A Conversation About the State of Menopause + Aging | Routine Rundown Podcast | Well+Good

Every year, about 1.3 million people in the U.S. enter menopause— which, historically, has lacked the proper education, and been extremely stigmatized. Fashion consultant and founder of State of Menopause, Stacy London, is working to change that.
In this episode we discuss the need for menopause education for both men and women, the confusion consumers experience when seeking menopause related products and highlight the differences in generational approaches to beauty and aging.

HOST: Zoë Weiner, Senior Beauty Editor at Well+Good,
GUEST: Stacy London, Co-Founder and CEO of State of Menopause,

Do you have any videos on how to help with collagen in your skin and hair and bones and joints and do you have video content on gut health and having better focus and energy and how can I have better overall sleep at night? I also wanted to know how can I have a better overall healthy lifestyle and also how can I invest in wellness and having a healthy weight and healthy diet.

6:42-6:44: My body redistribution experience was incredibly disheartening. I had no idea what was happening. Thank goodness for YouTube, because as I was feeling overwhelmed, a vlog I watched a year or so before popped into my head. I was watching the vlogger based on their beauty content, but one day she mentioned menopause. As a matter of fact, she took some flack from viewers who said they didn’t want her to go off topic. I commented that she should make content that suited her and didn’t think twice about it. Until that day! That’s when I decided to go into fight mode: intermittent fasting, 2 meals daily (no snacks) and set a 10k step per day goal💪🏾
29:50: Shifting the narrative to Wellness, Self-Care. In my personal experience, that is what I am focusing on: what action do I need to take to be and feel strong? What foods/supplements will help me achieve my goal? What tools can I use to track, monitor and improve my well being?

Whoa, I have to stop at the “lotion/no wrinkles=lying”. If that is implying “they had work done” or injections and lying about it…. thstbis completely wrong. SpF, if done early enough and religiously enough can SIGNIFICANTLY change the way a person’s skin ages. I didn’t even use serums or fancy products at home. Bit in my late twenties started using SPF like a crazy person (way before it was copl)cool. I was the one greasy looking person in the photo of friends. 😆. And now 51 years old my friends are ticked because I am constantly mistaken for being in my low 30s, even once someone thought I was the daughter of a friend. And all I did was a ridiculous amount of SPF every day all day whether I was hanging out at the house or hiking or gardening. Only just now at 51 I have the hint if wrinkles around my eye when I smile and the very beginning of jowls (weight fluctuations didn’t help that). And I didn’t start “taking care of my skin ” until late 40s. SPF makes a MASSIVE difference if used correctly and early enough. (To be clear. Never had a single injection, or “work done”. Didn’t even have my 1st basic facial till almost 50). Also, I apologize right now for any typos…. I’m typing this without my glasses. 😆
