the term side effects. It’s not like a man having a side chick (not condoning). A side effect is a resulting reaction or illness that is as bad or worse than the original.

I lost 100 lbs in a year(2023 )with Wegovy. I was/am doing a lot of exercise(walking 5 miles a day and weights), low carb and IF and I drink a lot less alcohol. I am considering stopping Wegovy and replacing it with Berberine and keeping everything else the same. Btw, there is something to semeglitide and drinking less alcohol. It definitely curbed/almost eliminated my desire to drink alcohol. Prior to starting Wegovy I was a pretty heavy drinker.

    • @outsidethebox8406 on February 29, 2024 at 2:02 pm

I hope you can maintain without it. Good luck to you.

    • @Noneofyourbusiness-pd1nb on March 1, 2024 at 1:27 am

How did you get Wegovy in 2023 if it was unavailable for the most of the year? Just curious.

    • @lilascharmante2712 on March 1, 2024 at 12:14 pm

NAC also made me not want to drink at all or smoke. Just putting it in here in case you stop Wegovy. NAC is a lot cheaper too and does help with insulin sensitivity.

  10. @mekman4 on February 29, 2024 at 1:48 pm

Thank you, always. Since adhering to your advice, I’ve reverse a lot of health problems. Stuff I don’t want to go into here, but I’ve come off medication.

I’ve been on Ozempic for 7 weeks now and I’ve lost 19 lbs. And it’s true. I have no appetite and I’m having to take lactulose for constipation and bentyl for intestinal spasms. I know it’s not a miracle cure but I REALLY need to lose weight. I’m homebound on O2 3ltrs 24/7. I have COPD, CHF Diabetes, and Rheumatoid Arthritis. So this is a last-ditch effort for me. I’ve not always been this heavy but health issues have caused me to fall into a deep depression and I want to live again. I really want to wake up and be glad im alive.

    • @moony77 on February 29, 2024 at 2:30 pm

Ozempic is causing gastro-paresis aka paralysis.

    • @loriirons9503 on February 29, 2024 at 2:38 pm

Please consider getting off this medicine asap. It is a huge part of your issue!! I went carnivore ( only eggs, meat, salt and water) on 8/29/22. I am 60 years old, I lost 70 pounds and have maintained my weight loss for over a year. I only eat one meal a day because my body does not require more than that. If I do get hungry I will eat an afternoon snack, but the intermittent fasting is key to helping your body. I understand the depression, mine lifted once I got off the carbs!!! Alot of your issues are autoimmune and cutting out meds would help dramatically. I was able to come off of my acid reflux meds, my bp med, and my zoloft. I am now prescription free and my A1C was 4.5, my glucose 80. You can do this!!! One day at a time, will pray for you Melanie!! I have a close friend with almost identical issues and she did it too. No more Ozempic, no more bipolar disorder. MEAT HEALS MANY PROBLEMS, and it is a simple way to live!!

    • @SunshineinUS on February 29, 2024 at 3:26 pm

Bentyl also causes constipation. I had to use it many years ago.

    • @teri3998 on February 29, 2024 at 9:00 pm

Hi Melanie, what dose of Ozempic are taking? I did fine beginning with 0.25, then 0.5. On 1.0 — no way!! Very sick, constant nausea, horrible constipation (chia seeds, flax seeds in yogurt helped). Went back down to O.5 & stayed there. Good luck!

    • @MelanieWeed77 on March 1, 2024 at 5:45 am

@loriirons9503  Thank you for the prayers. Congratulations on your weight-loss and how you accomplished it. I don’t want to be on ozempic very long. So I gotta research the best way for me to eat right and keep losing weight. I would like to hear more about this diet of yours.

Thank you for this. I have stopped taking one of these drugs the side effects were horrific and now facing a colonoscopy to figure out why my colon is inflamed. I already lost enough muscle mass from chemotherapy and told my doctor I don’t need this I need to go keto.

    • @annac.9138 on February 29, 2024 at 5:51 pm

Omg you did chemo why you took this medicine it caused tumor and tyerod cancer, I also had chemo and I wanted for the diabetic but when I got it and read that I just put all in the garbage. 😅🙏🏻 🗑

Dr. Berg you have divine timing. I am in the process of getting Ozempic. Yesterday I had my body fat assessment in a pod and I was more than depressed and ready to take Ozempic. It was required by my doctor to see a nutritionist for 6 months and I am half way there. After I got my results my mind was made up. I was going to get it. I go to the gym. I’m older and working hard to gain muscle. I am not going to do anything that would cancel out all my effort and leave me with less muscle than I have.
I have done keto and was successful with my weightloss (regained it all back) but I struggled with my blood pressure, electrolyte imbalances and I can’t have too many oxalates (lots of veggies and nuts) due to it flaring up my IC. 😢. I mention this because it’s not as simple as just doing keto.
Anyway, I am taking this as a sign not to take Ozempic. Thank you!

    • @lilascharmante2712 on March 1, 2024 at 12:16 pm

Try adding fasting too. Autophagy can heal your gut too.

Yes. Being healthy is the priority. Thank you.

    • @Drberg on March 1, 2024 at 2:20 pm

Very glad to be of help.

  20. @hankramos8663 on February 29, 2024 at 11:00 pm

Carnivore diet and intermittent fasting (canceled one of 3 meals a day which was lunch) is what worked for me. I went from 211 to 190 in 8 weeks.
