Today I want to cover some important information on reducing the side effects of medications.

Phase 1 and phase 2 enzymes are groups of enzymes that help break down medications and toxins in the liver. These enzymes turn medications and toxins into harmless water-soluble particles that can be eliminated through the body.

If this enzyme system isn’t working, you could experience more side effects from medications. Your medications may also not be as effective as they should be.

Certain things can decrease the function of phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification, including:
• DNA mutations
• Liver problems
• Consuming grapefruit
• Certain medications

How to support phase 1 and phase 2 detoxification:
1. Consume cruciferous vegetables, allium vegetables, sulforaphane, or DIM
2. Do fasting
3. Reduce exposure to toxins
4. Strengthen the liver (do Healthy Keto® and take milk thistle)
5. Use herbal remedies (curcumin, green tea, and garlic)

Morning Dr. A friend of mine told me he was experiencing prostate issues where as he had saw some pus coming out of his penis. He said the dr told him after several tests that it wasn’t cancer and seems to be prostatitis. I was wondering if D mannose is something that can help or what he needs to do

    • Debra Hewitt on February 8, 2023 at 11:24 am

D-Mannose will help. But alkaline structured silver works faster and takes the pain away fast.

      Not colloidal silver…..

People with medical problems should do an elimination diet with their food , try meat eggs fish for 90 days and watch how good they feel , so much of what people eat is what is causing their problems

    • cywoods60 on February 8, 2023 at 3:28 pm

@James Kozlowski are you saying don’t eat these things for 90 days?

    • James Kozlowski on February 8, 2023 at 3:35 pm

@cywoods60 I am saying only eat real eggs, meat and fish for 90 days Thats a proper human diet , dont eat sugar, or grains , seed oils, Mcdonalds or any junk food , pop or soda , and watch your health come back , mine did.

I am a retired clinical nurse with a masters in research microbiology and biochemistry. I’ve kept up with the research and managed to cure mysrlf of a severe illness. One paper I read and used for myself was the discovery that in many many cases taking a med on alternative days gave the same treatment effect but reduced or even eliminated the side effect. Worth a try. It worked for me taking prednisone and metformin.

    • D. H. on February 8, 2023 at 4:21 pm

@Isabella Jones I’m always curious to see what side effects other people have from medications. I’m taking Armour Thyroid and I’ve started to experience tingling and numbing in my right arm and right leg esp when I sleep at night. I don’t know if it’s related to the armour thyroid, or to the fact that I used to keep my cell phone in my back pocket on the right side for the past 10 years….and it could be emf radiation that has caused nerve damage. I looked up the side effects of armor thyroid and it says weakness in the legs and leg cramps. I do get leg cramps in my right leg, but I don’t have weakness, just the numbness in the leg and arm.

    • Isabella Jones on February 8, 2023 at 4:44 pm

@D. H. A good thing to do is to look up the known side effects of whatever you are taking. We used to use the Merck Index on the ward, but that’s expensive. There are several good medical sites, like the Mayo Clinic. If they correspond with what you are experiencing, it would be good to get medical advice re modulating the drug. If you dont like the first advice, get a second or third one.

    Fantastic information, Dr. Berg.

I hadn’t realised that curing a fatty liver would reduce side effects. I used to get a headache, flushing and a stuffy nose from Tamsulosin medication and as I’ve been fasting with keto for almost three years, I get zero side effects from that medication. Obviously I’d like to get off Tamsulosin in the long run but clearly, having a healthy liver helps.

Perfectly timed, Dr Eric Berg! Thank you! My body reacts differently and usually overreacts to most all drugs given me. (Most recently was during and after a hip labral tear repair surgery November 2021.) I have a back fusion surgery scheduled. It has been scheduled for mid January until the Surgical RN talked to me about my health history and Rx list and insisted I needed to have it done in a hospital instead of the Vikings Recovery Center. I’ve already had a full 77 genetics panel done and sadly the genetics Dr is 10-12 months wait/200+ patients backlogged and unable to help before the surgery. I’m🙏🏼 for answers.

    • My My on February 8, 2023 at 3:15 pm

well said. Back in the late 70s I read ‘Vitamin C and the Common Cold’, by Linus Pauling (Nobel prize, biochemistry winner). He detailed the research showing that vit C in multi-gram doses DOUBLES the speed of healing after surgery and increases the strength of the scar tissue. I tried it out myself after a bout of dental surgery which required stitches. The dentist nearly jumped down my throat when he saw the progress of healing – he chewed me out for not coming back to have the stitches out after TWO weeks as I had been instructed. He said it was ‘four weeks worth of healing’. So Linus Pauling and my dentist and I agree – six grams of pure powdered vit C a day (3 x2g doses in water with food), really does DOUBLE the speed of healing. (I do not recommend the tablet form which contain high levels of sodium compound fillers.)

    • Kathleen C on February 8, 2023 at 6:23 pm

@My My where do you buy the pure powdered Vit c? Is there a brand you would recommend?

    • My My on February 8, 2023 at 6:29 pm

@Kathleen C – eBay often sells it, Peak Supps in the UK, lots of places online. Order 1kg packs for economy

Thanks Dr. Berg. Do you know any information about uterine hypoplasia? What can cause such a diagnosis?

  11. Gary McKenzie on February 8, 2023 at 1:22 pm

Very happy to hear you’ve been deep diving into genetics. It is interesting and fascinating at the same time. Thank-you for getting this very important information out. p.s. wait till you find out our dna has been capped.

    • Dixieland Patriot on February 8, 2023 at 1:49 pm

And doctor Bruce Lipton has done tremendous research on how genetics does not play a part in our health! Traditional medicine especially in the US has all been a lie to keep us sick

  12. GreenSmoothieParty on February 8, 2023 at 1:39 pm

The Beers Criteria List of Medications identifies dozens of prescribed drugs that are potentially harmful for elderly patients. Sometimes a patient needs to mention this list to their physician so they will discuss and carefully review the risk vs benefit in their case.

“How to avoid side effects” Don’t take it ; ) I have been working SO HARD to try to educate myself on Natural Healing from plants… Since I’m almost 70, I need all the help naturally we can get. That’s why I’m here.

Thanks Dr. Berg! Can you please elaborate more on the GRAPEFRUIT connection & effect when taken with an inhibitor med? 🙂

Dr. Berg! Hello, huge fan here. This was definitely perfect timing. I have recently been taking Lisinopril/HCTZ that my Dr started me on in December. I also got Covid shortly after in that time frame. I have been suffering so much with breathing problems and a severe dry hacking cough that gets so bad, it will cause vomiting and also empty my bladder. It feels like I have a huge long cotton in my throat or like something is stuck in there. I’ve cried so much having to deal with this has been horrible. I have asthma and remember, I just had Covid around the time Lisinopril was prescribed to me so I kept blaming Long Covid that was triggering my asthma and causing the coughing and wheezing. That all changed when I remembered my sister telling me that the Dr she works with had told her that Lisinopril is known for a severe dry cough side effect. I looked it up and read so many reviews from patients on how it made them deathly ill and end up in the ER. All their symptoms were mine. Including the feeling that there were hands wrapped around my neck. Why would she prescribe this medication KNOWING I have asthma? Why would I want to cough more and trigger it? 😢

  18. Miriam Rojas on February 8, 2023 at 3:32 pm

“To take a poison, I’m sorry a medication ” I love it when Dr Berg calls things by the *real name 🙂

Careful with DIM! My cholesterol went from low 200 to 380, LDL off the chart. After stopping DIM, went back to normal. It would be wise to do blood work frequently when taking DIM. I took DIM for 7 months before seeing the problem, and it took another 7 months to recover.

That handout is AWESOME! Bombshell! 🤯 Thank you for researching and breaking it down for lay people to understand. I am so grateful to you Dr. Berg! 🌟🥗🌟🥗🌟🥗🌟🥗🌟🥗
