Turmeric contains a potent compound called curcumin that can naturally alleviate pain and inflammation.

There are 4 biochemical pathways that act as “master switches” to turn pain and inflammation up or down:
1. Pain and inflammatory factory
2. Master inflammation on-switch
3. Inflammation megaphone
4. Backup inflammatory alarm system

Many inflammatory treatments do not address all four pathways. Ibuprofen is great at turning the pain and inflammation switch off, and does so very quickly. Unfortunately, this pathway protects the stomach and kidneys, so ibuprofen can cause stomach ulcers and kidney issues. It also doesn’t address the other inflammatory pathways, which is why people often have to take it repeatedly.

Tylenol works in the brain, affecting the central nervous system, but does not relieve any inflammation. Similar to ibuprofen, aspirin works on the first inflammatory pathway, which can also affect your stomach.

Turmeric affects 3 out of the 4 inflammatory pathways! A double-blind randomized controlled study found that taking 1500 mg of turmeric with black pepper produced results comparable to ibuprofen without the side effects.

Extra-virgin olive oil mimics ibuprofen's effects at the molecular level. Try adding it to your salad regularly! Ginger and omega-3 fatty acids also work to reduce inflammation.

Boswellia targets the 5-LOX pathway, also known as the backup inflammatory alarm system.

There are 5 primary causes that flip the inflammatory switches on, leading to pain and inflammation in the body. By addressing the root cause, you can correct the pain rather than simply managing it. The following 5 factors turn on all of the inflammatory switches:
1. Insulin resistance
2. Mitochondrial damage
3. Chronic oxidative stress
4. Leaky gut
5. Chronic infections

To prevent inflammation and address the root cause, try the following:
• Low-carb diet
• Eliminate ultra-processed foods
• Intermittent fasting/prolonged fasting
• Magnesium, vitamin D3, zinc, omega-3s

I am an Indian and in India December to February we get a lot of freshly grown turmeric .
We make fresh pickles out of this.
Also turmeric powder is indispensable in Indian traditional cuisines

    • @faithadirah9595 on January 25, 2026 at 1:30 pm

May I ask how you pickle the tumeric?

    • @cindyhamblin5673 on January 25, 2026 at 2:19 pm

I hate turmeric, but I love ginger.

    • @RAYTHEGENIUS on January 25, 2026 at 2:19 pm

@faithadirah9595salt and chilli powder are the basic. You can add any other spices. But use boiled and cooled water. Avoid plain tap water.

The key in here is fasting fasting fasting
    Lower or eliminate carb
    Stay way from sugar
    But fasting most important

    • @anton447 on January 25, 2026 at 1:17 pm

Yes you are right, but for me even half day fasting is like eternity, I didn’t know what to do

    • @2MelMo on January 25, 2026 at 1:59 pm

@anton447 Be vigilant and your body will get used to it. When I started eating 1or 2 meals a day I thought I was going to die because my tummy was yelling at me to noend. But it took about 2 weeks for my body to get used to running on its own fat. One your body is used to that it is easy to fast. I can easily go 24 hours now without eating and not even notice. The body is incredible and will learn to adapted to what you give it.

    • @kareno3230 on January 25, 2026 at 2:25 pm

@anton447do it a little at a time. I eat between 11 am and 3:30 pm. Thats it. Water at night or sometimes hot tea, no sugar. I have no cravings at night.

    • @aadilabdulla on January 25, 2026 at 2:27 pm

Fasting is the key denominator. I come from India. Turmeric cumin finer garlic is used in everything. I can tell u.. it doesn’t do anything .. unless you are taking it as a medicine as dr berg mentioned for a long term.. maybe some benefit.. but it’s the fasting that’s actually doing the job.

    • @phubblewubbphubblewubb on January 25, 2026 at 2:36 pm

That doesn’t work forever sadly, it bought me an extra few years before it backfired.

  8. @WaynJul on January 25, 2026 at 12:44 pm

I drink a turmeric, ginger, green tea mix. It also helps my blood pressure.

    • @carvalone3076 on January 25, 2026 at 5:02 pm

I just made my own almost exactly this morning!! Added a dash of pepper and just a smidge of butter with a about a Tbsp of milk….not bad!!!

    • @45graham45 on January 25, 2026 at 6:35 pm

Sounds like a good idea. How much turmeric do you put in it? I was wondering how it tastes

  9. @riksanyr8494 on January 25, 2026 at 12:45 pm

tumeric should be consumed with some form of calcium, else the oxalic acids enter the bloodstream and can cause kidney stones. Indians take it with milk. It’s called Golden Milk. I add Calcium citrate to my tumeric milk in the morning. Beet Root also has oxalic acid. And cinnamon

    • @marianb2530 on January 25, 2026 at 1:11 pm

I heard of oxalates causing problems… I will look up Kale because I think raw kale gives me problems. Thank you.

    • @rickthain8538 on January 25, 2026 at 1:16 pm

Dr Berg says Calcium citrate is like consuming cement. Get your Calcium from foods.

    • @brianb7844 on January 25, 2026 at 1:37 pm

@marianb2530 Kale is low in oxalate content. 2-10mg per cup.

    • @marianb2530 on January 25, 2026 at 1:45 pm

@brianb7844Oh thank you for checking! It may be something else I’m consuming. I’ll have to keep a watch out. It’s not bad but every now and then I’ll get an aggravation. It’s like my body is warning me about something.

    • @marianb2530 on January 25, 2026 at 1:47 pm

@rickthain8538 It seems like it’s easier to get calcium from foods.

  10. @waitn4theharpazo on January 25, 2026 at 12:58 pm

I rarely get headaches but a few weeks ago I had a tension headache and although I take 1 turmeric w/ black pepper supplement daily already, I popped an extra one and within a half hour the headache was gone.

    • @thisutuber on January 25, 2026 at 3:03 pm

Hydrotherapy good too – foot baths etc

    • @MrKawasaki-u7f on January 25, 2026 at 6:12 pm

Look into taking magnesium glycinate. Been taking it for a year and I don’t get headaches any more. Used to get about 2 bad ones a month.

    • @F1ZZAS on January 25, 2026 at 7:00 pm

What is the best way to consume tumeric powder with Black pepper? I don’t wanna buy capsules, since I already have a lot of tumeric powder.

  11. @BorisMiljkovic on January 25, 2026 at 12:58 pm

I don’t want pain relief and inflammation to stop. I want the root cause to be fixed.

    • @allhimwithme5115 on January 25, 2026 at 1:06 pm

Dry fasting will achieve that goal in my opinion. I did 3 days (and I obviously didn’t die, LOL) and plan on doing 5-7 days next time. I do water fasts, but they just aren’t as effective, bottom line.

    • @bonniethomas5620 on January 25, 2026 at 1:08 pm

Inflammation likely is the root cause.

    • @LisaMarie-l4k on January 25, 2026 at 1:11 pm

@allhimwithme5115body detox is a must, inflammation is a reaction, not the cause of anything.

    • @lilypowell1123 on January 25, 2026 at 1:14 pm

@bonniethomas5620not necessarily…thats why ,you break a bone, experience some kind of damage , or have some genetic conditions that are solved by other sorts of medical interventions!!😮

  13. @whaleoilbeefhooked6688 on January 25, 2026 at 1:17 pm

Big Pharma products never deal with root causes of illness. They just tinker, like letting a three year old service your car.

    • @roshanthapa25 on January 25, 2026 at 5:12 pm

Not the pharma but the doctors. I have high blood pressure 140/100 but all my reports like blood report, urine, KFT, LFT, Thyroid, chest X-ray, ECG, ECHO and so many others reports were clean. Doctor gave me acidity medicine and it came down to 130/90. But the doctor didn’t give me any medications. That’s all.
And Then I did vitamin D test myself and I was deficient so I started taking Vitamin D, magnesium glycinate, B12, zinc and Vitamin B complex. Blood pressure is normal now.
So basically, there are treatments but many times doctors are not checking the correct things. They just rush to do various tests and give medicines that profit them.

    • @roshanthapa25 on January 25, 2026 at 5:15 pm

Diabetes and high blood pressure are the worst. Blood pressure is even a silent killer. I hate them both but the lifestyle of most of the people now a days is like invitation to diabetes and hypertension. My dad has both, I am always worried about me getting them.

    • @jrelox5009 on January 25, 2026 at 5:32 pm

@roshanthapa25totally agree with you. I had to literally isolate from everyone 4 years ago in order to take care of my health. I’m healthy but worried about these diseases. It seems like most people are not aware of their bad lifestyles.

    • @sammybrown0 on January 25, 2026 at 6:08 pm

@roshanthapa25 Why not try him on the carnivore diet??? So sorry to hear that…. Same diabetes that contributed to my father’s death (as he became critical at one point, was rushed to the hospital but instead of the nurses running some tests on him, they straight away put him on drips, and guess what it was glucose drip) years ago… And was also sh!t scared just like you. If I knew then about this carnivore diet I would have put him on it.

    • @roshanthapa25 on January 25, 2026 at 6:46 pm

@sammybrown0my dad’s situation is a bit tricky because he used to drink a lot, I mean A LOT. So he has diabetes, Arterial Fribriliation, kidney issues, blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol and I don’t know what not.
Because he has kidney issues, he cannot be put on carnivore diet either. But he’s doing fine, taking his meds everyday, sticks with normal food with less salt and takes insulin shots so everything is under control.

We even had his open hernia surgery 3 weeks ago. But man, it was hard because his heart pulse was too high and had to be admitted for 2 weeks to bring it under control. Thank God he didn’t have high glucose level in his blood at that time. High glucose is another layer of issues when surgery is needed.

  15. @vanessashirk7487 on January 25, 2026 at 3:37 pm

This has a lot of great information about inflammation

  16. @roshanthapa25 on January 25, 2026 at 6:58 pm

Dr. Eric, your videos have really helped a lot. I can’t thank you enough. I had high blood pressure 140/100 and vitamin D deficiency. But most of the reports like ECG, ECHO, ultrasound, TFT, KFT, KFT, blood sugar, urine RE reports and many others were just normal.

I stopped drinking, got back to walking everyday and even started taking zinc and magnesium glycinate after seeing your videos because you mentioned vitamin D needs zinc and magnesium in some videos.
Now my BP is under control after taking vitamin D, magnesium elemental 440mg/day, B complex, B12 and zinc, thanks to your videos. Apart from those supplements, I took meds for gastric for two weeks.

Your videos really helped me, thanks a lot.
