    Recently learnt to cut up & freeze my vegetables just before they’re about to go bad, then like you said put it in soups, or quesadillas, on pizzas, & in stirfrys! Saved so much food from being wasted like this. It’s nice when you’re lazy after a long day to have those pre cut ready-to-go vegetables. Love your channel by the way. Thanks for all you do ❤

      I’m just gotten into the habit of batch cooking. I make several servings of stuff while the ingredients are fresh and then freeze the leftovers. Then I just pull them out to thaw right before I eat. Nothing gets wasted and I never have to worry about cooking or running the store after work.

    I’ll say that any vegan can agree that avocados and nutritional yeast magically transform ANY meal! I love buying beans in bulk and whipping up a large batch of cooked pinto or black beans every week. And I wish more people knew about kabocha squash! It’s my favorite pumpkin of all time since it’s delicious and perfect for meal prep!

      Time will tell almond milk is my favorite but any of the nut milks can be substituted for the soy milk. Soy is cheaper but is now so tainted by GMO tampering, hormone disruptors & pesticides that it is no longer an option for me.

      @Josephine Winter nope, your not the only one. I cant eat NY, it makes me feel yucky on the inside and then make my pee stink (sry TMI) According to some resources, it pure MSG which I think everyone is addicted to it. I love subbing chickpea miso for it in nacho cheese recipes.

    Your bonus tip is so true. I revisit my WHY quite often. Being the only vegan in your household, or community can be really difficult. So it’s great to keep reminding yourself of your WHY.

      Yes, I’m just starting on my vegan journey and I live with family members who don’t eat at all like i’m now eating, it is challenging especially when you’re new to this lifestyle but like you said, reminding myself of the WHY helps…

      I was reminded of my ‘why’ when I went to see the doc after a 10% cheat diet… even that small % ruined my blood work. I’m not vegan, I’m WFPB, but I do enjoy the ancillary effect of not harming animals.

      Veganism is always a philosophy about animals where as Plant Based can be centered around Health or the Environment (which if it is for the Environmental for someone than fake/mock meats an their factories are not a good substitute) it was hard for me to stop eating meat at 9 years old but 13 I got my wish which meant I didn’t eat with my family a lot until it was just me and my mom an she still ate meat, but each year the more I understood about Veganism the more I switched from Vegetarian to Vegan, I’m almost 26 an I still am switching things in my Vegan diet for example when not eating out I want to get the most of my food with antioxidants, probiotics, (purple carrots instead of orange carrots, blue Adirondack potatos instead of white potatoes, Purple Yams and Purple Sweet potatos instead of Orange ones. The list goes on. I also eat flaxseeds, Chai Seeds, Hemp seeds with almost every meal and smoothie an I want to add pumpkin seeds to that for Zinc.

    I would like to add the easiest thing for me going vegan was getting an instant pot, I love to soak a package of pinto beans overnight and then cook them in the pot with a quart of vegetable broth onions and garlic and spices. So delicious and it last for many meals!

      @Jacki Brolhorst Cumin is a must. Paprika. Onion powder. Garlic powder. Oregano. Any chili/pepper powder blends. Cumin seeds. Fresh Cilantro. Dried rosemary carries the most flavor compared to other dried herbs.

    With vegan food, I feel like there is more variety than when I ate meat. I’ve learned about so many different vegetables and beans that I would never have discovered if I kept eating meat.

      Me and my channel are going plant based and I couldn’t feel better about it! I watched what the health documentary and went vegan overnight and haven’t looked back. It makes me so happy to recreate traditional meals using wholesome plant based options! Nutrition has always been my passion and I’ve finally found a direction I can run in!

      @blackishlovah123 I’m sad you went here a bit confused it seems, and got so picked on.
      You asked what’s the issue with meat.
      Here are the issueS:
      Animal protein has been associated and directly linked to higher risk of cancer death, and all-cause mortality (examplewise in the China Study)
      Your taste buds are not more important than an animal that suffered its whole life, just that humans could eat a piece of it.
      Animal products in general, but especially meats have an enormous environmental impact, being the leading causes of deforestation, water pollution, and land use, and emitting large amounts of greenhouse gasses like CO2
      I recommend that you watch a documentary called „Cowspiracy“, if you want to learn about climate change and animal agriculture.

    Meal planning has been super helpful for me, and Pinterest helped me to do that. My grocery bill was cut in half doing this, so being vegan has helped me save money. This, of course, only helps if you stick to the meal plan. That way, you don’t waste food, which means you aren’t wasting money.

    Another thing I can suggest is to save your veg scraps and make veg broth with them. What’s kind of cool about this is that it will taste differently every time you make it. I will say this though: if you like the way it tastes a certain time, take note of what you used!

    To add on to tip #1 if you don’t have a foamer like in your video you can use a mason jar. Every morning I but my coffee and almond milk in a mason jar and shake it up. It creates amazing foam! And you don’t need to go buy another appliance 😊

    When I first went vegetarian in my teens I felt like my meals were always missing something taste wise and I was always hungry. (I just took meat out of my meals my family prepared for me and was left with nothing) I gave up after a few years and I was severely underweight and often blacking out. I was omitted to hospital. I returned to healthy weight after going back to meat and a “healthy” diet. Recently I had major skin problems and was told to cut out dairy, so I began researching vegan cheese substitutes (since I can’t cut out cheese!) and I found this channel, did a little more research on animal farming and decided I wanted to go vegan. I was having the same issues with my meals missing something and being hungry at first, but I’ve been watching a lot of your videos and I’ve learned so much about other health foods I’ve never heard of and how to prepare vegan meals. I’ve learned personally, I need at least one meal a day with whole grains- also adding eggplant, mushroom, tofu , beans, potato or sweet potato to a meal in replacement of meat is key to killing that that “missing something” feeling. I’m eating more vegetables than I have ever done so in my life and I feel great! 🙂 thank you so much for making this incredible channel! It has changed my life because I’ve always wanted to go cruelty free but I have a very fast metabolism and couldn’t have figured out how to keep it going without you!

      Elle r, I know this reply is two years late, but for the benefit of others that are in your situation, I’d like to comment. You must eat complex carbohydrates with your vegetables. This is discussed by John McDougall, MD, in his book “ The Starch Solution” and other whole food plant based doctors and nutrition experts. Complex carbohydrates are potatoes, sweet potatoes, yams, rice, whole grains, beans, corn, and legumes. Dr. McDougall suggests a 50/50 plate, half vegetables and half complex carbohydrates. This does not include simple carbohydrates like cakes cookies, milk, candy, potato chips, fries—you know junk. Carbs are our friend, it will not make you fat nor increase your blood sugar, it’s the junk we put on complex carbs that messes up our body, i.e., sugar, oil, salt, preservatives, and synthetic foods. I also suggest checking out the YouTube channel Chef AJ, she is a vegan chef who cooks salt, oil, sugar, and flour free. She had a weight problem, although vegan (called herself a junk food vegan), but learned about how to eat a healthy vegan diet. Me? I just started a month in a half ago, and I don’t get hungry because I eat starch with my meals. I’m surprised how easy the transition has been, but it’s the carbs that helps me feel full, satisfied, and not deprived.

    my vegan hack- fried rice! having a nice basmati/jasmine rice made can last up to 5 days in the fridge , and you can change it up almost everyday by adding something different and frying it. Black beans,chopped tomatoes and veggies, sprouts,greens, vegan cheeses…..there is no end! good for people with limited time.

    I’m having a difficult time sticking to a vegan diet in Japan. Things such as legumes and quinoa are extremely expensive here. Veggies and fruit can be pricey as well, so we are trying to start a small garden. Lovely videos btw!

      I wonder if you can find out what they are eating in the local Buddhist monasteries? I don’t know if all their food is donated, but learning what they are eating might help you learn local vegan dishes.

      If you can’t find quinoa I’m wondering if you can substitute brown rice. If you can get black (forbidden) rice it is the most nutritious rice. Also look for adzuki beans. And natto! – fermented soy beans. Stay Vegan 🌱💚

      Try Kaldi. Or C’est ci Bon. Kaldi is easy to find. They have Italian beans and lentils in cans. Also Italian tomatoes, corn and Campbell’s Soup, which, shockingly, is the way to get corn chowder and pumpkin soup with chicken in it, if you can’t made either from scratch. Sometimes my local Tobu/Tokyu store will have dry beans., especially in winter. I have seen quinoa there, too, but while I like the taste of quinoa, I don’t like the way it looks, so I eat rice. Good rice here, of course. 5 grades of milling. I usually get “beige.”. C’est ci Bon is harder to find (there’s one in the Meiji Jingu Mai Metro station) but they have interesting things, too. I order oatmeal from Amazon.jp — cheaper. I don’t much care for nutritional yeast, but I use small amounts in three recipes. I have obtained that from iHerb. If you live in a Gaijin Ghetto, you will find overpriced veg. ingredients at the VERY high priced stores in the area. I live in a non-gaijin residential area within the 23 wards. I find produce can be pricey, but it’s excellent and I waste nothing. I have three dedicated produce vendors I can walk to, plus the regular stores. Good luck.

      @Holly Webster Look for Shojin Ryori recipes on line. But BEWARE. Many places and courses that advertise “shojin ryori” cuisine use fish stock. To make veg dashi, simmer a 6″ piece of kelp in a liter of water for 20 minutes, and there you go. Just don’t add the fish flakes. You can ALSO buy instant kombu (kelp) dashi, for people who want to add their own fish flakes. I have found this readily available.

    You are just so very beautiful inside and out! I have been vegan for 7 years and am heslthier than ever at 79. No meds! But I did have to cut out all processed foods such as Oreos and fake meats and cheeses. Whole foods and no added oils did it for me! Carry on and continue making wonderful videos, books, and recipes! ❤️❤️👍👍

      You’re right! She is a great person inside and out. You are too as it shows in your generous expression. I will be 71 in Dec and have been 100% vegan (whole food) with very minimal refined foods for almost 10 years. I am very active with perfect health. I am glad we all took one of the most important decisions in our lives. I wish others will be enlightened before it is too late.

      @saraa x I’m no expert, but from what I’ve picked up, you should take a B12 supplement, combine vitamin c (which is in many fruits, especially citrus ones, berries, cantaloupe, and mango) with iron (in dark green vegetables and legumes, and tofu) to get more iron. good calcium sources are dark green vegetables, figs, and almonds. and its pretty easy to get enough protein. try to eat a wide variety of protiens such as nuts, seeds, tofu, tempeh, edemame, legumes, and whole grains to get all 8 amino acids (I’m pretty sure that they’re what helps u absorb protein). and to get omega-3s some good foods are hemp seeds, chia seeds, ground flax seeds (its best to grind them yourself, as this video said), and dark grren leafy vegetables. sorry this is a year after u posted btw. some good information is in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Uut8vNBfdk

    I love tip 8 especial when coming from meat n potatoes type a thing. I am slowly transitioning to vegan and having a hard time transitioning completely yet your tips inspired me and were easy to follow. any ideas of a vegan grocery list for the week, would love any comments and advices. btw you gotta try the colyflower crust pizza from costco super delish, any ways thanks for a great video and your tips defenetaly will follow.
