I wish the mineral supplement didn’t have stevia in it. I hate the taste of stevia. No need for sweeteners. Hard to find a mineral supplement that don’t have any sweetener in it, so I have been trying to make my own, but hard to get all the main minerals together, in the right form, without being super expensive and needing a lot of space for them all.

    • Violet Fem on September 22, 2023 at 12:47 pm

@shawn sullivan I love stevia, they’re not all created equal. This is actually a better priced electrolyte than others people offer on their channels. I saw one earlier that was $45 per month. Who can afford that.
I’ll toss pink salt in plain water before I spend that amount 😡

    • Dee Post on September 22, 2023 at 1:37 pm

I’ve been having hair analysis done for two years. What I’ve learned is the importance of having the ratios in balance. They work in teams. Ca/P, Na/K, Ca/k, Zn/Cu, Na/Mg, Ca/mg, Fe/Cu These ratios affect metabolism.

Yeesh I have 5 of these and thankfully my immunity’s good & no headaches – I already know I don’t drink enough & since we switched to soft water (using salt crystals), I’m concerned about how much pink salt I should be using.

I have erosive gastritis I only use little salt

    • AllHim Withme on September 22, 2023 at 11:36 am

@Fe Rose Marie Hass _Whole_ salt (not stripped table salt which is garbage) does not cause problems. Celtic Sea Salt, Himalayan, Redmonds…etc. The studies that “proved” salt is bad were done with table salt which is simply NaCl without the natural constituents that are designed to go with it.

For years now I’ve stayed away from salt to avoid high blood pressure. Yet, I’ve had 75% of these signs. Thank You, Doc I wish you were around when I was in HS most people would’ve been in better shape. 🙏

    • brother NORB on September 22, 2023 at 2:25 pm

Yeah, back in the day we had to actually read books and travel to health seminars to know this stuff

  4. Sal Lazuka on September 22, 2023 at 10:52 am

Before watching this video I only took your euLyte Electrolyte product only when I fasted multiple days. I now understand that I should be taking it daily. The part where you mention synthetic fertilizers makes total sense. Thanks for the education Dr. Ekberg. ❤

    • Bob thebomb on September 22, 2023 at 11:28 am

Perhaps there is a market opportunity for a fertiliser manufacturer who included minerals and trace elements in their products?

    • Dr. Sten Ekberg on September 22, 2023 at 11:53 am

Thank you @SalLazuka. I’m glad to hear it. 😄

  5. Curtis Beers on September 22, 2023 at 11:25 am

We have laws regulating white powders but they don’t do anything about the most dangerous one of all. Sugar.

    • Dr. Sten Ekberg on September 22, 2023 at 12:17 pm

      Thank you @curtisbeers9383. Exactly 😄

    • belgianbrian on September 23, 2023 at 12:20 pm

“don’t do anything about the most dangerous one of all. Sugar.” Well, that might be because the food processing industry ( in the West ) make a lot of money selling it 😂

  6. Tyler Beck on September 22, 2023 at 11:31 am

Nice work! The theory on migraines makes perfect sense! You’ve got me pretty close to convinced that I should take that bloodwork course.

  7. angelfriend on September 22, 2023 at 11:47 am

    • AK banana chucker on September 22, 2023 at 10:57 pm

@Dr. Sten Ekberg Dr. Ekbert I bought your electrolytes and they worked well at first but I noticed that they make me tired for exercise. Must be the magnesium. Would you consider making another one for those that need a ton of energy just to get going please? I’m drinking like 5 cups of tea concentrated down to half a cup mixed with 1 1/2 cups of milk for energy but it gets me just enough energy. I do this to avoid pre-workouts and coffee because i think I has to be healthier. Plus pre-workouts powders taste nasty to me. Especially the ones with diet sugar. Oh p.s. please make one without the diet sugar. Thanks so much.

    • V T on September 22, 2023 at 11:05 pm

@AK banana chucker what are you talking about? I have his electrolyte product and don’t see the diet sugar.

    • AK banana chucker on September 22, 2023 at 11:50 pm

@V T it says it in the other ingredients list, stevia leaf extract.

  8. Lawrence Stovall on September 22, 2023 at 1:05 pm

Thank you Dr Ekberg for the presentation on minerals. One of the most important minerals in my opinion is potassium, yet it difficult to understand how one would get 4700 mg from food without eating a ton of bananas which would be too much sugar. I live in Europe and can supplement with high doses. In the US I see doses of 99 mg of potassium in a single pill. Since the connection between sodium and potassium is so important why is the dose so low in the US. My electrolytes mix contain 1400 mg of potassium which I take before I workout. Just never understood the 99 mg dose for Potassium.

    • Green Eggs and Spam on September 22, 2023 at 2:31 pm

Coconut water is high in potassium.

    • Alison Merrell on September 22, 2023 at 2:56 pm

Way better food with potassium then banana 🍌 I would do a search on here…Avocados have a good amount and so does chia seeds ❤

    • Vlatko Đikić on September 22, 2023 at 5:46 pm

Now Foods offers both Potassium Citrate and Potassium Chloride supplements in powder form. The Citrate form is generally easier to consume due to its neutral taste, whereas the Chloride form has a taste reminiscent of salt. However, Potassium Chloride has a higher concentration of elemental potassium, approximately 50%, compared to the citrate form, which contains around 33% (I believe my information is correct; however, verification would be wise.)

This means that to obtain 4700mg of elemental potassium, one would need to consume 9400mg of Potassium Chloride or 14200mg of Potassium Citrate. However, it’s important to note that we also obtain some amount of potassium through the foods we eat, and thus the intake of these supplements should be adjusted accordingly.

For endurance athletes, the requirement for potassium may be significantly higher due to their rigorous physical activities. Therefore, consulting a healthcare or a nutritional expert to determine the precise dosage based on individual needs and dietary intake is always recommended.

1400mg wow which brand is this? The highest one I buy is 1000mg.

Terrific summation! I’m planning to sign up for your bloodwork course as soon as I have enough free cash. I am SO grateful you offer the complete blood work testing; I had my blood draw this morning and am excited to see how well I’m doing as your follower for nearly 2 years. Your teaching style and clear explanations are simply wonderful, we are blessed that you take the time to share your knowledge.

I love how you deep-dive topics, in a concise & methodical manner, using plain English science, Dr. Sten. I have informed many that your deep-dive video on cholesterol is easily the best on Youtube, including my doctor & naturopath. I can now add this one to that list. 👍

Dr. Eckberg, thank you for all this information. I do have a question, my wife takes magnesium glycinate to help her with her constant muscle cramps…would it cause any problems for her to take your electrolyte powder with the magnesium citrate alongside a magnesium glycinate? She also doesn’t suffer from constipation, so would taking your electrolyte powder be an issue? Thank you in advance.

  15. Marge Ling on September 23, 2023 at 1:35 am

Thank you so much for all the concise, clear and informative videos you present. I am a fairly recent subscriber and am so glad I found you. Electrolytes were a huge topic this last week at a lawn bowling tournament where I am a member. This video answered so many questions that I had.

The dark background is comfortable for my eyes and your soothing talking is same for my ears ! So I can always enjoy your videos in the evening after a stressful day of work, to remind myself how my health is more important than any other things and how much I have to do to take care of my body..
Thank you so much for all the efforts you put in these videos 🙏

I’ve been told in other videos (in the Low Carb-Keto community) that B1 is good for numbness and tingles too; I had it bad back before I started Keto/Fasting. I learned about it several months later in the journey (whilst losing weight); started taking B1(as Benfotiamine) with great success (was already getting enough potassium. magnesium, salt). Topical liquid ionic magnesium immediately relieves with my rare cramps if mess-up and don’t get enough salt/magnesium – I work in the heat outdoors.

Very good explanation about soil depletion. Goes in line with Michael Pollan’s In defence of food. Hats off to your work doc

  19. Ntombi Cumalo on September 25, 2023 at 7:07 pm

This is helpful information Dr. Ekberg. As a woman I had a lot of deficiency, I mean starting with Iron (due to anemia) and then Magnesium, Boron, etc. Most of the time I had headaches, nausea, fatigue and very low blood pressure. I collapsed two times due to the low blood pressure. I started taking supplements after consulting a doctor and all the blood work, and all that suffering vanished.

This Doctor needs to be cloned and put into EVERY medical school to re-educate doctors with correct information about HEALTH. He is brilliant, and a gem of a person to anyone with common sense about how to improve their health in a sustained way. I just love learning from his simple to understand videos … I respect this man immensely 😊👍
