I read in neurologist Dr Russell Blaylog’s book that low cholesterol is associated with leukemia.

    • Cyberfunk on December 19, 2022 at 12:13 pm

Yes and other cancers and even heart attacks, because when people are dying, their cholesterol often drops because of the serious disease. It’s not the low cholesterol causing it, but the other way around.

    • J M on December 19, 2022 at 1:28 pm

@Cyberfunk Exactly. If you’re dying your appetite drops right off, you eat a lot less, and your cholesterol falls. You’re not dying from low cholesterol – your low cholesterol is simply a result of eating a lot less as you are dying.

Thanks Dr Berg another informative video. Fascinating you mention correlation between cholesterol and vit D levels. What does it mean if there is vit D deficiency/insufficiency and total cholesterol, non HDL cholesterol, LDL cholesterol borderline high plus CHOL/HDL ratio below reference range?
What does it mean cholesterol is high but vit D levels low for a 70+ aged person? 🤔

    • Barka Dog on December 19, 2022 at 12:14 pm

Probably means that the time has come.

    • Vidhyut Kargutkar on December 19, 2022 at 12:17 pm

      @Barka Dog for what?

  4. Kiril Kerinkov on December 19, 2022 at 11:53 am

Thank you for the video Dr. Berg. Is animal based diet + fruits working well against low cholesterol? I am doing it for a few months + 20/4 intermittent fasting and I feel pretty good to be honest

    • An Equal on December 19, 2022 at 12:10 pm

It should be because all animal food has cholesterol

    • Cyberfunk on December 19, 2022 at 12:12 pm

Low cholesterol isn’t causing the disease, the diseases are causing the low LDL in some cases so this video is pretty much totally baseless. People with genetically low LDL don’t have any more cancers and people that have low LDL in general have less athrescloris. The body can make all the cholesterol it needs, why anybody would need to intentionally raise their levels unless they have some very specific disease and their doctor advices them to.

  5. Becca on December 19, 2022 at 11:55 am

This is why I never worried too much about high cholesterol, because I know there’s good cholesterol too. I’m working on the one meal a day plan and already seeing a difference.

  6. Italian Lifestyle on December 19, 2022 at 12:04 pm

It’s the first time I hear about the dangers of low cholesterol but it’s no wonder since in my family everything we’ve worried about was high cholesterol. I have no idea how someone could even get such low levels of cholesterol these days🧐

    • Hilman Faiz on December 19, 2022 at 2:16 pm

there are several cholesterol, and in this video Dr. Eric is talking specifically about one type, which is LDL that is dangerous when it’s too low.

Just saying this since triglyceride generally needs to be low (measured after >10 hours of fasting)

    • Derp Patrol on December 19, 2022 at 3:27 pm

There is no danger as the body makes all it needs by itself. This videos is rubbish, it’s the serious disease in terminal phases and even heart attacks that lower LDL because the person is dying, not the low LDL causing the disease. People with genetically low LDL don’t have higher risk of cancer proving it’s not the cause.

    • Cyberfunk on December 19, 2022 at 3:40 pm

@Mikekkk What are you talking about?? ApoB is the indicator most direcly linked with heart disease risk and LDL correlated with that in 75% of people. The link between LDL and heart disease is established and causal.

“Low-density lipoproteins cause atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease. 1. Evidence from genetic, epidemiologic, and clinical studies. A consensus statement from the European Atherosclerosis Society Consensus Panel”

“Conclusion: Consistent evidence from numerous and multiple different types of clinical and genetic studies unequivocally establishes that LDL causes ASCVD.”

    • Cyberfunk on December 19, 2022 at 3:41 pm

@Mikekkk And the size and “only oxidized” particles matters is total conspiracy theory. All the LDL particles are small enough to get into the artery wall so there is no “safe fluffy” version of it in any person.

    • Italian Lifestyle on December 19, 2022 at 4:21 pm

      @Mikekkk Good to know..

  7. L M on December 19, 2022 at 12:07 pm

Thanks Dr Berg. Once again, showing that if it’s part of the mainstream advice, the opposite is invariably true.

Well this is what I have learned too… and tried to convey to my father. But his doctors insisted he had a Statin deficiency, not a nutritional deficiency. Well between 2011 and now… He had heart surgery (calcified arteries)…. and now he is in a nursing home.. 4 broken bones in his back, degenerative…. and they are talking about testing for cancer. He made sure he kept his cholesterol low. He is in bad shape. I’d say this program didn’t do him any good. He has also lost cognitive and motor skills over time and is approaching if not already into dimensia. So, DR Berg is on point. Thanks as always Dr Berg! Maybe someone out there will listen and learn!

      Absolutely agree

  11. Jeffrey Johnson on December 19, 2022 at 12:46 pm

I’ve been following Dr. Berg for years, but I disagree with him, and many in the low carb community, on cholesterol. High LDL cholesterol is a problem. Actually, it’s not the cholesterol itself, it’s the low density lipoproteins that carry it. They also carry triglycerides, which is why high triglycerides are a problem. If you have too many of these flowing through your bloodstream, a certain number of them will get lodged in your artery walls. That’s what plaque is, and that’s what causes cardio vascular disease. LDL cholesterol is an indirect measure of the particles, and about 75% accurate. To be sure what your level is, everyone should get an ApoB test, which measures the LDL lipoproteins directly. If they are too high, you’re at an increased risk of dying. Saturated fats above ten percent of calories raises them, which is why the guidelines say to keep it below that.

Amazing another great master class. Thanks Dr. Berg. Question, can you do a video on hyperparathyroidism?

  14. DP LG on December 19, 2022 at 2:54 pm

Thanks Dr Berg. It would be very interesting if you could explain the process that causes cataracts as a result of low LDL.

  15. Kanthanit NOK on December 19, 2022 at 2:54 pm

I watch all these videos about keto and carnivore. Dr. Berg stands out by getting to the point. Each video is packed with useful information. By comparison, some of the others are so chatty and time-wasting.

  16. James Marcos on December 19, 2022 at 3:38 pm

This is very helpful for me. I keep getting Low LDL on my blood tests. I actually thought it was a good thing until I see this one. Thank you so much for this, Dr. Berg. Can you also do a video on how to lessen/eliminate eyebags? And what potential causes does my left abdomen hurt? Thank you again.

    • Be You on December 19, 2022 at 5:56 pm

I think I heard eyebags have something to do with maybe liver or kidney problems, not enough sleep. My best advice after finding your root cause first of course, is sleep better, make sure you breathe good I had this because of asthma, and add vitamin e oil around eyes. Extra tip vitamin e oil with yogurt and honey mixed together is like Botox for the face. If done few times a week after shower when the pores are open. 30min than rinse ..cold water to close the pores.

  17. Robert Mullen on December 19, 2022 at 3:54 pm

Hi Dr. Berg, there is a video on youtube that was done by an MD, I think his name is Egbert, not positive. He shows the origin of our AMA’s research into the reasons they advise low Cholesterol over high Cholesterol. They used a Korean study on Cholesterol levels and death rates and his surprising evidence showed that low Cholesterol was more lethal than high Cholesterol. If that is the case the American Medical Association is using Cholesterol as a means of population control. We are actually paying these medical professionals to poison ourselves by reducing our Cholesterol levels into the lethal zone.

  18. Robert Olsen on December 19, 2022 at 4:15 pm

I know of a lot of people who nicely retired in their 60’s. Their doctor put them on medication for high cholesterol. Within 5 years they developed serious dementia. Apparently when you take those medications, I have read studies that said, the medication gets rid of good and bad cholesterol.Healthy brain function relies on cholesterol.

  19. BlazingGazelle on December 19, 2022 at 5:25 pm

This intellectual disability thing is complicated. I’ve never been able to figure out why I’m so dumb but now I know why. For years all my ex-wives have stated I’m a buffoon and I never understood but thanks to Dr. Berg I’ve solved the puzzle.

  20. S N N on December 19, 2022 at 7:09 pm
