Let’s talk about how to stop period pain or menstrual cramps.
With period cramps, you experience cramping in the lower part of the body. It’s the uterus itself that’s cramping or contracting, which can cause a painful period.
A great way to get instant relief from menstrual cramps is to try stretching. To do this stretch, you need to lay on your stomach and push your hands into the ground straightening your arms and stretching your back.
However, to get to the root cause of the issue and get rid of menstrual cramps, we need to lower a chemical in the body called prostaglandins.
People will typically use ibuprofen to lower prostaglandins. But ibuprofen has side effects. Thankfully, there are natural alternatives you can try to help lower prostaglandins.
The best natural remedies for menstrual cramps:
1. Cinnamon
2. Vitamin D3, calcium, and magnesium
3. Omega-3 fatty acids (cod liver oil)

Thanks for watching! Try these tips to relieve menstrual cramps. I’ll see you in the next video.
I experienced so many problems throughout these years, but after watching your videos and improving my lifestyle I feel wonderful before and during my periods. Now I know the reason specifically. My Vitamin D3 was extremely low. Thanks to Dear Dr. Berg.
STOP EATING A HIGH CARB DIET! Trust me. I use to have horrible cramps until I completely cut out processed carbs like bread, pasta, sugar, cookies, potatoes… I would notice that the blood clots during menstruation was thick because carbs especially sugar and flour causes the blood to stick together and clot. When the blood is too thick then the uterus needs to CONTRACT more to push out the blood and this contraction is painful (similar to giving birth). Now my menstruation is painless and the blood is less thick on a clean Keto-vore diet.
yeah I do all that and i am still in pain each month. i think your just lucky tbh.
i went carb free for an entire month. i saw no difference@@RastaSchnauzer

Just in time for me, thank you. I’ve always had terribly painful periods. They got a bit better after I had kids, but I’m still down for a day with the cramps.

The best remedy is 1) 1 to 2 tblsp molasses daily
2) roasted pumpkin seeds
Both contain magnesium.
3) Reduce dairy/calcium… interferes with magnesium absorption.
@@knowledgeiseverything7621 This is so helpful, thank you! I’m trying cutting out dairy at the moment anyway so it’s great to have confirmation on that, I didn’t know about it doing that to magnesium. Thanks so much!
Aww, how did you know? I just did the stretch and it already brought me relief. Thank you!
Great. Glad this helped you.

Great info. I would love some help with PMDD. It’s a topic most doctors don’t want to touch on, lot of times writing a prescription, and I just don’t go that route. It’s been easier than it was in my 30’s, but I still struggle pretty hard before my bleeding starts.
Dr Berg’s videos /articles on specific symptoms you may have may help.
I believe this has to do with hormonal imbalances. Can be remedied through diet and movement/living. Maybe find a hormone nutrition coach and do some mineral testing and find out what you need to focus on eating in diet to help balance hormones. This has brought me a long way!
My stomachs been hurting since yesterday I took a pain pill but it’s still hurting this video just came in handy!! Great info I love that stretch pose it fixed my sciatica ❤

Dr. Berg in the 1980s I took evening primrose oil capsules for my painful periods, and it was a miracle! I had no PMS, no cramping. When my period arrived, it was always a surprise, because I no longer had any symptoms.
I tried those pills and i had terrible heavy menstruation then i stopped using it~even vitamin D3if i use i will have heavy menstruation, i don’t know why??😢
yeah that had no effect on me
I used that for years and it really helped me too

I’m too old for periods now but from 18-30 I had pain that was so bad, I’d black out and wake up on pavements covered in my own sick with strangers trying to help me up. Throwing up with pain as it was so intense sometimes. No painkiller would ever help, it was excruciating. I would crawl around my house crying. It took 12yr of this horror to discover I was low in certain vitamins and minerals.
that you for sharing, and sorry to hear it was so extremely bad. Do you mind sharing which vitamins and minerals were low for you?
@@LB-lx6jo Sure, I was low in all the B vitamins, D3, K, Zinc, Iron (terrible anaemia) and it was all well before Internet so I never even thought about nutrients etc. The paracetamol did nothing, I’d take 4 at once and it was like I’d taken nothing!
I used to describe it as someone putting a stick blender up there and switching it on, it was agony.
Ibuprofen didn’t seem to be around in UK as commonly as now, so I wasn’t told about it, and when I did get it (Nurofen in UK) OMG, it really helped! No doc had ever suggested it. I had had years of the agony before that, it was the 80s.
I hear primrose oil and starflower oil helps some women too.
Good luck! 🌻
Me too, it was excruciating. From age 10 to age 35! A male doctor told me the cause was that I was “rejecting (my) womanhood.” Honestly, that was the thinking back then. I finally figured out that I drank tons of milk and got too much calcium but needed Magnesium, which I did not get enough of. Thankfully I had a very easy menopause at age 50.

I always did these stretches with my arms stretchout against the wall and pulling my hips towards the wall. Huge relief.
I’d love to see a video on colloidal silver and its effects on the body. Maybe you’ve made one and I’ve missed it. Love the content and all of the amazing medical insights you have. Keep up the great work.

Yeah I’ve been taking liposomal mag l-threonate for sleep/anxiety but my last 3 periods didn’t hurt as much. A big clot passed painlessly when normally it’s agonizing for the 10 mins or more it takes to pass.
The timing of this video is eerie. I just had a bad cramps discussion with my gyno last Friday. As I’ve gotten older, my cramps have gotten way worse. They used to be mild to moderate, now they’re moderate to severe. Thanks for posting this video and alternatives to ibuprofen!!
He’s made more videos on cramps and on menstruations that may help as well.
Ok, I saw this video yesterday and I came back here today to comment as my period started and I tested this. I don’t have cramps exactly as I don’t find it to be that painful but I always have this constant annoying feeling down there on my first or second day. Well I got the feeling, tested this position and boom: the feeling was gone instantly. What a relief. I can’t believe I’ve never ever heard this anywhere before and I’ve had periods for almost 20 years already.
Dr. B! Love your content. I need to know how to get rid of polyps and especially fibroids. I’m going to focus on eating only vegetables and certain fruits for the next year. I’m trying to get pregnant and these issues are making my cycles difficult and limiting my ability to get pregnant.

For 10-15 years, I have had horrible disruptive cramps taking 4-6 ibuprofen monthly and after doing Keto, meditation, no sugar or alcohol, I have had ZERO issues for 3 months! 😊🎉
Amazing. Glad keto helped you. Have a nice day!
Every month I need to take 2-3 ibuprofen though I know the side effect but I can’t help. After observing this video I took cod liver oil/Omega 3 and within an hour my pain drastically reduced! No words to thank you Dr! You are great!
Came back to say the stretch gave me immediate relief. The magnesium also helped within a half hour, have not tried the other suggestions.
Perfect timing! I’m struggling with PMDD in my 30s and I’m desperately looking for a natural remedy. It’s debilitating. I got on birth control this year out of desperation and now regret it due to side effects. I stopped taking them a month ago but the withdrawal symptoms are wild. I refuse to get on any other prescription medication. Is anybody else out there struggling with PMDD? The doctors I visit, seem either clueless or dismissive about how extreme PMDD is. 😢
