I don’t eat any plant-based foods—no fruits, vegetables, grains, or legumes. The idea is to focus on protein and fat while cutting out carbs completely. My insulin and glucose was so high, I was forced to join keto, carnivore, and keto-carnivore. My A1C was 16.1 and my resting glucose was 550. This explains why my lower blood pressure number wouldn’t drop below 98 after taking two blood pressure medicines.
I’m a trucker and it’s difficult to eat well on the road and sleep well consistently with every day being different with appt times, traffic jams, and wait times to load and unload. I was 305 lbs at my highest a few years ago but with testing out water fasting methods and intermittent fasting, I was able to get down to 250 lbs but was stuck and only my top BP number could reach normal levels with BP medications
After avoiding blood test due to hating needles, I gave in late 10/2024 and found out I was a diabetic. I immediately went to keto diet/carnivore diet and didn’t see any results but stayed on it knowing it may take 6 months to a year for results . I had a horrible diet for years and consuming lots of sodas daily, as much as 80 oz due to stress of the job.
I’ve finally kicked my bad eating habits and finally I broke the 240lb barrier today 1/10/25, started weight lifting again and walking 4500+ steps per day. Since I don’t drive trucks from January to early April, I’m going harder to reverse these numbers and become healthy again.
I can remember being in tip top shape my senior year of high school in 1996 at 175lbs benching over 315 lbs and maxing out 18 reps of 225lbs and deadlifting over 400lbs to barely benching 150lbs now lol. I’m going to visit a doctor to check my results but not the one I visited back in 10/24 that prescribed me to take Metformin and insulin. It didn’t make sense to take more Insulin if I already had high insulin and so knew Metformin had side effects. Thank God I was watching many of these YouTube Doctors, especially Dr Ekberg.
Instead of Metformin, I’m consuming Berberine twice a day before meals and now I’m keeping my carbs below 20 but consuming some broccoli or asparagus before my meals. Avocados, breakfast sausage, hamburger, bacon, pecans, and Rebel ice cream(lots of coconut oil and 1-3 carbs a serving)etc 1-2 meals a day has become my meal plan. I know my numbers have dropped because my weight is going down finally.
Don’t give up if you being doing keto or carnivore if you don’t see immediate results like others. If your A1C and glucose is very high, it’ll take longer to see results but stay consistent and you will finally break through to becoming healthy again.
