Very good review! I wish I could educate people at work about sugar dangers. On the home front, I have a family member who has dropped most sugar but for fructose (sigh) in the form of peaches and apples (am working on it). Thanks to so-far sugar reduction, though, their skin where it was formerly darker, rougher, and itchier, is now lighter, clear, smooth, and without itchiness. I emphasize that improvement to them in the hope it sinks in that all forms of sugar are challenging to the body. Thank you for this, you’re saving lives Dr. Ekberg!

    • @shirleyharvey7376 on January 5, 2024 at 9:10 pm

Just before I watched this, I ate 1 cup of frozen unsweetened peaches. I just looked and that 1 cup has 17g sugar….yikes!!! They’re going in the trash.

Used to consume a lot of sugar until I became prediabetic. Now that I’ve greatly reduced my sugar intake, it’s amazing how quickly I get aches and pains in my knees, hips and lower back when I occasionally indulge. Good thing is, these symptoms subside after a few days of cleaner food and time-restricted eating.

The “getting started as kids” is very true. I drank Kool-aid as a baby, so sugar is the hardest addiction for me to kick. The only thing allowing me to not eat it (over a year now!) is that sugar tends to piggyback with soy. Unless I add it myself (or make desserts), I can’t eat most sugary things so it’s sorta easy to not eat sugar. Going carnivore definitely helped re: fruits too. lol

Man, this is really interesting to watch. For a period of time I would eat sugary foods mostly whenever. Not really taking into account much how much I was having. Having some soda, having a dessert later on in the day. But after ive been watching my sugar intake for 6 months and limiting it below 36 grams at most, but usually around the 25g mark, the difference is insane. I used to get some sugar cravings at night, strong urge that I had to put away and which concerned me, i dont have those any more at all.

I still have sugar, about like.. every other day in some form, but it never goes above the suggested daily intake. If i have a soda, i only have half of it because a single one goes far above. And if i have a less sweet cereal with some milk, im basically not eating much sugar at all for the rest of the day. My sugar cravings are gone and replaced with hunger to eat actual food instead (the ice cream i’d eat every other day goes uneaten in the freezer and forgotten), the random aches and paints i’d get randomly and commonly are gone, those breakouts have been like.. maybe I’ve had 1? When they used to be common. I don’t feel bloated, and ive been losing or at a stable weight.

Additionally, i always felt TIRED. Tired randomly, bursts of energy, wanting to stay in bed tired and exhausted, burst of energy but now i have energy at appropriate times throughout the day and get tired when i should.

Please, anyone having above the suggested limit, you can keep having sugar as far as I can tell.. but limit yourself. It’ll make your life way better and you won’t even have to give up your tasty foods. It’ll just make you appreciate them when you have them more.

As being a past semi-pro/pro endurance athlete (cyclist), having a background in the medical field, and doing manual labor almost every day…even while still being in “great shape” I can really start to sense changes in the body…they are subtle. Subtle, or not, while being as a whole, the changes are absolutely relentless! THIS is pretty scary especially after seeing this episode! I will venture to say that this probably one you absolute best Dr. Sten Ekberg! Mosly because this presentation can hit home to most anyone who actually takes the time to listen. Realize that THIS is critical information that can probably change every aspect of your life…not many get to experience what it feels like to be at the very top your game. Simply put, it is a feeling this is out of this world. I have a feeling that for many if they take all this to heart…the differences felt between “now vs. later” would also be a feeling “out of this world.” Thank you Dr. Ekberg for truly opening my eyes.

  20. @starbuck2100 on January 5, 2024 at 8:12 pm

Fabulous presentation, far reaching, deep diving, but accessibly so! I know critics might ask for links to references, and certainly this could be a further added value for newcomers, but having encountered the sources elsewhere I know the material holds up. However it is amazing to find such information density, with concise explanations of many concepts delivered in a small amount of time. Well done, and thank you!
