If the bottom of your foot is inflamed, you don't want to stretch it! Stretching the calf or massaging the bottom of the foot can make plantar fasciitis pain worse.

Before you perform this plantar fasciitis stretch, rate your pain on a scale of 1 to 10 when putting pressure on your foot.

To perform the stretch, sit down and bend your toes downward. This shouldn’t hurt! This exercise stretches the opposite muscles and fascia. After performing this stretch, rerate your foot pain.

Another surprising solution for plantar fasciitis is a low-carb diet combined with intermittent fasting. Inflammation that can cause plantar fasciitis occurs when your carbs are too high.

The root cause of plantar fasciitis is too much calcium. Magnesium controls calcium in the body and can get rid of excess calcium. Cramps and plantar fasciitis are common signs of a magnesium deficiency. Try taking 400 mg of magnesium glycinate each day to combat plantar fasciitis.

Vitamin D helps with many calcium-related issues and has potent anti-inflammatory effects. Consider taking 20,000 IU of vitamin D daily for plantar fasciitis pain.

Magnesium won’t work well without vitamin D and vice versa. If you take too much vitamin D without magnesium, you’ll end up with a magnesium deficiency.

Vitamin D deficiency can contribute to plantar fasciitis, but you may also notice other problems, such as lower back pain, decreased immune function, and muscle achiness.

Always take vitamin D with vitamin K2, which helps remove calcium from the soft tissues.

Do these plantar fasciitis stretches several times daily until your foot and heel pain goes away. Vitamin D, K2, and magnesium combined with keto and intermittent fasting may significantly reduce plantar fasciitis pain in the long term.

    Shoes are number 4.
Certain shoes are recommended for this.
Wearing flip flops was my initial cause..
Your stretch and other advice is awesome. Thank you

Yes, shoes for me too. Almost two decades standing on concrete floors at work. 10 hour days with old Georgia Boot Romeos had me scared of how much pain I was in. Switched back to my old Dr. Martens with new insoles and so much better.

WONDERFUL! I have Plantar Facilititis in my right foot after walking a few miles. I love to walk a lot, and use a treadmill at a fast pace almost daily for years but never had it before in either foot. When I got it, I didn’t even know what it was or what went wrong. I did my research and found out. Of course, I found many references to use the usual wrong stretching methods and message. I did purchase a pair of Dr. Scholl’s specialized insoles for my shoes and I must say they started to work almost immediately and lessened the pain, but it was still there especially after periods of inactivity.

The issue has improved to almost no pain in about four weeks, but it still was a bother as I walked and used the treadmill. Then, a funny thing happened just a few days before I saw this video. I started taking more Magnesium because of your recently reiterated advice about it assisting vitamin D. All of a sudden the pain is almost completely gone but I didn’t really notice it until I bumped into this video and found out why! Thank you again, Dr, Berg!!

I have the same problem. I do 21k steps everyday. So just take magnesium supplements?

    • @OutofTime.. on December 30, 2024 at 1:49 pm

@RobPires The video says take Vitamin D3+K2 and magnesium.

I believe historically speaking we flare with these type of issues around the holidays. It’s a carby sorta time of year. Cheers and good luck.

Everything you have said to do, works!!! I had been doing all of this lately for my “bad foot”, which goes in and out of planter faucitis. I started sitting on my feet at least twice a day (with my yoga) a month ago and have been taking 5000mg of Mag Gly + 20000iu of D3/K2 a day several months ago for my Fibromyalgia.

  11. @ash_sheeeesh on December 30, 2024 at 12:33 pm

i use stairs 10-20 times a day and i used to get knee pain , once i started taking 60k ius per week the pain went away instantly , you are a life save mr. eric . the world needs more people like you

    • Anonymous on December 30, 2024 at 12:38 pm

      What is/are IUS?

    • @k14michael on December 30, 2024 at 1:37 pm

He probably meant 60,000 International Units of vitamin D per week.

    • Anonymous on December 30, 2024 at 2:32 pm

      @k14michael  thanks

    • @aquagrunty101 on December 30, 2024 at 3:11 pm

Been taking 20k IUs for a month and this entierly went away. I stopped to let my body’s food stores catch up (I am severely depleted) and within two days the pain returned

  12. @jenmoore5571 on December 30, 2024 at 12:34 pm

Every morning i had pain under my feet when i got out of bed, just did the stretching of my feet and instantly the pain was gone, wow amazing, Thanks lovey 😊 my 77 year old feet are grateful.

  13. @CookChef-oz4bc on December 30, 2024 at 1:12 pm

I had this for 3 years it was very painful at night 😢…..I had to wear a boot and go to physical therapy for years and for other reasons, After taking a look at my Diet I noticed pictures of what I was eating I started taking away some of my meals to see if it would help with my feet and ankle
I cut out most of my nuts, I stopped using Can whipped topping, cheap brands olive oils and more Long story short after about 3 months It was the veggies burgers BEYOND burgers it took me about 2 or 3 weeks and the pain was completely gone ❤ someone on Dr. Berg community page told me to take a look at what I was eating and This is the reason why I read the comments from Dr Berg and Dr Ekberg videos

I’m one of those people who these exercises worked for a few years ago. Particularly the reverse stretch by kneeling on a hard floor and sitting back on your heels using body weight to reverse stretch the foot. I did this several times a day, holding the stretch for 30 seconds. The relief was instant and after a week my PF pain had gone from a 9 to zero. I still do this exercise occasionally, particularly if I’ve been standing for a long time and my foot feels tight. Most of the time though I never think about PF and consider myself cured. Thank you Dr. Berg.

  15. @lilyrose4191 on December 30, 2024 at 1:36 pm

I learnt this handy tip from you, in an earlier video! I had such a problem with it, I was limping, so much pain.
However, after the stretches I had a release from the pain, almost instantly! I was amazed. Since then I have told numerous people about that video and your advice. Some dietary changes and adjustments with vitamins followed.
I do the stretches if I even feel a twinge of PF … I seem to be cured of it, as I haven’t had any problems in a long time!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! You are amazing! You are a true Blessing in our lives.

    • @rosalindjenkins7790 on December 30, 2024 at 2:00 pm

Same!!! TOTALLY worked! Exact situation… haven’t had that PF pain ever since !!!

I had planters and didn’t know much about it actually thought I bruised my foot badly until realized pain wasn’t going away . I started a yoga practice which incorporates the stretch shown sitting on your feet stretching your tibialis anterior and pain went away . The vitamin D and magnesium and low carbs is excellent and very effective for keeping pain away and healthy

  20. @deviraja9554 on December 30, 2024 at 5:48 pm

I’m suffering with Planter fasciatis for the past 18months. Consulted 2 orthopedics who didn’t ask me to do vit D test at all but gave pain killers. I follow you since long time. After seeing your videos on vitamin D, I decided to do the test which turned out to be deficient. So I started taking d3 with k2 and my pain started reducing considerably. I then increased my daily D dosage from 6000iu to 10000iu. Within 2 weeks(since last month) I’m completely out of the pain. I’m still continuing the same dosage. My family was bit worried for going on self medication. But I was so sure that this would solve my issue n it did. Thanks a tonne.

    • @truthseeker3031 on December 30, 2024 at 7:08 pm

Instead of the majority worrying about self-medication, maybe they need to worry more about the prescription ones.
