Let's talk about how to lower cortisol, lose belly fat, and support a healthy mood with a simple 1/2 cup of tea.

Cortisol is the main stress hormone. Many people are exposed to chronic high cortisol levels. When you're exposed to high levels of cortisol over a long time, you could potentially develop cortisol resistance.

Cortisol resistance is a situation where you have high levels of cortisol in the body, but it's not working as it should. This can lead to a cascade of health problems.

Some people end up with cortisol resistance due to stress, but others have a genetic weakness that can lead to this issue.

Potential effects of high cortisol:
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Belly fat
• Cognitive problems
• Metabolic syndrome
• PCOS
• Bone loss
• Insulin resistance

The best remedy to lower cortisol is a phytonutrient called EGCG in green tea. Drinking green tea regularly may help reduce stress and lower cortisol.

Other great natural remedies to lower cortisol:
• Licorice
• Curcumin
• Emodin (Japanese knotweed)

I drink 2 cups of coffee a day, that’s it. The remainder of the day I drink water. I drink my water in the winter from pint canning jars with screw on lid. I have been drinking green tea daily for about a month now. As for my stress level, yes that has improved somewhat, but I am building a new cottage so ….But I will agree, the inflammation in my wrists has changed significantly. I drink it in a cold form, may switch to hot on the really cold days. Thanks for all your great vids! Those and doing my own research has given me a lot more power at the Dr.s office.

@Dr.Berg – Thank you and God bless you. That you care so much about people to post the wonderful health videos you do is really appreciated. You have literally saved countless lives, (mine included, from cancer). So many doctors today really don’t care anymore about the health of people as they do about money. It’s beyond sad to downright evil that anyone puts money before people’s very lives. We can see the results of this today with the big pharmaceutical companies.

Thank you Dr. Berg. Such a simple solution to a huge problem. I have been taking “Cortisol Calm” by PURE to help me sleep; however, if I can reduce the Cortisol by drinking Green Tea, then I am drinking Green Tea

I have one cup daily already. It would be helpful to know their method for making their tea in the experiments. I typically make green tea at 140 degrees F, and I brew for 3 minutes. Green tea can go bitter quickly if you use boiling water or steep for too long.

    • catbootsy on January 9, 2023 at 3:49 pm

Thank you for sharing this method. That bitterness is exactly why I wouldn’t make this a daily habit. Fingers crossed because I know this is an issue for me.

I lived in China for over a decade. First Water of brewed tea you get rid of Is the second one you drink , enjoy 😊

Thank you, Dr Berg, once again for the hours spent doing the research. Alot of your videos are helping me keep my psychology and physiology functioning optimally despite prolonged unemployment and no medical cover. I hope you feel my gratitude in these words. Thank you.

@Dr. Eric Berg DC Hello, Dr. Berg. Why do pharmaceuticals have so many side effects!

  14. Peter Schmidt on January 9, 2023 at 12:56 pm

Thank you so much for addressing this issue. I work in a high stress healthcare environment and have witnessed these symptoms in my own life – and I have seen my belly fat “fall off” within two months when I was not working in that environment. So I know that stress and cortisol is my main issue. I’ve also been combating depression tendencies with vitamin B – which has helped a great deal. Green tea rather than coffee is going to be my new “go to” drink from now on. Thanks again for great educational materials!

    • John Brown on January 9, 2023 at 2:22 pm

      Ashwagandha might assist too.

    • Lekshaa Vanii on January 9, 2023 at 4:32 pm

      @John Brown yes.

    • X X on January 9, 2023 at 5:19 pm

Is there a particular vitamin B that you’ve been taking?

    • Celia Uzarski on January 9, 2023 at 5:40 pm

I bet it is vitamin B one. Dr. Berg is always coaching us that we burn off vitamin be one when we are under stress

    • Raul on January 9, 2023 at 5:41 pm

High levels of cortisol leads to belly fat. Is this “belly fat” the deep visceral fat? Or is this the subcutaneous belly fat just underneath the skin? 🤔

  15. IAMMANNA on January 9, 2023 at 1:30 pm

Literally did my first 24 hours no sugar. At all! Woke up less bloated 3 lbs lighter. As a mom of 7 no need mention stress. I need my health, wondered why my belly felt so big even when fasting. But today I wake up to this video. Thank you for this extra boost. And thank you for everything else you do for me and everyone. Heres to health and Prosperity. Thanks Doc!!

    • Ama Ama on January 9, 2023 at 2:31 pm

IAMMANNA , You already did your 24 hours and was successful , less bloated and 3 Lbs lighter.
Then today you wake up to this video. How come you wake today to this video while you had succesful results of trying what the video said 24 hours ago ?

    • Luna 🌓 on January 9, 2023 at 2:41 pm

      💪💪💪🌺💪💪💪💪

    • IAMMANNA on January 9, 2023 at 4:45 pm

@Ama Ama no, I decided to go carnivore over 24 hours ago. To eliminate sugar and carbs from my life. This video is an added confirmation that alot of my belly fat/bloat could stem from stress and/or excess cortisol. (Also in turn out of balance because of carbs). This video added valuable information to what I’m doing. Regaining my health.

Thank you Dr. Berg for this video! I do not drink caffeine. Would the green tea without caffeine have the same benefits you mentioned in the video?

    • Lo Lo on January 9, 2023 at 2:37 pm

Even the decaf has me going to bathroom A LOT

I will start my fifth day of a 7 day prolonged fast! Yay! The first 24 hours was easy, second was emotionally hard fighting with my willpower, third and half of fourth was physically hard because I was brain dead and lethargic, this morning I have lots of energy and sweating and my fifth 24 hours will start at 2pm in 6 hours. Just thought I would share since nobody I know can relate.

    • Who Knows on January 9, 2023 at 5:27 pm

Will start my second one 72h in 2 weeks when I have time to

@Who Knows WISH I HAD UR WILLPOWER 😁😁

    • Sarah M on January 9, 2023 at 5:57 pm

@PYHOOYA I prepared myself mentally this time to do it. I told myself I will listen to Dr Berg’s videos on the benefits of prolonged fasting to keep resisting the temptation to justify stopping.

I can attest to it, this is EXACTLY what happened to me today! I’ve been dealing with chronic pain daily for years that doctors don’t know why but I realized it’s likely an extreme level of adrenal fatigue and yesterday especially it was very bad because it was holiday in our culture and I ate too much sugar. Anyway I was in a lot of pain and fatigue for over 12 hours (painkillers don’t help). I couldn’t sleep from the pain but I couldn’t do any activity because of the fatigue so I was stuck. I drank some Green tea but mainly because I heard it helps with weight loss but I swear after 30 minutes I was asleep in bed and found myself with no pain when I woke up. 🤯 it did something. And interestingly enough usually I’m too hungry to fall asleep if I sleep without eating again but I hadn’t eaten dinner, just the tea, and I could still have a full night’s sleep. It seems to have so many benefits! Thank you so much for talking about this doctor!

Could you please explain why painkillers don’t help my adrenal fatigue chronic pain but exercise always does? Something gets released in my blood when I walk that immediately fixes it. And melatonin supplements increase the pain I get with the fatigue. It’s strange. I don’t know if I have too much cortisol or too little
