Thank you for all the effort in this video Dr Ekberg! It’s amazing that I was so ignorant about the kidneys, especially the role of the kidneys. It really helps that you spend so much time explaining it, so thank you, and hope you have an awesome Friday!

Thank you @angelfriend3710 for letting me know. I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching.😄

Funny but strong analogy of dirty floor. Epic comparison. I really enjoy and learn lot from your live blood work course. Every week waiting for the session eagerly as i wait for the yourube video. Learning lot lot about health and prevention. Thank you so much Dr Ekberg for your noble efforts

Love the dirty floor analogy Dr. Ekberg! Question, I get up between 1 or 2 times a night to go pee. Mostly once a night. BTW, I’m a 67 year old guy. On a side note, I’m thoroughly enjoying your blood work course and highly recommend it to your viewers. It’s unbelievable how much I’m getting out of it. Thank you.

    • Dr. Sten Ekberg on January 20, 2023 at 12:48 pm

Thank you @SalLazuka. Getting up to pee can be many things. It does tend to increase with age. We’ll take a look when you come see me. Thankyou sharing and letting me know about the blood work course. I really appreciate the feedback. Thanks for watching.😄

    • gman77gas on January 20, 2023 at 3:00 pm

66 and I do the same. But I sip water through the night.

    • Sal Lazuka on January 20, 2023 at 5:31 pm

@Dr. Sten Ekberg Thanks for the response. I do drink a glass of water before going to bed. I’m going stop doing that and see what happens. Maybe it’s as simple as that. :>)

  5. Vi Za on January 20, 2023 at 11:49 am

I LOVE your “dirty floors” analogy!😂And NOW, I “get” it. Also, I finally understand, much better, insulin resistance vs insulin sensitivity. Your ability to explain complex medical issues to those of us who are not medical professionals is, and will continue to be, legendary! I also got a good laugh, as well as took good notice, to your mention of someone with “a very similar name.”😌 While I still go there occasionally, YOU are my authoritative and trusted source. Thank you, again.🙏❤🌹

  6. Nan215 on January 20, 2023 at 11:50 am

I had an appointment with my doctor yesterday and she told me that I have kidney disease. Several months ago I told her I had frothy urine and she didn’t seem concerned. Plus my b/p is very high. She didn’t say anymore about my kidneys. She added two more b/p meds. I have to find a doctor who is concerned about their patients.

    • Nan215 on January 20, 2023 at 12:58 pm

@CDI’m not blaming my doctor but some doctors don’t pay attention to their senior patients. And I do research but some symptoms are the same so it’s best I see a doctor who has experience.

    • Ciaran Murphy on January 20, 2023 at 1:11 pm

@CD I think Nan215 is trying to learn about his/her health, and that is the first step to helping your own cause. From what he/she said, it appears his/her doctor didn’t try to help address the root cause. Not blaming the doctor, because that type of care is what most people expect. Many people think their health problems are inevitable and want a quick pill or procedure to fix it. Most doctors have adapted to customer demand.

    • AllHim Withme on January 20, 2023 at 1:56 pm

@CD If it were that simple we wouldn’t benefit so much from Dr. Ekberg. Judging each other for not taking the bull by the horns, in _your_ estimation, isn’t beneficial. Every here is learning…that’s why we’re here.

    • Cherie Brantner on January 20, 2023 at 2:47 pm

Doctors, unfortunately, don’t stay current other than what the pharmaceutical industry tells them. Prescribing makes money. Changing your diet following the pyramid scheme is not a healthy choice. Dietitians are not necessarily up to date on research either. It’s pretty much up to us to do our research. I changed my diet and improved ALL my numbers, tested by my doc and she didn’t want to know how I did it!! My doctor quit a few months later 😮.

    • Tom Sanderson on January 20, 2023 at 3:02 pm

@Dr. Sten Ekberg would you describe foamy uren and what smell is associated with the health of the kidneys.

  7. Michael J. Loudis on January 20, 2023 at 11:52 am

Dr. Ekberg is a brilliant communicator, reducing very complex subject matter to a presentation where even an otherwise ignorant layman can easily grasp the concepts and physiologic processes at hand. I would like to know if his superb lecturing skills came from being an undergraduate Human A & P professor/instructor for a decade or two.

    • Dr. Sten Ekberg on January 20, 2023 at 1:00 pm

Thank you @rangerbud. I never taught outside of my clinic or YouTube, but ever since starting chiropractic school and unraveling the magic and the miracle of the human body, I’ve been obsessed with explaining it to others. 😄

    • AllHim Withme on January 20, 2023 at 1:53 pm

A gift like his can’t be taught; it’s inborn and developed. So thankful for his using it to teach us, the gift that multiplies millions of times over!

  8. Claire Hachey on January 20, 2023 at 12:22 pm

My eldest sister worked as a nephrology RN. She was fascinated by the many functions of the kidney, so well explained here. Thank you Dr Ekberg for your efforts in helping us better understand the pathologies which can afflict us. Much respect to you

    • Dr. Sten Ekberg on January 20, 2023 at 1:16 pm

You are welcome @clairehachey2189. Thanks for your feedback and for watching. 😄

  9. Dina Pawlow on January 20, 2023 at 12:30 pm

Dr Fung, a nephrologist who opened my eyes to insulin, also explains this subject very well.

  10. Laz Arus on January 20, 2023 at 1:02 pm

G’day Sten. Here’s my little tale. 14 weeks ago, following a routine blood test, my doc told me I had tipped over into Type 2 diabetes. That was the reality check I needed to do something about my long-standing weight gain. 14 weeks later I have gone from 100Kg down to 81.5Kg and am feeling fantastic. That is an average of 1.3 kg loss per week. Your guidance has been paramount to my change. Aiming for 70 kg, which I gather is in the ballpark for a male at 5′ 6″. I’m sure I will achieve that target.

For those reading who have doubts about the best way to lose weight, follow Dr. Ekberg’s teachings. I can vouch for myself that they work. 👍

    • Doctor Nate on January 20, 2023 at 4:00 pm

Amazing !! How’d you do it? Calorie deficit?

    • Maxine Adderley on January 20, 2023 at 4:50 pm

I am going to presume that IF was a part of the journey 🤔

  11. mcdianer on January 20, 2023 at 1:22 pm

I like your analogy using dirty floors. I think that is how the medical industry works in general.

When I do my yearly physical, the doctor is amazed how healthy I am. I take no medication at the age of 66.

  12. Harold Mack on January 20, 2023 at 1:31 pm

I have been on keto for about 15 months now and I just recently got blood work done and they used something called LP-IR to measure insulin resistance. My score was 35, which appears to be favorable as over 45 is starting to be insulin resistant, so that is good!

Bad news is that my LDL-c has been rising and is now up to 204. Small ldl is 720 mmol and size is 20.5

But overall my health appears to be moving in the right direction

    • Doctor Nate on January 20, 2023 at 4:20 pm

Awesome!! DW, you’re doing great 🙂

    • Euh Dink on January 20, 2023 at 5:00 pm

Keep up! It can take time to heal something that has been going on for decades.

  13. Barb Chester on January 20, 2023 at 1:40 pm

Excellent video. I have a friend who was diagnosed with stage 4 kidney disease. She was overweight but she did a complete 360 and over the last year lost 100 lbs and her kidneys are stable. She drastically changed her diet and she has stuck to it and knowing her she will always stick to it.Thanks for sharing this info, I’m just over 2 years out from chemo and rad and I still have a few lingering side effects so I have to be aware of changes, hopefully someday I’ll be back to normal lol.

  14. Michael Fortney on January 20, 2023 at 1:54 pm

Great video. Loved the dirty floor analogy. The big pharma are probably right now working on a pill to “block” your vision.
After 2 years of watching your videos my biggest problem is figuring out what to do with my free time that I used to spend at the doctors office. Thank you!!!

  15. Alex on January 20, 2023 at 2:03 pm

These kidney videos are very helpful. I was born with a single kidney and I’ve been given zero information from my doctor on how to look after or prevent kidney disease. Actually the only time they have ever mentioned my kidney was when they sent me a letter saying I’m high risk so I needed one of the first covid vaccines (which I refused)

    • Doctor Nate on January 20, 2023 at 4:06 pm

Following a healthy diet, exercising daily and sufficient water intake can significantly reduce the chances of having kidney-related problems. Hope it helps 🙂

    • Alex on January 20, 2023 at 6:17 pm

@Doctor Nate Thanks, I do all the above, a blood test once a year would probably be a good idea to.

    • Neil Newinger on January 20, 2023 at 6:51 pm

@Doctor Nate Now the question is what is the healthy diet. For me not even the keto diet helped. My frequent urination, fatigue, foot swelling and sleep problems got fixed only after going pure carnivore.

  16. Nur Hayat on January 20, 2023 at 2:24 pm

Your way of explaining creates animations in my brain. The Homa-IR calculation will make it easier for us to follow up. The basis of all diseases is based on diabetes, on the other hand, diabetes is based on malnutrition and technological ready-made foods. Thanks to Dr. Sten, we woke up. From Turkey..

  17. Veronica Rojas on January 20, 2023 at 2:37 pm

Dr.Ekberg, you are changing this world for the better. Deep love and appreciation for your work!

  18. Alan Cummings on January 20, 2023 at 3:15 pm

Used to always have frothy urine and many of those other indicators. Changed my diet to Keto/Carnivore. A1C staying near 6, where previously 8-9. Dropped 100 lbs. Eating in a 4 hour window. Eat lots of beef and eggs. Still have a ways to go, but I am getting there.

  19. Rex Torres on January 20, 2023 at 3:17 pm

Wow, that is the best explanation for kidney disease, insulin resistance, glucose and diabetes I have ever heard. Thank you! I just had some bloodwork done and I was wondering what some of those numbers meant. Great video!

  20. Michael Vittori on January 20, 2023 at 4:55 pm

A few years back my Dr. called me in after an abnormal blood test. She said my eGFR results indicated stage 3 chronic kidney disease. I felt this was strange because there was never any problems with my eGFR in the past. I had recently started taking fenofibrate and thought perhaps that was causing the abnormal eGFR results. After discontinuing fenofibrate, my eGFR readings returned to normal and my kidneys are working just fine. Perhaps there are other people out there who are being told they have stage 3 chronic kidney disease which is actually being caused by medications they’re taking.
