Today we’re going to talk about methylene blue. I haven’t talked about this before because it’s not a natural remedy—it’s actually a synthetic drug. However, it has some interesting properties.

Methylene blue is sold over the counter and has been around for a very long time. It was the first fully synthetic drug in medicine, one of the first antibiotics, and one of the first antipsychotic drugs.

It was also used for malaria and is currently used for cyanide poisoning and carbon monoxide poisoning. In low doses, methylene blue acts as an antioxidant.

Methylene blue can potentially help with certain conditions, including:
• Septic shock
• Anaphylaxis
• Viruses
• Fatigue
• Brain fog
• Memory loss
• Depression
• Candida
• Nerve degeneration
• Gout
• Mitochondrial dysfunction
• Inflammation

If you decide to try methylene blue, I suggest getting the USP pharmaceutical grade one percent solution. This will give you about 0.5 mg per drop.

Someone taking an SSRI would not want to take methylene blue. Check with your doctor before taking something like this for any other contraindications.

Interesting! If cancer is a metabolic disease, I bet this could help. Also interesting that the protocol for a cancer treatment had the initials “REDUX” . Hmmmm…Picking up this for my medicine cabinet. I stay away from synthetics as well, but this may help someone in the coming days. As always- Dr. Berg to the rescue!

Do think you need to be careful which type of cancer . With, for example, endoneuron tumours too much serotonin can be secreted by the hormones. MB , as far as I can tell, increases our serotonin levels. So taking MB in this case could be dangerous leading to too much serotonin

    • mimi27513 on April 4, 2023 at 8:38 pm

@Emer O’Regan good point. Do your research friends! The protocol for Non- Hodgkin’s lymphoma was the one I was referring to-

Good morning Dr. Berg, Thank you so much for all the information you provide us with on daily basis. Since you are very much involved in growing your own veggies and raising chickens, we would greatly appreciate it if you can make a video about how to raise healthy chickens. The eggs that we buy at the grocery store are not nutrient dense and contain soy. Thanks again.

    • Kan F on April 4, 2023 at 5:26 pm

A friend of mine sprouts sunflower seeds and his chickens love it.

    • mimi27513 on April 4, 2023 at 8:36 pm

@Kan F I need to try that. They definitely prefer the seed in the scratch mix they get.

    • Icelily on April 4, 2023 at 8:53 pm

Grow your own maggots to feed them. Meal worms or whatever. Healthiest and probably cheapest form of organic protein. Supplement with organic grains and sprouted greens. Let em have the scraps from your table and garden.

Also, get wild(ish) chickens if you can and let em run. Heritage white leghorns are probably your best bet. Bonus: they’ll roost in trees and ya don’t hafta build a coop for em.

Good luck with the egg hunt. Lmao

    • Kan F on April 4, 2023 at 11:50 pm

@Icelily maybe set up a spy cam and watch where they go:). Start a worm farm, great idea!

Thanks for this info Dr. Berg. Although MB appears to be useful for many things and it is very safe for most, my only concern is if it has any adverse impact on our microbiome. MB has many beneficial effects, and it also acts as an antiviral, but will it also act as a bacteriacide and damage our legion of freinds in our gut? Does anyone out in YouTube land have any answers and research that could shed light on this aspect of MB? Dr. Berg, do you know?

    • Key Largo on April 4, 2023 at 2:03 pm

Dr. Francisco Gonzalez-Lima (University of Texas at Austin) says no. Someone emailed him this exact question recently on another podcast, and reported back his response.

    • John Bunten on April 4, 2023 at 2:47 pm

Thanks Key Largo. I’ve been taking MB for a few years with good results along with red light. Just trying to optimize and am looking deeper. Dr. G. has some very good research and Mark Sloan’s book is useful as well.

What diseases is Methylene Blue used for? How does Methylene Blue affect the pathological mechanism?

  9. GenRN on April 4, 2023 at 12:04 pm

I use this for my freshwater fish. Recently I used it to save my $600 lavender Ranchu goldfish. She had a huge hole in her back that was created by another fish. I thought for sure I was going to lose her. I moved her into a hospital tank for over a month and used methylene blue and she healed up beautifully.

    • Micks rovers MG on April 4, 2023 at 12:50 pm

Sounds more like a heron strike too me that keep eye out will ploat your pond!

    • GenRN on April 4, 2023 at 1:43 pm

@Micks rovers MG well, they are indoors in a 270 gallon aquarium. No herons in the living room. It was American Flag fish that were attacking her. They got moved to a separate tank. She was new to the community of 14 goldfish and they targeted her. But you are correct, outdoor fish are very vulnerable to predators from the sky!

This was given to the “blue Fugates” family of Kentucky that had a genetic defect that caused them to have very blue skin. It almost instantly turned them back to a normal skin color. It is a fascinating case.

    • Jen on April 5, 2023 at 1:08 am

@Deborah Dean There’s a ton of articles about it. The nurse who helped administer the Methylene Blue injection said that their skin “changed color before her eyes.”

  12. Zanne Jae on April 4, 2023 at 12:44 pm

It would be super appreciated to have a reputable source. It’s my understanding even some pharmaceutical grade still has heavy metals.💚
Thanks for all you do. The material is easily digestible and dense. I can only imagine the the time of research and prep that goes in to these videos. You get to the point and don’t take an hour to explain things. Thank you!!

Our functional med clinic gets theirs from a very specific compounding pharmacy in a neighboring city. They said they are very particular in who they source from. If you can ask around in your area, you might find a provider who can direct you to a trusted pharmacy.

      Good question

  13. Ashley Scheel on April 4, 2023 at 1:55 pm

I recently found out about MB through a functional med PA who was trying to help me treat double ear infections on my non-verbal, sensory issues 2yo. We tried breathing treatments with the few remanding drops orally. Within three days of three of these treatments, it was like seeing a different kid. After a month of maybe one or two oral doses a week, he is saying I Love You, Hi, and Up (a couple of times). Yesterday he wore shoes for over a hour! Before he wouldn’t let you touch his head. It was like he could see that hand coming from a mile away, even from behind. Now he WANTS me to touch his face, neck, ears and head. He is giving kisses and interacting in a completely different way! We have made more progress in one month than we have made in over a year!

    This stuff is AMAZING!

Edited to add that he voluntarily walked through the grass yesterday! He wasn’t doing that on Saturday! A two dose difference. He was also playing more independently last night and the “hand leading” has significantly decreased.

    • Kathy on April 5, 2023 at 2:33 pm

@Ashley Scheel no worries ty for responding ❤️

    • Ashley Scheel on April 5, 2023 at 2:38 pm

@Deanna Sander I hope it helps! My husband isn’t always impressed by crunchy, less widely used remedies, but even he was astonished by the difference in Q’s interaction within those first three days. The first day he faught the breathing treatment and cried the whole way through. By the third day he was sticking his face into the mist. And he got the barest amount those first three doses. It was pretty crazy to see it work!

    • Emer O'Regan on April 5, 2023 at 3:34 pm

@Ashley Scheel wow that seems so little? I thought a low dose is .5 mg per kg of weight every day or twice a day? Amazing such a positive effect given such a low dose? Did the functional med doc recommend that dose?

    • captnhuffy on April 5, 2023 at 4:36 pm

@Deanna Sander Can you please give updates? Regardless if it helps or not.

    • MisterScalper on April 5, 2023 at 5:28 pm

This is very interesting. A common thread with autistic people is that they have severe methylation cycle defects, so if you target those defects for example with methylcobalamin and methylfolate, they see improvement.

I wonder if the methyl component in MB is doing the same for your child.

This is fantastic news, what a blessing.

It’s a relief to hear methylene blue is actually good for the health. In 1978, for an environmental impact assessment, I was asked to dump a 42 gallon drum of methylene blue into the Quirk tailings basin. This caused an eerie blue color for a dozen lakes and the entire 50km of the Serpent River system before it reached Lake Huron. It helped researchers in an airplane who took photos of the progress of the dye, ultimately to better manage potential pollution incidents from mine tailings. The local population thought it was a sign of the end of the world. I guess environmental impact assessments were more expedient and less consultative 5 decades ago….

    • John Lee on April 4, 2023 at 11:39 pm

Ok, we’re gonna do an environmental impact study of radioactive goo on this here lake. Go ahead and pour it in. Yup, just dump right on in there. We want to see what happens…

I had thyroid cancer and also my gallbladder is removed. I gained so much weight with my cancer and hypothyroidism and wasn’t getting anywhere with my doctors. I now understand insulin resistance and I’m doing 22 hours fasting and drinking ACV with lemon. I just started but it is making such a difference. Thank you so much.

Thank you Dr. Berg. Recording some research healling is emplify by Photosyntesis with red light therapy while using Methylene Blue. Methylene Blue was for neuropathy in my feet.. Started in low dosage, gradualy added 1 to 2 drop everyday.. I took it for 1.5 month. It help a lot like a miracle; at first I thought could be placebo I was so traumatized by the pain for 2 yrs+ I could not believe it. We can’t take that for to long though, I am doing better and taking a break. I have to mention it have given me vivid dreams too.

When my baby brother had bad eczema on his face, our French doctor prescribed methylene blue to be painted on his face. We made sure he could not see his reflection in any of the mirrors in the house. The eczema disappeared, and after that, his skin was always beautiful.
At the university where I worked, once in a while we put MB in the lake to get rid of the bacteria and fungus.

After having Covid, my dad had persistent unexplained low o2 levels, fatigue, chest pain and a lot of other symptoms. Our integrative doctor had him do daily ozone treatment for 2 weeks, along with 2x daily methylene blue therapy using a light therapy device as well. We saw greater and faster healing and progress with those therapies in 2 weeks than the 6 weeks he was hospitalized and almost died due to the cdc protocol. Ozone and methylene blue saved his life. When he got out of the hospital they told him he’d been on oxygen the rest of his life…he is now healthy and active without needing supplemental oxygen at all.
