Learn more about magnesium, an essential cofactor to vitamin D, here:

Dr. Coimbra of Brazil is a pioneer in vitamin D research and developed the Coimbra Protocol, in which he treats his patients with high doses of vitamin D. This protocol has been very successful in resolving autoimmune conditions, with some of his patients taking up to 200,000 IU of vitamin D daily!

Vitamin D deficiency is not always easy to detect. Blood tests do not reflect what's going on deeper in your cells.

Taking too much vitamin D can be dangerous if you have hypercalcemia, or too much calcium in the blood. This can lead to kidney stones.

A lack of vitamin D is also dangerous! If you’re deficient in vitamin D, you are more susceptible to autoimmune diseases, which is currently the world’s largest health problem.

Vitamin D is involved in over 2500 genes and is intimately involved in every part of your immune system. You need a maintenance dose of 8,000 to 10,000 IU of vitamin D daily for healthy immune function.

Many people can not get adequate vitamin D from the sun or their food. Genetic factors can contribute to vitamin D resistance. Low magnesium, zinc, and vitamin K2 can also inhibit the absorption of vitamin D. Certain viruses downgrade vitamin D receptors, weakening your immune function. Our RDAs are also far too low.

There are several ways to maximize vitamin D benefits while also preventing adverse vitamin D side effects. Take the cofactors magnesium, zinc, and vitamin K2 with vitamin D. Limit your calcium intake, especially when taking a high dose of vitamin D. You can also increase fluid intake to 2.5 liters per day to prevent kidney stones.

My VA doctor B rates me every time I see him to stop taking vitamin D. I even lied to him and say I’m only taking 5000 IU per day (when I’m actually taking 15,000 IU/day) and he accuses me of believing conspiracy theories.

He was so mad that he ran a vitamin D level along with other labs and my vitamin D came back low-normal. That was taking 15,000 sometimes 25,000 IU per day and I was “low normal” But he didn’t focus on the “low” he focused on the “normal” claimed he was right that I didn’t need vitamin D supplementation because my vitamin D was ”normal”
(I’m 80% service connected. Unfortunately, I don’t have a choice in which doctor I’m assigned to. If I raise a big stink, they’ll just passive aggressively assigned me to someone even worse.

    • @vict0ree on July 26, 2025 at 10:32 am

    • @donnaanderson9530 on July 26, 2025 at 10:57 am

    • @youareworthalot1228 on July 26, 2025 at 11:10 am

So sad they don’t know the truth. Unless they lie on purpose. They are probably not lying on purpose, but are just brainwashed probably. They seem to be brainwashed in medical school to believe the wrong thing.

    • @livebetter397 on July 26, 2025 at 12:30 pm

💯 VITAMIN D is KING and they know it but It interferes with 💊 so a person has to make the decision to wean themselves off without their doctors okay

    • @LucieSalat on July 26, 2025 at 2:09 pm

livebetter397 wean themselves off meds without a doctor? The best way is to go through a doctor trained in the Coimbra Protocol. There is a link in the description. If there isn’t one in your region, you may be able to arrange telehealth appointments and see your regular doctor for any screening or tests that the Coimbra practitioner requires.

  10. @StrongerWithTime1 on July 26, 2025 at 10:46 am

Does this mean that even people with ‘normal’ vitamin D levels on labs could still be functionally deficient at the cellular level? That’s honestly kind of scary — and super important to know

    • @kathysavage2548 on July 26, 2025 at 1:19 pm

      Yes.

    • @08turboSS on July 26, 2025 at 2:53 pm

Everyone should look for getting to optimal range, not normal because normal can be low/defficient in many cases.

Went to Thailand for one month my skin issues faded away. Left all my vitamins at home which were Zinc liquid, D3/K2 liquid, algae omega oils, B12 & Magnesium glycinate- no oxides of any kind. In Thailand No work stress, getting more rest, regular sunlight, walking a lot, sweating, no hot showers because no hot water, eating rice, rice soups with some meats/veggies, green vegetables, assortment of fruits, fish and egg. After one month of being back in the US the spots are re -appearing.
