Today, we’re going to talk about one of the best natural remedies to increase testosterone: onions.

Testosterone does a lot in the body, including increasing libido, controlling male characteristics, and increasing muscle growth.

When someone takes testosterone, they inactivate the gland that makes the hormone. Generally, we want to choose natural ways to increase testosterone, which can involve natural glandular therapy.

Onions are high in quercetin, which triggers the luteinizing hormone. Luteinizing hormone controls and can increase the production of testosterone in males.

Onions also have a lot of additional health benefits:
• They have powerful antioxidant effects
• They have properties that help with insulin resistance
• They have anti-cancer properties
• They can help increase nitric oxide to support the vascular system
• They may help reduce the risk of cataracts
• They may help reduce the risk of allergies
• They have potent anti-inflammatory properties
• They may help decrease blood pressure
• They can act as a diuretic

It’s best to consume raw onions to support healthy testosterone levels. However, you can sauté the onions or cook them—just be sure not to overcook them.

Allicin in onions and garlic has been shown to increase testosterone, as well as capsaicin, the spicy compound in hot peppers has been shown to increase testosterone as well.

      What is testosterone?

    • Tt Ii on February 15, 2023 at 5:48 am

Hot peppers are forbidden fruits on an authentic paleo diet since the seeds and outer skins are full of gut wrenching lectins. Consume at your own peril. You have been amply warned!

    • Tt Ii on February 15, 2023 at 5:54 am

1 clove of large garlic, 2 cloves if medium-sized or 3 if small.

    • Donald Carter on February 16, 2023 at 2:17 am

But if you’re on Keto, we still need to watch our carb intake. Perhaps there is an extract of these good things 🤔.

    • Francisco Bocanegra on February 17, 2023 at 9:49 am

I’m a chef to be. And a body builder at heart. Let me write this down. Onions, spicy peppers, allicin. What else?

Wow. That’s great. My son eats a huge onion a day. He eats it in a salad. He also cuts it in thin slices along with garlic. Puts olive oil, lemon juice, salt and pepper and eats it as is.

  8. Mary Castronova on February 14, 2023 at 12:59 pm

Onions and mushrooms go great together with chicken or in an omelet. Also great with brown rice and home fries, but don’t tell Dr. Berg I said that. But really if you do eat those carbs you can use them to cut back the ratio using a lot more onion and mushrooms .

  9. Stephen Vendryes on February 14, 2023 at 1:06 pm

Hello Dr. Berg, I heard that onions have a sandpaper for the blood quality that helps repair damage to arteries from smoking. I ate half an onion a day for 3 months as recommended. I saw a significant drop in my blood pressure. Placebo effect or did it do the job?

  10. carolina beacher on February 14, 2023 at 1:49 pm

thnkas for yet another great video, i love onions, i eat them in about everything, after finding your channel in mid june, i have lost over 40 lbs in the first 5 months, my neck and back have hurt since 1996 from a head on collusion, after diet changes the only time they hurt now is if i sleep funny. i spent the past 20 plus years baking, making my own pasta noodles, eating bad overall, now i follow a lot of these recommendations and have kept the weight off so far and still working on losing more.

My grandmother used to make onion soup at least once a week when we were kids. We didn’t really get sick as kids now that I think about it. Also didn’t have much acne going through puberty.

  13. Healthy Parenting with Mfon on February 14, 2023 at 3:49 pm

Wow, my husband eats raw onions everyday and that used to be irritating to me but now I will be encouraging him the more. I will be eating more now because of its amazing benefits. Thanks for sharing Dr. Berg.

    • silky Robinson on February 14, 2023 at 9:34 pm

@Mitchell Cole seriously ? The one thing I slightly agreed with him on was said, was that some of us need swords and we get a lot more things done if we pointed at people, with our sword.

    • Mitchell Cole on February 15, 2023 at 12:50 am

@silky Robinson Yes. I’ve seen that video before that was pretty funny. Remember, everything that’s said online isn’t automatically true, there’s people high up that will lie and people have lied on Andrews name. COVID is a good example of this.

In Romania it’s guilty until proven innocent. Many people don’t understand how blessed we are in the U.S., it doesn’t take much for other countries to throw a guy in jail for any reason they want to. There’s a lot of evil people in this world (elites) that want people to suffer. Tate had a huge influence over the world and he spreaded masculinity in the new generation coming up, they don’t want this. They want men to be weak, docile, and be a tax slave for the system.

    • I'm happy on February 15, 2023 at 3:47 am

Onions are packed with phytonutrients that boost the production of vitamin C. This helps strengthen the immune system and fight toxins that affect the body’s stamina.

I have a weird condition. Hoping you might have an answer of suggestion Dr Berg. I have an auto immune disease (RA), GERD, POTS and a sensitivity to certain supplements / foods that causes SVT like episodes. An EP study determined there was nothing to ablate but when I eat foods with or supplement Niacin or any other anti-inflammatory supplement my body flips out. Aggregated tachycardia for 72 hours. So I stopped supplementing and started fasting and lowering my carb intake to control my inflammation issues. No sugars, no red meats, low carbs. Now tests have consistently shown high ketones (10+) in my blood / urine. I tried eating bread but that will cause an SVT like episode. So I’m like stuck in ketosis. My PCP says I’m not insulin resistant and I don’t have low insulin. So I should just eat break to lower my ketone. Idk what to do. Low testosterone, cortisol AM, Vitamin D, C, Omega3, Zinc, glutathione, B1, B2, B9 and B12. I’m confirmed MTHFR gene. How can I get myself out of this loop? I would hire you but can’t afford your services unfortunately. I need help sir. Been feeling sick for 6 months. Doctors keep telling me I’m fine and this will all pass in due time but I’m not sure I believe them. Doing what I can to lower inflammation but why won’t my body accept the nutrients I need to feel better and heal? Why do they cause an SVT attack? How can I reverse POTS and auto immune? How can I safely lower my ketones?

That onion water thing that was sweeping other social media platforms is another good way if you don’t like the spicy taste. I did it more for ease first thing in the morning and after dinner, but if you slice up a medium or large red onion, put it in a mason jar and fill the vessel up with water, drink two large glasses a day and it helps a lot with inflammation. I have asthma that has developed since I’ve been on prescription meds, and it makes me susceptible to airway infections. I found this water helped shorten the recovery time considerably.

Thanks as always Dr. Berg! If you don’t mind, can you make a video about treating fungal acne? I have been suffering from this acne for a long time now and it has really bothered me. Thanks as always!

Dr. Burg, I find a catch 22 for every healthy food 😋 out there. For instance, almonds are healthy aside from phytik acid and round up, and some nuts are high in lecktins. That being said, I’ve been following your healthy Keto very strictly for 6 months. Starting weight was around 240 now below 180 my goal is 175 but if I get to 165 that will be great too😃 thank you for all your very helpful information!

I was just asking some young children last week why they thought Shrek was so big and strong. They had no answer so I told them, because he eats onions.

Andrew Tate brought that to my attention a couple months ago. Some European fighters ate onions after training and working out, is what the story is. Thank you Dr. Berg for confirming the idea.

  19. Lazercrotch on February 17, 2023 at 1:17 am

I love all kinds of onions. Red, yellow, white, green onions are a treat with Thai dishes as well as beans & rice! Also love garlic. Hadn’t heard of all of the benefits for testosterone or that there was that much quercetin in onions. Thanks Doc!

  20. Gamingwithmoba on February 17, 2023 at 4:43 am

Me and my dad used to eat 3-4 Onions raw everyday by roughly cutting them and then putting some salt, black pepper and lemon juice on it , and it tasted amazing with any food you eat. We Didn’t know it had effects on testosterone we just eaten it with every meal we have throughout the day.

    • Cynthia Crawford on February 17, 2023 at 6:28 pm

I put onions tomatoes and cucumbers in an oil and vinegar dressing. Sometimes i put italian or balsamic vinaigrette dressing instead.let it sit in the fridge for a few hours and youre good to go. Cucumbers are so good for you too.
